Praying Mantises make awsome pets, they rarely attack (just dont get them P.OD.) And they have alot of human aspects, they see like we do, they learn alot from their mistakes, and they actually have emotions and feelings, pretty cool bug.

Its actually a Female Praying Mantis. Females are larger than males. Males are brown not green. Usually. And yes, they fly, usually at night.

actually the praying mantis is quite harmless. They have no venom and they don't bite humans unless you are crushing them. Their claws would do little less than tickle you on your bare skin. If you don't believe me then google it and you'll see.. they look lethal but they are completely harmless.
