i try 11.4 as try mode- hate unity so i go :system settings, and edit login screen to classic, restart try mode again...success! i get classic now to login...its try mode- i got no login key- can't try 11.4 classic on usb without using usb as main install local. download 10.10 instead- CLASSIC SHOULD BE DEFAULT is actually works better.
im very much considering installing ubuntu over windows 7. i am not gonna bitch and i dont want ANYONE bitching at me telling me windows 7 sucks. i actually had it meet ALL my needs without causing me problems. as a matter of fact vista did the same. i noticed most people who said vista sucked werent too computer savy. sure it wasnt perfectly optimised but it was a radical chance from xp...and like all new things you dont expect perfection. again. im debating ubuntu....atleast until i can try W8
@alextheromanian thats what kinda gets me mad with the windows vs mac thing. reason most people like mac is because they don't know how to take care of their PC. and people hate ubuntu because its hard for them to use. im personally multi-booting. win xp/vista/7, and ubuntu. so far, happy with all, and i know how to use them, so its great :)

I've had it for 8 months now and it's never down. I recommend adding Firestarter as it will tell you if a website has a problem. I've been using Windows for years, and this software has a easily adapted to Windows feel.

Yeah, Ubuntu doesn't need half as many recourses(hardware specs) as windows. I'm running it in a virtual PC with 128mb of video and less then 1 gig of ram, and it runs smooth.

Why do the big companies charge so much for their software? I just discovered Linux and am blown away completely. I switched from OSX leopard on my old PPC Dual G4, fully.
I tried Ubuntu 10.10 first, didn't run well on the PPC. Then YD (95 all over again?), Linux Mint on my other PC (very nice, very clean), and then... Kubuntu. Wow. I thought why are people paying for Windows7!? Some problems, so I tried Ubuntu 9.10 and it works flawless. More WOW... Linux is amazing.
@fsofnorway Yeah, Ubuntu is kinda bad on wireless drivers. the one I'm stuck with only gives me a 10-19% signal most the time. Oddly though, my internet seems to be more reliable. I dont have to refresh on here to make pages finish loading, like i have to do on windows sometimes.
