Hi I am now living in Thailand also and some of the local Thai people have told me
that when they start calling that they are apparently calling for a green snake that enters their gullet and eats their liver then they grow anew one. I don't know whether its true or not.
Me and my old roommate intentionally released two of these foul beasts solely for pest reduction. We didn't see a bug for months and a time, and we saw the lizards maybe once every couple weeks.
I remember listening to these when I stayed in Thailand with my wife. Every house had it's own resident Tokay, usually living in the drain pipe. I was told that they never call more than 7 times in succession, so I became obsessed counting their calls. it was right, never more than 7 times. I need to get a life.
You should consider yourself lucky to have that gecko in your kitchen. It is good luck to have one in your house. She will eat all those roaches that you don't see that crawl over everything. I'd rather have a few lizard poops that a lot of roaches. See will just stare at you and if you are lucky see may invite her boy friend into your kitchen. You didn't show your wife in the video. Cool video!
its like the alligator that keeps coming back to the lake in my backyard. lol i guess its sort of a pet now since i sometimes throw a chicken leg or piece of steak at it and it does no harm whatsoever.
We live in Rayong. I think we had the big brother of your Tokay visit our kitchen also. I about jumped out of my socks when getting a midnight snack. Ours did not move slowly. Our kitchen was open, the Tokay beat a hasty retreat.
Really enjoy your Thailand videos. I hope you continue.
@sherbert500 thanks for your comments - you saw a lot of vids today. You want to see my wife - why? Lol. She is not the 13 year old that she sounds like. Her voice is like a pre-teen on here, I get more comments about this. She's 29 - find your own! lol.
This is weird... Here in Canada we pay well over 300$ to get a Tokay Gecko INTO our homes.. lolz I love them they are so cute and friendly (once humanised) and just walk around little kitties with scales... I named mine Jason after the second Robin ^-^
These are mean buggers *lol* my friends tokay latched onto my thumb so hard we had to pull him off because putting him under the tap and in a snow bank didnt spook him off. He broke the skin with his teeth and left me with tiny scars on my thumb.
They are a beautiful gecko and im jealous that you have these running around your house.
Ive been bit by one of these before Left a pretty good mark on my hand too lots of blood , So don't call this dude a wimp cuz he wasn't going after it like a moron , Tokays are probably the most vicious gecko out there.
@nkmmd I am kicking a bit of ass - aren't I? lol - WTF is with people... so that I can't catch a farking gecko in my kitchen without people getting their ass all bent up about it?
wow ur scared of a tiny little gecko just catch it if it bite who cares i been bit by a huge iguana i caught lizard that size who try to bite and i dont a white stick i just use a rag and grab that about it that i use unless i dont have one then i use mine hands
no they dont JUMP and attack, but they do bite hard and they stand their ground. some local Thia people call them lucky since they eat all the house bugs.
This 1 is actually small. I've been in the north east of koh pagnan, down in surat thani, and I saw a pair of them sticked on window of the internet bar from my hotel. I thought it was some plastic lizards that the owner sticked it up until they started to move. It scared the shit out of me and my girlfriend demanded to change bungalow in another part of the island immediately.
@nikosomegas The bites draw blood. These things eat cockroaches which crawl through dog turds. Whether a bite is going to take off my finger or not - isn't a consideration. Not getting bitten by something with a dirty mouth - is.
i was wondering why you were afraid of it but then you stated that it is a foot long and it's teeth are like sharp fish teeth. When you said that that's when i said i would be scared too!
damn dude, you should have read up on geckos before you caught him cuz honestly they would move out of your way about 9/10 times and you would never see a single insect in your kitchen lol
@MrIceBrick there was no time - he appeared on the wall - and you want me to run for the internet to read up on them first? no time... I was on a mission from god to grab this beast.
i've already experience catching gecko last thursday night.. it was 13inches and 350 kilos.. what i did is exactly what he did covering my whole hand to avoid getting snap by its powerful mouth.. it already did snap my fingers but for without those cloths in my hand, it would leave a mark.. the last thing i did is blind its eyes with my flashlight..
I have leapard geckos and they have the same teeny tiny teeth! I am more afraid that they will hurt themselves when they bite me more than the pain of thier bite.
@lizardqueenist I've had bites from those - on purpose just to see how hard they clamp down. It's VERY hard - from what you might guess. No blood drawn though. God the leopard geckos are amazing...
@lizardqueenist Tokay bites are much much worse than a leopard gecko's bites. I own both and I have been bitten by both. The tokay drew a lot of blood while I could barley feel the leopard geckos bite.
I had one years ago as pet, they're really cool! I think yours was a bit bigger though. =D Considering this video's more than a year old, you probably already know, but they bite pretty hard, but it's not that bad. A Heckuva lot worse than the anolis we've got over here.
here in philippines, there are a lot of geckos...but I dont give a shit about capturing it...here on our place we respect its keen intuition...and this is small compared to what we have here..
they are the most agresuv in the world i found this out after i bot it and it would maby be better if you put a shirt on we dont want to see your boty

@3miLyl0L Have you ever been bitten by a Tokee? It hurts like hell and the one which bit me was only a little one. And when they make a deathroll ... well, don't touch with bare hands.
Do you keep the geckos or just release them in the wild cause I like them and would keep them as a pet

If I may, we sometimes get 1 inch geckos in the house and we have a strategy:
step one: find a cup according to its size.
step two: put it over the gecko.
step three: slip a piece of paper under the container (don't worry it will jump onto the paper)
step four: carry the gecko using the paper as a floor to wherever you intend to put it I'm sure this would have been useful while catching the gecko.

@3miLyl0L Have you ever been bitten by a Tokee? It hurts like hell and the one which bit me was only a little one. And when they make a deathroll ... well, don't touch with bare hands.
