  • Is it just me or is this video lagging??

  • This is pretty much the only dave song I know of that can't be topped live. Album version is the best of the best, completely epic.

  • Theres a song out there that I'm 75% sure its DMB, but I'm not sure. Its fairly famous. All I remember is it sounded just like DMB, like the song Ants Marching, but it had the words "Go on a walk with you" "Straight" "moon" in it. I've searched those lyrics into google and can't find anything or band close to DMB or similiar. Any help or idea as to what the song is or could be? (and no it's not You and Me). It could be another band though that sounds like him like counting crows, coldplay, etc.

  • @nflnick11 Stay or Leave?

  • @BreakFree0325 no, not stay or leave....its less depressing sounding than it

  • no solo by leroi??? :(

  • "...I find it hard to explain how I got here..." Genius.

  • @youneverknowDMB

What's so technical? The opener's in 12 with an emphasis on the 3, then it's three of 5 and one of 6, 6 again for the chorus, and the closing stays in 6. I mean, ALL musicians nowadays can do that crap, right?

  • Still think the gorge DVD version of this song is the best version around

  • Funny, when your small

    the moon follows the car!

  • This is coming at Lakeside!

  • omg, what a mind-blowing lyric!

  • Dave's smile when he says "lying on the roof" - priceless...

  • Artist of the month? How 'bout Artist of All Time? Most incredible, most underrated song I've ever heard...written by a genius and performed by six masterful musicians (rest in peace Roi). Would love to hear this at the Gorge Caravan stop...

  • RIP LeROI

  • Always hot chicks ar DMB shows

  • hey remember when they played music on these channels??

  • I heard that this song was inspired by his departed sister. In fact some of them are, but that's what I heard

  • Does anyone else really miss roi?

  • @connorfresh13 I do very much. He was amazing.

  • Sexy

  • amazing song!!! the best of DMB...saludos from sinaloaa!!

  • Possibly Dave's best song from a lyrical standpoint but the melody and rhythm are orgasmic. Carter at his best. Lizards jammmmin.

  • @JFiannaca "...melody and rhythm are orgasmic." LOL I agree though!

  • the good ol' days

  • Almost every drummer but Carter would butcher this song with some hideous 2nd grade drum beat, but what Carter does is beyond a miracle.

  • @jojoereturns amen, my brother!

  • from a lyrical, musical, and progressive standpoint, this should be included in the top 3 DMB songs ever. it has a parts A, B, C, D, E, F--no other dave song has that many parts. this is my favorite lineup too. not a big tim reynolds and trumpet player fan. they are phenomenal musicians but they just drown out that organic sound too much.

  • @UglyToontown Not to mention the song constantly alternates between 5/8 and 6/8... or is it 11/8?

  • @Lukeypoo91 The intro, choruses and first half of the verses are in 6/8, and the second half of the verses are 5/8, 5/8, 5/8, 6/8

(so 3 bars of 5 and a bar of 6)

  • Carter's beats are lovely. Can't imagine DMB with a average drummer

  • love this song SO much, not only for it's melody but mostly for the lyrics. I find is very moving ... what if god shuffled by

  • a great example of life saying: "we dont know what we think we know".

we all think we r positvly right. but we will falter in our thoughts and beliefs, no matter what you do or believe in

  • pretty damn cool

  • first time played was camden, 7.16.02, good old jersey

  • @RyanHam90 4/7/02 Buffalo

  • @dorfmang 4/7/02 was boston, firsrt time played track 4...i was front row, aisle seats 1,2. wish i didnt give up my WH seniority 2 years ago

  • @RyanHam90 first time played was 4/7/02 fleet center boston. look it up on DMBalmanac.

  • Such a small crowd! I would give anything to be there!

  • This was actually on the C.B.S. rooftop for the Letterman show, I see the VH1 in the corner, I think they re-played it..

  • I saw the first live performance of this song from the front row ...Fleet Center 2002(I think ) it was so sweeet... sonded just as nice then as now

  • My absolute FAVORITE song by them. :) Awhh, they were my first concert. One of my favorite bands. <3

  • Well, i've never considered myself a die-hard fan of DMB but i've always love "You Never Know" and always wondered why it was so underrated.

By the way, who pick Fonz's clothes?! I wanna kill the bastard. He always looks like a Eminem wannabe.

  • This song is probably one of DMB's most underated songs. Its so good but its not one of the most popular ones by them

  • @acdc47 Most definitely! So amazing!

  • This is hands down the most creative song I've ever heard!

  • This song probably has one of the best choruses I've ever heard.

  • love this song, it never gets the credit it deserves!

  • this is their most underrated song along with spoon

  • underrated for the casual dmb fand, but both of them are highly appreciated among the die hard fanbase.

  • I Agree

  • well said.

  • @joaomgb agreed. and not so many folks know it because busted stuff is - i think - their most underrated album.

  • i love how they always have to perform on persian rugs. So classy.

  • This was like 10 years ago, still rocks!

  • this is my favorite song from busted stuff.

  • What is the time signature to this song?

I can't figure it out, and I've been listening to it for a half an hour.

  • The pre-chorus is three bars 5/8 to one bar 6/8, the chorus is 6/8, still working on the verse

  • It sounds like the verse is some syncopated 6/8 with the accents coming after the downbeat on some measures, just a guess though, it's hard to follow

  • yeah, the verse is 6/8, but in the studio version at least theres an extra measure of 3/8 at the very beginning..i dont know if thats how it should be counted (cause like you said the accents are kinda random) but it works.

  • its easiest to figure out the time signature if you listen to dave and stefan and block carter out.....it sounds awesomely fucked up because carter's crazy ass took a simple 6/8 riff and flipped it on its head.

  • haha yeah, i agree with both of those. if you check out dreaming tree @ piedmont park and skip to the end of the jam, he takes the normal 7/8 groove and pretty much inverts it. It's kind of sick.

  • @EquivocalUsername This song has got no time signature, there's simply Carter Beauford on drums, he doesn't need time signatures...

  • i feel like this is their best lyrical song......and this perfomance is so perfect. they look so in sync. wish leroi was still here. rip.

  • my comment exactly

  • best dmb song, in my opinion.

  • this song is absolutely stunning

    DMB IS AN ICON

  • this song is so inspiring

  • Passing time with you in mind

    Its another quiet night

Feel the ground against my back

    CountING stars against the black

  • he should win that 12 times a year

  • delicious

  • wow...Dave looks really happy while playing this, he said in an interveiw that this was his favorite song off of the album....this is such a good live preformance it sounds almost exactly like the recorded version.....

  • RIP 'Roi Moore.

  • he should win that award every month!

  • I can't get enough of this song. I listen to the central park bonus disc version at least 5 times a day

  • great song, one of my favorites, rip leroi

  • roi<3

  • Rest in peace Leroi...

  • how come carter didn't have the little intro on the Album version?

  • leRoi will be missed

  • THis tune is awesome. Anyone know what time signature it is in? I know there is some 5/8 and 6/8, but not sure...

    Thank you LeRoi...Rest in Peace!

  • i was going with some kind of 12/8 and ?what else...if you find out let me know too...i asked last week but i don't see my post...

  • Haha I've been listening to this song for like, a good hour now and I still can't figure it out. Props to the band for keeping it going.

  • This is summer of 2002 (July 15th to be exact, for the David Letterman show). You Never Know was the only new song written for the Busted Stuff album. All others on the album were written during the Lillywhite sessions of 2000.

  • Where Are You Going was not written during The Lillywhite Sessions but for Busted Stuff

  • dont forget about where are you going :)

  • Rest in Peace LeRoi

  • As i recall, this was from the summer of 2002. It is perhaps from the following year.

  • This roof-top vid is awesome. Look like from their earlier years. But judging by the guys hair, it looks around 2000. It's nice. Also,

Where is the video Dave performs for a few seconds "Where Are You Going?" I'd like to see it.

  • I really want to find where they sing Grey Street at this same rooftop concert.

  • Me too! Its an awesome version, it used to be on youtube a long time ago (where i first saw it) but i guess it got taken down.. Someone please post it up!
