  • What? It kinda looks like some word is written on a cell and that's proof of god. And wasn't it "found " on a dead baby. If he's real shouldn't he have kept that baby alive

  • I haven't watched the video yet, but I have to point out that the title is an example of panentheism (not exactly the same as pantheism--the reader will have to look the terms up to know the difference). Of course, it isn't how believing scientists view nature.

And now to watch the video and see if it employs evolution's best defense against intelligent design--ridicule.

  • @MorganMarvinson Oh, I'd say evolutionary biology has about a million better "defenses" (as if they're needed) against intelligent design. Ridicule is merely the most entertaining.

That, and whales with hip bones.

  • @rationalmuscle "I'd say evolutionary biology has about a million better "defenses" ... against intelligent design." Defensiveness is to be expected, but my point is that the video misrepresents how believing scientists view nature and it fires up what is the consistently best defense of evolution on YouTube.

  • @MorganMarvinson Defensiveness? Dude, it's parody. I know you serve a god without a sense of humor (albeit ebola could count if you're morbid), but geez... lighten up a bit.

  • @rationalmuscle "parody" Right. I do have a sense of humor and have commended some folks on finding the humorous side of things I value. However, this exercise in "parody" is simply an example of what evolutionary proponents do best--ridicule and it isn't particularly clever at it since it conflates evangelical fundamentalism with proponents of ID.

Of course, engaging a non-caricatured view of ID is not an evolutionary apologist's strong suit.

  • @MorganMarvinson Morgan, are you just too unwilling to look at the facts? Is that the problem? Forget "evolution vs creationism" (or whatever your stance) -- just look at the MOUNTAIN of videos on YT from biologists, chemists, etc. clearly explaining the process 'without' ridicule. Just a few: Evolution Made Easy series by Potholer54, DonExodus2's first two YEARS worth of videos... I could go on and on, but something tells me you don't want to learn; you only want to validate.

  • @rationalmuscle I tried to give DonExodus a chance, but the scientific misinformation in the video I started watching turned my stomach and told me that one "mountain," built on false assumptions, was man made. I'll see if I can find it for you.

  • @MorganMarvinson Please point out the misinformation in DE's video. I'd like to take a look myself. Meanwhile, what do you find objectionable to the, oh, 150,000 peer-reviewed papers on the topic? Obviously you cannot critique all of them, I realize.

Also, what area of study do you specialize in? Are you a trained biologist, or is this a hobby? I mean no disrespect; one can be informed without training, but I'm dubious when they ignore a very broad scope of research. Thanks.

  • @rationalmuscle I haven't been able to find the video since it has been some time since I wrote him. I am not a scientist. I am a layman. My college biology teacher asked me if I was sure I wanted to pursue my major (which was not biology). I have encouraged my son in scientific study.

  • @MorganMarvinson Thanks for the honesty, Morgan. As someone who was (unfortunately) forced to study within this field, albeit from the nutritive side of the biological equation (I hated org chem), I can relate. Now, please understand that it's hard to take a non-scientist's critique of an actual scientist's work seriously if they cannot (a) reproduce the source; and (b) illustrate the critique of said source. Keep looking. I remain quite open to having a gander. Thanks!

  • @rationalmuscle lol @ whale with hip bones. Seriously learn your whale anatomy before you claim whales were walking around using those tiny pelvic bones..

  • @grandmastersmith Congrats! You win Inane Comment of the Week. Do me a favor and look up what happens to vestigial bones over time.

No, wait: You believe those "tiny" pelvic bones were "designed," so they are not vestigial, and we've yet to find the real purpose behind them... but gosh-darnit THEY HAVE ONE!

    Gotcha.

  • @rationalmuscle Dude seriously check up on your whale anatomy.. those 'useless' pelvic bones are used to anchor muscles required for reproduction. If they did not have those bones they could not bear forth any offspring hence they wouldn't exist.. but yeah, no purpose or nothing right? fuckin youtube geniuses..

  • @grandmastersmith I see you love to quote the convicted criminal Kent Hovind. The quote you ripped off was referring to the PELVIS of the whale, taken word-for-word on one of Hovind's ridiculous websites. Just study up on Ambulocetus. Just one of many examples. Then do what you've done here: Run-tail over to AiG or some Ham/Hovind rag and spew out more bullshit "dude".

Re: "no pelvic girdle" nonsense: edwardtbabinski [ dot ] us/whales/whale-pelvis.html

Fuckin' genius is right you utter MORON.

  • is this a joke?

  • @MrLazyj Man I hope so... otherwise I'll have to quit my night job. ; )

But these days it's hard to tell fact from fiction with these whack-jobs.

  • They should submit this to The Journal of Irreproducible Results.

  • Chip Smegma - I love it! Great job! Keep 'um coming!

  • i like your rationalmuscle logo. Do you actually look like that? haha

  • @victorscarlet Thanks victorscarlet! Yep, that's an illustration of an actual photo. My job involves clinical nutrition and biological research in that field, and I apply it to my own bodybuilding and MMA goals (although MMA is taking a back seat now that I'm 41 and have all my teeth still... ; )

  • Nice video. I like your style of humor. Creationists deserve to be mocked.

  • @MrShane2369 Thanks MrShane. I think of it as mocking the pseudo-science that creationists often employ. I have a lot more respect for creationists that say, "God did it... don't know the specifics" than the 6K-earthers. : )

  • @rationalmuscle I agree 100%. There are a great deal of scientists who accept evolution and still have a belief in God. However, when I hear people tell me the earth is at the center of the universe and the planet is 150 years old, I start to get annoyed.

  • @MrShane2369 ... and I start making silly videos. ; ) But who knows? There could be a future for Chip Smegma on YT. Heh...

  • Obviously only in YT there can be so many liars, who don't bow to the true God: Allah! The real language of God is Arabic! And soon all humanity will learn it to worship the true and only God! Repent now, or live eternally in fire, and like Philhellenes would say: with some little jaded scorpions biting your jewels!

  • @Daud2008

I've long since started reading the Quran, though only in English. Allah's divinity shone through to me in Surah 86, the whole chapter. Allahu Akbar!

  • @Orkaney You should definitely try it in it's native language... Italian.

  • @Daud2008 so, so true... Allah (may peace be upon him) and Arabic (may corn-fed moo-meat be upon it) should be realized for the one TRUE stem cell hidden code... thingy...

    Praise Mo.

  • Halleluja! At last secular science has the chance to catch up with the real world pioneered by the cutting edge and innovative research of the thrusting young bucks of the Discovery Institute! Praise the lord and pass the shoe polish!

  • @falchion49 Sir, Lord Nason specifically FORBIDS shoe polish by penalty of being pummeled to death with shoe horns.

  • @rationalmuscle You're thinking Orthodox. I'm of the Lesser Orthodoxy incorporating the Church of the Latter Day Digital Sock.

  • @falchion49 Oh, well, you're going to hell anyway then. ; )

  • @rationalmuscle Not according to Dr Shoe. Apparently the Way of the Sock guarantees entry to Heaven and many 'specialist' nightclubs too.

  • Yep, there are lots of morons that wear the Creation Science label. There are also an abundance of those on the atheoagnostic side of the fence that have highly evolved moron genes. So, why are we swimming up the muddy banks of the Moron River here? Oh, that's right. I forgot. This is the land of YouTube where we purposely incite the primate side of the evolutionary chain rather than honor the brilliantly evolved of both sides, of which there is an abundance...if one looks for them.

  • @gle1244 It's all in good fun gle... plus I enjoy satire. And it gives me a chance to talk like a monster truck radio ad guy.

  • @rationalmuscle okay, I love satire myself. But, in my opinion, this is more than satire. Your basic motivation, in general, has de-volved to point out moronishness and to belittle the side of the debate you've chosen to reject. If I saw any other YT's of your satire in a variety of subject matters, I would just think, from my side of the argument, that this is just crude. You've included a phrase that is one of the most precious to Christians and belittled it. Disagree, but don't belittle.

  • @gle1244 If you wish to call my brand of humor "moronic" that's fine. A lot of people think South Park is moronic; I call it genius and damn funny too.

In comedy you cannot say, "THIS is okay... but THIS is not" in my opinion. This and "7 Types of Creationists" are the only dives into humor I plan on doing, so you know what to look for.

The "pierced" phrase: I merely said it'd be hard to fit on a stem cell... which is purposefully nonsensical. I don't see that as belittling. (cont)

  • @gle1244 About being moronic: I view REAL faith (or more accurately, real love and real hope; I think Paul was writing in declining order of importance) completely different than the issue I'm lampooning -- the "creation science" hacks. Ken Hamm, Meyer, TDI, etc. The term itself is an oxymoron, and those pushing THAT side are just... well, morons. Hence the humor SHOULD be moronic; so over-the-top that one day it may pass as real.

I do NOT view believers in the same light. Hope this helps.

  • @gle1244 as you know, at least in my opinion, :) I am a much more "highly evolved" specimen of a Christian Believer on many of the standard issues debate. I highly respect the "humanity" and right to personal discovery on "all sides." That which you believe is obvious doesn't appear that way to me (a very open-minded and pretty intelligent Christian). You knew the phrase I referred to without me saying, therefore knew what it was. I respect you and just felt this was beneath you.

  • Sorry, RM, don't take this personally, but I'm now convinced your god sucks even more than mine and so does his/her/its humor :)

  • @gle1244 Meh... I'm 34-1 in likes-dislikes, so for comedy (harder than dying, right?) that's a miracle. You know... in a non-miraculous way... ; )

  • @rationalmuscle except that's like saying, "who likes mud" to a convention of pigs, eh? ;)

  • @gle1244 Or, "Can I get an amen?" to a flock of sheep.

Pigs... sheep... we have several NT bible stories within these metaphors. We should keep going so Chip Smegma has his next segment! : )

  • Zeus is the shit with the lightning and the thunder pow pow pow. I guess Jesus did turn water into wine... but who would you rather see in a full action movie staring Arnold Schwartzeneger? Not the current Arnold I'm talking 1990's Arnold from Termenator 2 and Comando. Zeus could fight a clone of himself that became a terrorist working for his ife who is the terrorist leader and he could be like "I just want to spark up our relationship" and blow her away... What was this video about again?

  • @CappitranoBellephant - Best post ever.

  • @CappitranoBellephant Ha! Even I don't remember...

  • If this were a real story, I'd be inclined to believe it. I'd be warmed at heart by the all-pervasiveness of Jesus' Compassionate Love. I don't think of God as Creator. But I do think of this Reality as OWNED now by Jesus, bought and paid for, in a uniquely esoteric way. That said, and I hope you don't take this TOO personally, but the shallowness of the dumbest Christians is exceeded only by that of the atheists who make fun of them. Beyond the superficial stupidity is a GLINT of keen insight.

  • @baltimark Ah come on Mark... the hair follicle management bit was pretty damn funny.

  • @rationalmuscle Eh. It's all kinda personally heart-breaking to me. I remember back to when I was kid, falling for this way-hip take on stuff. What wasted years.

  • @baltimark You're absolutely right. No one should be making fun of Jesus Clause! !!

(It especially irritates me when they compare him to Santa Christ)

  • @Samuria11 Thanks a lot, Sam. I just nearly choked to death on my popcorn when I read that. ; )

  • But i read the word Jizz! It's a case of pareidolia or...? Damn Freud!

  • @Meninx87 Ha! First time I saw it I could have swore it said, "Have sex with your girlfriend's younger, hotter sister", but on second glance...

  • Yes! It's like The Onion for YouTube Atheists!

  • @43alley Hopefully it will be that funny one day... : ) Thanks Alley!

  • I'm guessing this is satire.

  • @TheLonelyWarrior1 Buddha, I hope so... : )
