It is beyond enchanting to see this young child so infused with joy as she plays this rippling, ethereal little gem. Everyone should feel this way about the piano and its unlimited capacity to enrich and rejuvinate us. Prokofiev's biting sarcasm gets overemphasized - his oeuvre is full of deeply lyrical pieces like this where emotion prevails. Rachel needs to let the left hand melody shape the arc rather than accenting each strong beat, but for an 8 year-old this is a very fine performance.

On my apple iphone which has a built in YouTube application, this video plays perfectly in sync and, and the performance is absolutely superb. It was only when I tried to view it via my PC, that I understood peoples thoughts that it looked like a fake. Try to view via some other means, and you'll appreciate how excellent this little girl really is.

I play piano, and yes she is truly playing this. It's not that complicated to play. To the average eye, it looks like she is ahead of the music, but her chord progressions & fingering patterns match the notes being played. I'm sitting here with 3 other musicians, and we see it plain as day. 1st listen closely to the notes. Then watch it with no sound, notice her top finger hitting (C)(D)(E) etc. Or simply compare her fingering to yours when you play it. The video is simply ahead of the audio.

I have played for several years in the past and I try to practice every day but I have to agree with some people that music is not only about being able to play well. Piano players have to grow emotionally for some pieces in order to create emotions with music they play. It's like playing Chopin without understanding who he was, when he lived, what did he fight for and long for, and the same with Rachmaninoff, Mozart and many others.

Sure he did. His music for children is pretty straightforward, and this seems pretty low on difficulty compared to a sonata no. 7 or visions fugatives. Even though I'm very much against rushing children into repertoire they're not emotionally and intellectually ready for, this is a pretty good choice and I think she did an excellent job on it.

They are more concern in play ever single note right then transmit the emotion.
