Who cares if they did drugs. Drugs simply give you more ways to think about things. They aren't bad, unless they are abused, like all things. I do drugs, I love them and this fascinates the crap out of me. I love Animal Collective for the music and visuals they create, not for what they do on the outside of their work. Although.... Can someone explain to me in a calm intellectual manner how this is relevant or important? Most art has some sort of creative spark or central idea. What does it represent? How can I relate to this as a human being? Can it be defined as impressionistic if I don get an impression from it? Where's the emotion? I feel no feelings as I watch this and listen to AC's admittedly suave sound crafting. Is this ONLY for people who drop acid? My soul doesn't understand this.

I will go out on a limb and say that this is particular segment of the film is not strictly representational, in my opinion. I advise you watch the entire film before deciding how you do/don't feel about it.

Well, Avey Tare seems to hint a lot on mushroom use, Even in Mr. Fingers he sings "Blued from the Bruise" and in the song #1 he says "Squeeze the stem". When you pick shrooms you have to squeeze the stem to make sure they aren't the wrong kind, and the right kind bruise blue. That's just my interpretation, but I highly suggest eating magic mushrooms and listening to Animal Collective/Watching ODDSAC. :D
