I have no coordination to do this yet. I spent about 45 mins probably no luck yet. My left hand always messes up and weakens on after snare hit when opening the hi-hat.
not sure if i spelled this right.. but that beat when its together reminds me of that gojira song eurostatic surgery or something like that its the track 9 on the way of all flesh:D
Hey Mike nice drumming, can you post a video showing 1+1 32ths notes (1 kick bass drum + 1 right hand on floor tom)? I've heard on many drummers such as Vinnie Colaiuta. Regards
Just out of curiousity...Why do you freaks post comments on here just to talk dirty about people. He's trying to help out beginners. I'm pretty convinced he could school people like you. If not why don't you post some videos instead of watching these to talk lameness?
what did you guys expect ? he put up a video explaining how to make it sounds like double bass with one foot, so why are you all like " NO "? if he was gonna write a book about it he obviously knows what hes doing and how to make it sounds good.
mike this is not a shot at your playing at all but just a curious question, do you by chance use triggers for the bass drum? either way super impressive but if you are that powerful with doubles at that speed without triggers , your not human, your god
has anyone been able to get this down? cuz in the video there is a huge gap in between bum bum/ bum bum and then hes like flying...so...im just curious if anyone was able to put this together and if so please tell me...cuz i can't get this going much faster than like 176 bpm...which is slow as shit...
I did. Essentially you have to make sure your single pedal doubles and right hand doubles are in great chops, then putting the left hand part is rather simple. It took me some time (mainly because both my foot and hand doubles sucked when I started working on this). Thanks Mike, for letting me know how useless a double pedal can sometimes be.
Um, i dont play drums, and i'd like to learn, but if your using one foot to kick, and the other foot for the high hat, why does it look like your using both feet to kick instead of one playing bass drum, and one foot to control the high hat? is it just shitty video or am i blind?
that is great and all, but you can hear the difference between bass drum and floor tom. It won't hold if you are doing recording or beatblasting. you will need your right hand for other syncopation.
I totally hear what your saying and as you can tell I don't play metal. I did use this on major label recording for a song call Tripwire and Modern Drummer said that I over dubbed the double bass because it was impossible to play 32nd notes while opening and closing the hi hats, lol.
These lessons are meant to give people something different than what they see over and over again on Youtube, to get people to open their mind to new things on the kit.
i think just evans g2 clear heads with evans damper rings! but itll be hard to get ur kit to sound like that unless u have the same kit and tune it the same exact way as him! and plus drums mics make his kit sound different over a video!
