  • is the fowntain the one at the old world trade center?

  • @Pennywizzle6969 it's at the Lincoln Center.

  • As a lifelong fan of the franchise, I was 3 when the first came out, I truly appreciate the time taken to compile the shots to make this video. I knew about Hook and Ladder 8 being the NYC Firehouse location, however I did not know about the L.A. firehouse for the interior. Cool info!

  • @rocktherecipe thank you for the nice comment. glad of being able to expand your knowledge.

  • wow that was neat going to all the places!! looks like the film crew let the firehouse keep the GB 2 sign! that is so cool.

  • @burtonrules123

They did. When the production was over, they gave the firehouse the sign.

  • i ain't afraid of no ghosts.

    great video

    chud1able.

  • How is it even possible to dislike this video????

  • Thats cool, how they have the Ghostbusters II logo on the wall of the firehouse.

  • no screen captures from original footage? we're fucked

  • Do people go there and ask to see the ghostbusters? So many people did at that at the house used in the Brady Bunch they put up a fence to disguise it

  • hey exactly where is the fire house located do you have a street address?

  • @asbutler North Moore & Varick in Lower Manhattan

  • Fdny!!! Is who you call!!

  • Who do you call

  • In the final shot is that the "limelight" church you see on the left next to the apartments???

  • Yep that's the church Stay Puft stepped on! I think it's cool the firehouse still has the GB2 sign.

  • If I ever go to New York, I'm gonna try to find those locations.

  • Who ya gonna call?

  • is this an actual tour in nyc? like one you pay for and they drive you around? or did the film maker just go to each point?

  • @bryan1282

there is a tour that takes people to places used as exterior shots in movies and tv

  • Slimer was shot using a guy in a puppet Then put onto film & they used TWO firehouses! Exterior is in NYC & exterior was filmed in L.A. Both firehouse are the same age too! wow Watch the commentary on the DVD

  • wow, that is awesome. So the firehouse is an ACTUAL firehouse, and they kept the sign from teh 2nd movie!

  • I wonder the GB1 sign is?

  • i did this...for my 30th my husband took me to nyc for the week and i saw all the locations i could including the corner of 1st ave where the buggy stopped in GB 2...best week of my life :)

  • God I wanna live in the Firehouse

  • Spooks central does look on the small side compared to what it was in the first movie.

  • they probbably used CGI to get the whole building, think about it, do you think that NY would let them blow up the top ten floors just for a movie???

  • No of course not. I just thought it looked bigger in the first flick.

  • depends how much they payed them lol

  • Actually CGI wasnt used much in 1984. infact the first mainstream movie to use it Tron just came out 2 years prior. Matte Paintings son were the way of things oh and Minature Models..

  • hahah

boy they had drawings/paintings to use back in the day.

    There was no CGI

  • Lol, they didn't use CGI in Ghostbusters!

  • well, what about slimer? he was a highly advanced puppet, how did they put him in, digitaly?

  • they used overlays to make it look 30+ more stories, the rooftop temple is not real, it was a stage, and the shots you see of the whole building in the first movie are just edited photos.

  • hey is the firestation still used as a real firestation? even with the ghostbuster logo inside it?

  • Yes the fire house is still in action.

Firehouse with Ladder 8 in house. funny firehouse to visit

  • har du vart där??

  • memories...especially the firehouse...

  • The Apt. in the movie had 10 floors add to it. Thats why it's taller/looks taller in the movie.

  • Yeah, I was gonna say... Spook Central looks tiny compared to what it looked like in the movie.

  • Is that the actual fire station they used in the movie?

  • Yeah. They used it for the outside shots

  • this is cool video but i found a better one here the name just add this on the search box is awesome more detailed and it 10 minutes long

here the name of the video

    Ultimate Ghostbusters tour of Manhattan!

justcopy the tittle and paste on youtube sear box to go to it is awesome!

  • Brilliant! Thanks for sharing. The next NYC visit will have to include visits to these places!

  • Do you guys think it would be a good idea to have movie clips side by side of each photo or video shot of each location?

  • great vid, thats something every ghostbusters fan needs to do at some point is visit all these places i did it myself with friends two summers ago, masterjdmc is right the guys at ladder 8 are really great and they let us come in and walk around a little and take pics, def worth the trip, the address for anyone who wants to visit is 14 North Moore Street in Tribeca

  • Yeah the people at the firehouse in NY are really friendly. They let you come in and look at the pictures from on set of GBII and they even had tshirts on sale that had the no ghost logo with Hook and ladder number 8 on it. The firehouse in LA is in a real crappy part of town that i didn't even feel safe walking the streets at.

  • What are the addresses for these places? Are they easy to find? I know the library but what about the fire station and the like?

  • If you do a google search for locations you should be able to find them all. Most of those places are landmarks within the city, such as Columbia University and Lincoln center.

  • @elbartostrikes they did inside shots at firehouse #23 in L A at 225 e 5th

  • @morbidiqua Firehouse is at North Moore & Verick in Lower Manhattan

  • On Google Earth there is a placemark over a firehouse in downtown L.A. claiming to be the firehouse used in the Ghostbusters movie.

    Which one is right, guys?

  • The exterior shots were done in NY at the fire station featured in this video. The interiors were filmed in Los Angeles (the one you found on google). The one in NY is still active, the one in LA has been closed for years; that gave the production full access to the premises. The one in LA was also used for The Mask.

  • the one in LA was also used in 'National Security'

  • So jealous you got into the library. everytime i manage to get there it is closed. oh well, warrents another trip! ;)

  • You forgot Columbus Circle and Tavern on the Green... all the same, great video.

  • At Columbus circle I took pics but they didn't come out good so I decided not to use them. The tavern...I knew where it was but I had to run somewhere so I couldn't stop by taking pictures. Thank you for your nice comment though.
