You're right that if this theory is correct it would have to be seen elsewhere in our solar system and we actually do see certain similarities in places like Mars, the Moon, and Ganymede (one of Jupiter's moons). While I'm still on the fence about which theory I believe to be correct there are compelling arguments from both sides but the lack of evidence shouldn't damn a theory.
