How the hell does gohan manage to get so lazy between series? From low teens to high teens, he drops in power and then between high teens and adult, he goes up dramatically thanks to someone else and then friggin drops in power again by a massive amount.
@boredwan Its called new management. Up until the Buu Saga, Toriyama was responsible for the direction of the anime and manga for DBZ. He is the one who had Gohan make the power jumps he did. GT was created by entirely different people, which is why you see such an odd discrepancy in Gohan's character/power and that of other characters on the show.

Keep in mind that in the manga universe (which the DBZ anime is actually based on and follows closely), GT does not exist. Thus, within the context of that universe, one could assume that SSJ3 is the ultimate form of SSJ. SSJ4 simply wouldn't be a factor.
@Futuregohan14 GT is an alternate universe you are right. Toriyama calls GT and the movies side stories, but as far as the animated DB/DBZ series goes. He states : DB : its the anime and the manga. So basically regardless of which version you view the story, it delivers the same overall message in the end.
Mystic transformation is obviously more difficult for Gohan to remember than SSJ2 considering he only learned how to go Mystic 16 years ago in comparison to how much he went SSJ2 since he was a kid. It's obvious that he was used to basic super saiyan transformations than Mystic tansformation. This is what happens when you don't train, you forget how to use the best techniques and transformations!

DBGT is otherwise terrible, and it's lack of positive reviews (at least from what was expected) is proof of this... It's so bad that DBGT has been subjugated to "Fanon Discontinuation". People who made Dragonball Online and Dragonball Heroes are aware of the criticism that DBGT has which is why they don't include DBGT in their canon...

Hi, I'm Gohan, You may remember me from awesome moments like that time I defeated cell and Bojack then old kai unleashed my hidden power which I became the strongest in the world. Well I forgot all of that now I suck, and can't put up a fight against the weakest enemy's that meant nothing to me when I was a kid.
@NeoGamemaster I have a better contradiction: After Gohan's powers were unlocked by Old Kai, he was supposed to go Mystic whenever he tried to power up and tried to transform into a Super Saiyan. Then how does he go Super Saiyan in GT?

@boredwan Toriyama still had a formula, style and model for the universe he created, which most fans can quite easily recognize reading the manga watching Dragonball and DBZ and most can clearly see is totally lacking in GT.GT deviates from this quite blatantly in many ways (as comments on any GT video will quickly point out), which is why it gets so little respect from fans.

@Kirby5413 SSJ 2 doesn't exist in GT. Proof : We never seen Vegeta or Goku fight in SSJ 2. Goku GT in Budokai Tenkaichi 2 and 3 doesn't have SSJ 2.
Enemies in GT are maybe stronger, but they didn't look stronger than DBZ enemies. They're prowess are so lame...
Mystic form can't be forget, because for Gohan it's the same as become SSJ but he still can be SSJ...

DBGT is good if you ignore DBZ and DB and watch it brainlessly without regarding Akira's logic in DB and DBZ...
DBGT is otherwise terrible, and it's lack of positive reviews (at least from what was expected) is proof of this... It's so bad that DBGT has been subjugated to "Fanon Discontinuation". People who made Dragonball Online and Dragonball Heroes are aware of the criticism that DBGT has which is why they don't include DBGT in their canon...
DBGT is made by Toei and only approved by Akira.

@NeoGamemaster I have a better contradiction: After Gohan's powers were unlocked by Old Kai, he was supposed to go Mystic whenever he tried to power up and tried to transform into a Super Saiyan. Then how does he go Super Saiyan in GT?
And its not because he stopped training, because Gohan could still easily go SS2 at the world tournament even though he didn't train for 7 years.

He magically learns to use SS transformation instead of the mystic transformation, which had REPLACED his SS transformation. So basically he learns to use a weaker transformation which makes him stronger than a more powerful mystic transformation. That is like saying Goku is stronger as an SS1 than as a SS3. Wow! GT logic at its best!

But heres the thing, Gohan did infact train over the years to GT somewhat and not just focused on his career. Sure he hates fighting, but that doesnt mean he didnt completely quit training, if you train you get stronger. Let's just stop on the going ssj in GT thing, but the fact is gohan is stronger in GT than he was in Z

For example, if either Goten or Trunks trained enough then they could've gone to SSJ2.
