If you check, you'll find that 21/22/2012 is not the 'last date' in the Mayan calender as these hoaxtards all claim, it carries on for thousands of years. There is no large planet or dwarf star heading towards Earth, otherwise hundreds of thousands of professional and amateur astronomers could see it, solar flares cannot be predicted more than a few days in advance and we don't cross the galactic equator. You are taking everything on Geryl's website for granted as true, but he is lying that his predictions have come true, and you can verify this for yourself, try finding any reputable science site that endorses his views. I am a qualified astronomer, and I know for a fact he is wrong. If you check the Mayan and Egyptian religions you can see for yourself they do not predict any global catastrophe. Professional liars like Geryl rely on no-one checking up on their claims.

Check it out, Geryl charges for his books and videos and he also charges for interviews, he's raking loads of money in by exploiting this anti-science bullshit. Maybe he did discover some archeological ruins, that's his job, and he's probably very good at it, but when he ventures into pseudoscience and pretending that ancient people knew more about space than we do, even though they had no telescopes or knowledge of astronomy (they believed in the astrology superstition) he is very, very wrong.

I checked out La Violette, and yes, even though he is a qualified astronomer, he is another who has lost his mind and buried himself in mythical fantasies about ancient predictions. If you enjoy myths, fine, but if you want reliable information about the universe, you should at least try to look at some real science. If these people were really world-renowned they'd have an entry in Wikipedia, but neither of these guys has. The scientific world doesn't take ancient myths as if they are facts.

The Mayans and Egyptians (and the Sumerians) didn't have any knowledge of astronomy, it was astrology. They were very good at using the night sky as a calender which gave them a huge advantage when it came to planting crops etc, but they didn't know what the lights in the sky actually were. They had no idea these are huge balls of gas or rock, they believed these were gods, supernatural beings with thoughts who looked down on us and dictated our destinies. That is superstition, not science.

Scientists don't claim to know everything, so that is a baseless criticism. Everyone didn't laugh at Einstein, most who met him said he was a genius. There are many unexplained things as science does realise and acknowledge, if we could explain everything science would end. Scientists are honest about what is known for certain and what is partly understood an what is still a mystery. Read Carl Sagan's 'The Demon-Haunted World' for what it's really all about, it could change your life.

We'd last at least eight minutes, considering that's how long it takes for the light from the sun to get here. It could go out instantly and we wouldn't even know it for eight minutes. After that, we wouldn't freeze instantly. Temperatures would drop pretty quickly, but some humans would probably survive for quite a while--weeks or months, even (with lots of supplies in an extremely well insulated area), not that it would matter.
