China and the USA are both great in different sports. China prevails in sports that offer more medals, such as diving, badminton, etc., while the US prevails more in sports such as basketball, which only offered one medal per gender. I'm not taking anything away from the Chinese, because they had a great Olympics and won the gold medal count. But also you have to take that into account before you say there is one top nation just based on that. But for now China does have the bragging rights!

yea they are great and they work really hard, but i do think they have a few sports they are naturally best at. i think that the chinese athletes pay such close attention to detail, which is why they naturally dominate at the artistic and acrobatic sports such as gymnastics and especially diving. also, i believe that table tennis is pretty big in china, so that may be another natural sport. i wasn't saying they aren't good at other things, just that the 2 countries differ in strengths

i dont think the chinese sport system is good in the least most of the chinese sadly dont choose wat sport they do the government chooses for them. for example they force tall people of china into basketball flexible in gymnastic etc. the only reason they do the sport is for the gold which most dont even want that they want to see their families again which they probably havent for a few years cuz their government wont alow it. so i find their way of getting athletes crude but i guess it works,

China and many other nations take children from their parents at age 3 and lock them up in a school for gymnastics were they rarely see their parents untill the children are good enought for them. IOC did in investigation. They concluded that the Chinese girls were not underage, any of them. The "proof" is questionable and the IOC investigated it. They found no trace of the Chinese girls cheating.

This was a very interesting argument during the Olympics and the month or two proceeding it. But now it's just annoying to think people STILL think the Chinese girls were under aged. It's been investigated.

Also, ALL the USA gymnastic team believe that the girls did not cheat.

That's 2/3 of their 2008 team. They should have cared, as Yang, Li, and Jiang were among those 'under investigation' after their victory 2008.
