  • Wow, this is excellent!!! I've actually got the record, but unfortunately, I didn't like it the first time round & only played what I reckon to be the A side, "Walk On Boy"

  • @Strawberry7Lynn Just looked up 'Walk On Boy' on YT. Wow!! Spectacularly good, never heard it before. What a single that must have been. Thanks.

  • He should have waited til she grew up...

  • another ok cover before his career peaked ..and then HE BLEW IT..

  • @john111257 that's one way of putting it...

  • Saw this poor man booed of the stage, I think it was the Fairfield Halls Croydon around 1966. Jerry Lee Lewis with Gene Vincent Oh dear he stood no chance

  • @old65rocker Still he had the last laugh as Gary Glitter few years later,

  • @SirBasildeBrush So right, what is he doing now?

  • @old65rocker In and out of jail. You really don't want to ask why...

  • @SirBasildeBrush No youre right

  • @SirBasildeBrush Just read up on it... it makes you listen to the lyrics in a totally different way .___.

  • @TheDJGrandPa I know..........

  • Pretty good, but I think he had to develop as a songwriter before he had the quality of (say) Shane Fenton or BIlly Fury. The sax player is great. Was this from a George Martin produced session?

  • @dfarmbrough Sorry, no more information on this one. The first record I ever bought was by Paul Raven as Garry Glitter....

  • @leahmhaines61

I doubt at that time he was hiding anything but a dream for fame and a longing to be appreciated - if you check out 'Paul' posing backstage at an Everly Brothers concert in 1958 on Getty Images - this would have put him around his mid teens - you won't see a person that would have abused. More like he was abused himself in my opinion. This does not excuse 'Glitter' however...

  • @FragmentsOfOneMan Yes i just checked out that pic on getty images..

its hard to believe its the same person..

    What a shame..

Still ! as a performer he was brilliant. wasnt he..

    Have a lovely week xxx

  • who did the backing on this sir..

  • @john111257 No information on that I'm afraid.

  • Prefer this to Johnny Horton's version. There's more life to it. If Gadd had succeeded as 'Raven' though we would never of had 'Glitter'...

  • MR GADD..did make some great tunes...covers and originals..nobody plays his stuff anymore..SHAME...SHAME ON HIM.

  • what was his 'later history'?? good track!

  • Google Gary Glitter prison

  • Yes not a bad job at all , but not a patch on Johnny Horton! Slightly unfortunate choice of title considering his later "history" ! I think I have his cover of "Tower of Strength" in a box somewhere, on Parlaphone if memory serves. Many thanks for posting these hidden gems.

  • I did wonder if it was just a coincidence.. Anyway, that cover would be interesting to hear.

  • he could actually sing!!!!!!

  • ...like a real rocker 'n roller!

  • GO! GO! GO! "Sir B"...keep those hidden gems comin'

Your most devoted fan in Texas...Wayne

  • It's almost country! Always loved Johnny Horton's version of this, and my favourite of his - "North to Alaska".
