Mr Lawson....what a guy! saw him down at Basics, Freakin, also at KeTaLoKo's legendary house partys. OMG what a guy, not only can he put together a fantastic set, the guy fuckin loves it!!!!! 10/10, no question.
the dicks that post stuff about.. 'ohh this music is crap'.. 'ohh.. he's a crap DJ'.. 'ohh.. I wish I had some friends'.. you lot need to get a life, if you don't like it, jog on. No-one asked you to watch it, and a bloody big wad of moneys says that he's a much better DJ than you'll ever be.. Thanks for the tips Ralph, just about to go and buy a Xone 3D to do exactly this kindas thing.. just wanted to get an idea of just how compatibale with Ableton it is.. seems to do the job pretty well :)
the point youre missing is that this shite has massacred good house, and how the fuck would you know if he's a much better dj than any of us will ever be? due to the fact he's recognised? thats called good p.r and being in the right place at the right time mate. so get your facts right before you start talking shit on something you're clueless about.
@hypercatjohn "the point youre missing is that this shite has massacred good house"---- Its the guy controlling it who has the power to either excel or fail with the device.
This piece of hardware has opens up so many possibilities that were never ever even possible before.
This is moving forward man-- you may belong to the school of thought that a real dj is 2 vinyls and a mixer-- but thats not the case anymore.
@YUSHCTK Elaborate on how this technology is changing anything at all? All the person behind the mixer is doing, is playing other peoples music. The sooner people accept that every dj, bar the extreme minority (qbert and the like) are simply adept at mixing other peoples tunes. Fact.
No end of technology that allows yawn-tastic loops and stupid as fuck stuttery effects will ever change that.
this video clearly does not end up being an exemplary showcase of the technology.
To elaborate- Via Live or even traktor etc -- by warping various tracks or even using your ear to sync/match them you have the ability to play limitless loops/tracks at the same time.
Case in point --- check out vincenzo's set at basic nyc and the remix that he did of radiohead's everything in its right place.
Back in the day the dj would have his hands full with 2 vinyls.
@YUSHCTK No shit, which is where the real skill in using 3 decks + comes in. There's nothing special about looping up tracks you've timestretched to perfection (therefore taking the natural groove away) and then 'layering them' (simply doing piss poor eq and leaving nothing but a mess behind). It's all bullshit, all of it. The evidence is everywhere, clubs full of lifeless bastards stood round filming shit on their iphone 4. fuck that, give me two decks and a mixer...
@YUSHCTK ...a dj who knows his tunes inside out cos he's HAD to dig for them by standing in a record shop and listening to them through and through so as to not waste shit loads of money on crappy tunes, knows his way round a mixer and a sound system and knows how to read a crowd. Served.
