This video is almost two years old, so most of my pedals have changed. I currently use the MXR Blowtorch, EHX Bass Big Muff, 3Leaf Audio Groove Regulator (took the place of the Qtron), Xotic BB overdrive, and an Eventide Eclipse rack effect .(which is taking the place of the POG and Small Stone). That's no slight to the three EHX pedals that were replaced- they're all great pedals.
what is the song you are playing at 2:22? I've heard that chord progression a million times but I've never been able to figure out what it's from. Thanks!
That's just a chord progression I play around with. The first three chords are a 2-5-1 progression, which is the most common chord progression in jazz (and used in other genres as well)- I don't know if the whole progression exists in a song or not.
At about 2:16 it sounds like the progression from a song call "In Fear and Faith" by Circa Survive and after that it sounds like Autumn Leaves. That just might be my crazy ear though.
@bryanrtyler dude check out circa survive, i dint like em at first, saw them at warped tour, great band, if your into that prog-punk stuff. nick beard is a great bassist
Your probably thinkin' of that awful tune "lost with out you" by the mediocre-at-best robin thicke. Let me take this opportunity to say that that song has some of the most poorly written lyrics ever broadcast on radio. The progression is cute though. Thanks for pointing out that its just a glorified II V I B-Ty. And thanks for the demo, Personally i think this pedal is a little too digital sounding, but I might get it for the octave up. For suboctaves I use the EBS Octave Divider pedal. Fatness.
What the hell are you talking about? Unless "sooo rich" equals around $1000 to you, in which case, even you can be rich after a few weeks work at McDonalds ;)
Octavers generally do best at, or as close to, the beginning of your signal chain as you can get it. It will track better with a clean signal, so try to keep it first or after a compressor (which can help clean up your signal). Experiment putting it in other spots if you like though- everyone has different preferences.
btw just outta interest what would you reccomend for a phaser? i like the sound of the small stone how ever i havent heard a single phaser on bass any chance you could shed some light?
I use a Nano Small Stone myself and like it a lot- very small and simple but sounds great, but there's lots of options out there and I haven't tried many. You've probably heard phaser on bass and not realized it- one very famous example is Anthony Jackson using one on the OJays "For The Love Of Money"
The octaves sound too "fake" =/
Have you tried the Multiplexer?

I know you've got the POG, Q Tron and MXR but in this I can see a Small Stone, what other pedals do you have?

Never heard of Circa Survive, but Autumn Leaves does have a very similar progression (as does Blue Bossa and a ton of other jazz standards).

Holy cow!
I came here to check out the POG but I must say the dry un-effected sound of your Elrick bass is stunning.
Breathtaking great bass tone you got.

I never hear a guitar sound with the octave up I only hear it as an organ sound, but that's not a bad thing.
