On my parents windows pc the side bar is still there but now I am on a mac and it is on the bottom,. I assume becuase the mac is runnin an updated version.. but I liked it the old way.

Turns out that YouTube supports player windows of various sizes. If you look just above the player window on the right--opposite the title of the video--you'll see some arrows. Those control the size of the player window.

Yes sir, I firmly believe we all see the tube in different ways, often the newer aspects of the tube are seen only in the US first, then it trickles out to the rest of the known world (except China), now there's a story.

I see lots of people stating the old videos don't get watched anymore.

I will answer this and say make the sort of videos which will, vlog videos flat line real quick, certain subject matter and virals will just keep pulling in views.

For me your side bar is still on the side.

WRT the sidebar. Yes... I was mistaken. Turns out that the size of the player window is a viewer preference. There are arrows on the top right of the player that will enlarge your player and force the sidebar to drop.

WRT nobody watching old videos, that was a joke. Your advice on keeping videos playable is very sound.

I still have a small box, and I do point, but I do usually refer to it as "the Grey Matter" (oh, brain references...). That way the spatial relations become less important. : )

Depending on how you set your preferences, it could be anywhere—or nowhere if you watch this embedded in some other website.

It is a bit sad. But it's an exaggeration. I love it when a new subscriber starts poking around in the archive--especially when they leave a comment on an old video.

I've been tracking this... and I'll report it in my next quarterly report. Which is due any day now.

Don't know who watches your videos, but the people who watch mine are intelligent enough to find the video description on their own, with no pointing, no prodding, no compass, no map, no trail of bread crumbs, even when YouTube changes the layout.
