Take out Bryant, and Shaq and the Lakers would not end up with 3 straight rings. Bryant may not be at his best during those finals, but without him, there is no need to worry about the perimeter. The opponents can worry more about double teamming Shaq with no worries which would certainly hurt the Lakers. WIth Bryant in, Shaq would have more room to work with and less defensive pressure. Neither can survive without the others. They make each other a better player period.
