I try to avoid aluminum as much as possible. However, I've been told by a geologist friend that the risks of exposure have been blown way out of proportion. In other words, he said that unless you're constantly consuming aluminum on a daily basis, there really isn't anything you should be worried about. I would err on the side of caution though. In all seriousness, my doctor assured me that the vaccines she uses don't have aluminum or mercury in them. There are vaccines out there that doctors can use that don't have this crap in them. My sis was allergic to red & yellow dyes. They made her way hyper. My mom was able to control her hyper activity w/dietary control. She went to a healthfood store, & checked labels. She bought stuff that was red & yellow dye free. It worked wonders.

If you are going to worry about every little thing the child will grow up to be a paranoid gimp. I know this sounds crazy but I think a little exposure to chemicals/toxin and germs is good for you as a child, and I know you're going to hate me for saying this but even vaccines are good for children. Good vid. Re: aluminum...I don't think it affects everyone the same. My grandma lived until 111 and used aluminum pots from age 40 to 109 (prior to that she lived in a poor rural village in Portugal). She was sharp as a tack until the day she died. Maybe for her the low to possibly NO exposure for her first 40 years made the difference. I am not saying aluminum is good for us at high doses, just saying exposure and reactions vary. I still say keep babies away from vaccines!
@roseinthepines I'm sure a lot of it depends on how well any given individual detoxifies from aluminum (and other metals). The rise in things like Alzheimer's is probably the combined effect of toxins, vaccines, and bad nutrition. In particular, aluminum hydroxide, which is in vaccines, was shown to cause alzheimers and its biomedical markers, in mice. That's a lot different that cooking in aluminum pots.
@thetruthergirls I guess that is why I mentioned my story...there is debate on how much aluminum we actually get from cookware. That was really my point. I still use my old aluminum cookware on occasion, not everyday. It's healthier than the non-stick coatings on new pans!

I try to avoid aluminum as much as possible. However, I've been told by a geologist friend that the risks of exposure have been blown way out of proportion. In other words, he said that unless you're constantly consuming aluminum on a daily basis, there really isn't anything you should be worried about. I would err on the side of caution though. Does anyone know why aluminum is added to these products especially the over the counter kids medicines?

If you are going to worry about every little thing the child will grow up to be a paranoid gimp. Keep the children away from fast food perservatives, juice boxes, and strangely enough also keep them away from doctors and medicines. Most importantly instill the idea to think for themselves and you wont get stuck with a gimp child.

I know this sounds crazy but I think a little exposure to chemicals/toxin and germs is good for you as a child, and I know you're going to hate me for saying this but even vaccines are good for children. I worked several years in an elementary school; some of the most vigilant parents who strictly monitored every aspect of their childs foods and nutrition ended up having children who were complete gimps and constantly sick/allergic/ and tired, basically an immune system that could not keep up.

Good vid. Re: aluminum...I don't think it affects everyone the same. My grandma lived until 111 and used aluminum pots from age 40 to 109 (prior to that she lived in a poor rural village in Portugal). She was sharp as a tack until the day she died. Maybe for her the low to possibly NO exposure for her first 40 years made the difference. I am not saying aluminum is good for us at high doses, just saying exposure and reactions vary. I still say keep babies away from vaccines!

@roseinthepines I'm sure a lot of it depends on how well any given individual detoxifies from aluminum (and other metals). The rise in things like Alzheimer's is probably the combined effect of toxins, vaccines, and bad nutrition. In particular, aluminum hydroxide, which is in vaccines, was shown to cause alzheimers and its biomedical markers, in mice. That's a lot different that cooking in aluminum pots.
