Is there a difference between Assyrian Christian and Syrian Orthodox Christian? I see that the priests and bishops don't wear the same outfit, which leads me to wonder if it's different. Well, they both use the Syriac liturgy.
@JJMATHIAS23 We are the Same people but divided in churches , the Assyrian church was divided by the Vatican Julios III in year 1551-1553 , our church was known by the Church of The East before the division , there is no Different between Syriac orthodox Christians and Assyrian Christians ,
Syriac and Asyriac (Assyrian) we speak same language .
Then when it comes to the name suroye I know that is derived from A / shuroye. I think there is much evidence that clarifies it but everyone sees it on his own way I dont blame anybody. As long as I know that the people of the various churches are SAME PEOPLE my health is fine
The name is something else in this matter. But the assyrian church of the east IS NOT the oldest church in our history. Sometimes the syriac orthodox church was named to be the first. Nestorios was kicked out because he had another tought of jesus and mary and so on. Those who followed him became known as nestorians and therefore the syriac church of the east but they changed it to 3ita madenkaye atoraye later
@josefao yes the name Syriac is driven from Assyrian Empire ,, till now turks and greeks call Assyrians by name syriac dropping the first letter A.of course we are same people. church of mardinkha means the church of the East . if it was catholic or Orthodox it was the oldest
i am an Orthodox Assyrian ,, Assyrian Church of the East it is the oldest church Syriac,chaldean churches where from the Assyrian church of the East . i know that the assyrian church of the East was divided by the Vatican in 1551 , he named Assyrian catholic (chaldeans) .. Suryoyo or Asuryoyo its a same meaning brother

shlomo ahuno I'm from the syriac ortodox church and how can you suggest that we come from the church of the east. I see the church of the east as my brothers depending on all our churches we ARE the same people but dont forget that the church of the east broke out from the syriac orthodox church.
