mans constant obsession with controlling things that can overpower us at its best. Deathstalker scorpions, tigers, lions, poisonous snakes.... I guess we feel a sense of empowerment when we have control over such things. awesome scorpion.
@brandonjaeger Cool to know. I would love to have some, but I have kids. It's not worth it...I want to get an emp colony going. I'm also interested in some other non-potentially lethal, active scorps. Do you have any good recommendations? Desert Hairy, for example?
@Scorpionking1104 Desert Hairy, you've hit the nail on the head. Good beginner scorpion, non-lethal (of course if you don't have an allergic reaction towards the venom), pretty active, and a beautiful species! If you do get one, I'd keep the substrate as dark as you can, it really brings out the beauty in them, just like with the death stalkers.
@Scorpionking1104 with baby scorpions like this one is it like baby snakes where they can potentially be more lethal because they release all of their poison in one-go and can scorpions even control the amount spit/stung at all? Super cool scorpion by the way.
@mratomix That's a good question. I'm not sure if scorplings have more/less control of venom. Perhaps somebody with more experience/knowledge could share with us.
complete fool! - even god would classify you as the greatest idiot on earth......
you play with your life only because u want to get more views and comments..... it worked - great! but let me tell you that i hope that she/he stings you one time.....
You are pure genius. 0.0 You know, you are the type of white trash moron that makes people attempt this stunt to out-do another. I hope you dont live much longer brain-washing other Idiots life yourself to try such mindless grabage. Buy a dirt bike and live on the edge, at least you control your skill in not dying there Douche bag!
@Speed6mps Its not really his fault if someone else does this and gets killed lol. The stupid shall be punished. In this case i think he is simply foolish but its whatever floats your boat. If he gets stung he will know it was his fault and i am sure he is aware of the consequences as he stated. Still crazy tho... i would never do this lol
@FuRiOuSP3NgUiN personally I would have at least leather gloves b4 holding something like that. A grasshopper looks like a giant compared to that thing.
You're an idiot. One of those things almost killed me once and it was mature. The babies are the most venomous because they can't control how much venom they release, so they let it all go. VERY painful way to die yo. Tell your fiancee to take out your life insurance and go buy your coffin now IDIOT! You've been warned.
@SantaxXxClaus various species of scorpions have the least amount of brain tissue that
would fix 10 mouse LD 50 doses and 20 L + units (500,000 LD 50) of tetanus toxin,
by the biological assay methods of van Heyningen . The lower the LD50 TOXIN THE MORE POTENT . THIS SCORPION IS ABOUT 1.5 ld50 . Some think the bigger the more danger it is if stung . Its actually the opposite . This one could kill a small child . A man of 180 lbs may not die but it will cause lots of lung and heart problems .
Thanks for the positive comments, binsky! I'm going to try to get some more videos up tomorrow -- possibly even a centipede one if all goes well. I'm nervous as hell about handling an almost full-grown S. de haani. As I've said many times, the LQ's don't make me nervous; the pede DOES! I have to study his movements for a bit before I make any decisions.
@brandonjaeger Ok just thought I'd let you know in case :) Be careful with that! If that got within like...10 feet of me I would be screaming and freking out. heheh ^^'
Nice vid Brandon. The scorps are definately alive everyone.
Oh, and boarduffolif3 - whatever your name is, get some expertise before you speak. Nowhere in this video or in the comment box does it recommend handling this sp, in fact it advises against it. The video was not trying to prove anything it was a video for the people who DO have expertise which helps them to understand more about this sp and how they behave.
If we didn't know how to handle scorps then why would we do it?
this is why they need to background check owners, any1 dumb enough to do this shouldn't own a single scorpion. most professional users won't go less than double caging such a deadly species. my local supplier doesn't even special order this for you, something I wish every store followed.
A background check? How would they tell who's fit to keep these animals? I know what I'm doing when I handle my inverts. I've handled many inverts many times and haven't gotten stung yet, so that should tell you something. People that don't know what I know shouldn't be handling them. I keep them in secured containers in a locked cabinet. There's no need for me to double cage them as I know there are no ways of them escaping unless they turn green, hulk out, and bust out of their enclosure.
I'll tell you how they can tell who's fit to keep a deathstalker, some smart enough to not take it out of the cage thats who. Anyways nice wife beater idiot.
seeing as you have the experience, could you post a video on how to handle a scorpian thats full grown (I want to handle my emperor) I have no clue how to pick him up or get him out of the cage
yo B, chrome here, still love that container you've got those in. What is it a 8 or 6 compartment container? was thinking of trying to get something similar then putting in B.Jacksoni or T.Stigmurus.
and to wolfexpert, you don't know one thing about scorpions, so you shouldn't be commenting on shit like this, grow some and learn about the topic you're commenting on, retard.
the only thing you did right now, is given the wrong example. YOU KNOW WHAT YOUR DOING > if someone else do this trick,, and gets stung,,, because they see you doing it,, QUIT THIS SHIT,, iam really sorry for the words i use, but this kind of shit makes my angry, so stop this
If a person owns a scorpion as venomous as this one, they should acknowledge the consequences of handling one. If they handle one and get stung, its not my fault, as I didn't tell them to do anything. I simply displayed the handling of one and said not to do it yourself -- TWICE. I bet that you get mad when you watch Ripley's because the people that are watching could replicate the situation and get hurt. Quit crying, noob.
I'll probably be making another LQ handling video soon since this one has molted and gotten bigger, so you all can look forward to that if I don't get tagged ;-)
Umm... Only around 14. I have 11 now due to a few deaths. If I had a job I'd definitely have A LOT more critters! Right now I have 2 Emperors, 3 B. jacksoni, 1 Bothriurus sp., and 5 LQ's. I also have 2 tarantulas and a ball python.
Unfortunately, for me, he's not dead. None of my LQ's have died yet. The one in the vid is about to molt any day now. It seems to be taking him a while to do so. The temps are good and he's taking his good 'ol time =P
No, it's not. If you follow the annotations, you can see that the scorp moves slightly at the said time frames. You can also see that he's alive when he comes out of the vial and onto my hand - he jumps a bit and repostions himself. I guess he wasn't feeling too active after being put on my hand. I have five death stalkers and they're all perfectly healthy. I don't make handling videos with dead specimens (=

there's an L. quin. available @ a shop near me
atm i have a communal set up of P. imps,
an Opistophthalmus spp. & my single Buthid, (P. trans.)
my determining factor is more species that
are interesting to watch and i see you have a variety
are the notorious "Deathstalkers" fun to watch?
the account from the shop is they have rather bland behavior
and so i continue to pass on it,
not wanting part in keeping a "lump", albeit a potent one
