Yes the computer is on-board on this version. It's now been all replaced with just an iPhone4 running the Roomba and camera feed is from the iPhone as well.
What are you using for object tracking? Does it get distracted if there are other red objects around? Direction detection seems straightforward (look for the color, assume it is an object and point in the direction of the center) but what is it using for distance? Is it using the size of the red ball as it sees it, a separate sensor, or something even more clever?
Not much in the way of building here for a tutorial, mostly it's just a mini motherboard sitting on top of the Roomba. Software is C# with serial port control and custom code to send commands to the Roomba. There are some C# libraries for the Roomba if you wanted to get started with this setup. It's also just as easy to get the command ref. for the serial port on the Roomba and program away with whatever language you prefer. Questions just ask....
cptfrazz... The webcam uve used is sending its video feed to a laptop nearby? Or is everything integrated into the robot itself?
