The chain idea was good in theory, but turns out they don't like to spin that fast. Went through a few chains pretty quick, extremely loud, and eventually stripped out the drive shaft... So in the end, it actually ruined this thing. and in the video, we don't even really test it. It would have done just as well with the 2 belts :)
hey! yeah, thats what i did, the belt pullys were the same size, but the engine sprocket i got is bigger then the driveshaft sprocket, so its a decent bit faster now. but yeah, it probably will burn out the hydraulic system. though they seem very heavy duty on these tractors. :) we've tested them alot :)
werent you pull starting it the wrong way when it was in the swamp. at first you were on the right side and in the swamp you were on the left. i think you could afford to take a link out of that chain too. what model tractor is this
Nah, i was pulling it clockwise :) doesn't matter what side you pull from, still turns the engine the right way, as long as you wrap it around clockwise. It is easier to pull fast on the other side, but not when there is a big dirt bank a foot away. yep, i plan on taking another linnk out.
so far, i've had no problems with any of the transaxles and water. they don't seem to mind at all. its not like a quad rear end, its a whole transmission/axle combo :) so i think they might be more durable in some ways :)
ok good one with the chain drive but you don't need the clutch gear evin tho it look good you don't need it take the chain wear it got a little play not much but a little play so it dose not binde up the motor trust me on this one that Y it so hard start up grand'ed that will be a touch hard up neway and thin give her hell
Clutch Gear? You mean the Idler sproket? thats not a clutch, just an idler. Bolens don't have idler clutch setup. they are hydrostatic and spin all the time, or are stick, and have actuall pressure plates, and clutch disks and all :) But yeah, i'm gonna make the chain shorter, and keep the idler. its easier then moving the engine up :)
haha, that hole is probably only going to get deeper, with errosion and all :) but man! its fun crawling around in it on a bolens. it bassically tipped over each time i went in, had to jump off, run around, and lean out as far as i could pulling on it to keep it semi upright and going :) fun times :) grant took a hard fall running over to get the camera to film the tiltage :)
haha, ah, gotcha :) isn't that crazy?! that crack happened the one day last year, in the one bolens 850, and it just got worse over a few days, then all the oil, from inside the coil, kept coming out from the heat or something, so it can't have much oil left in it, and it works fine, all the time :) crazy... :) i think the water might be shorting out, or disrupting the stator underneath the flywheel, or messing with the connectors that go to the ignition module.
Love it. Glad to see it work, with no failure (of the chain drive) on the test run. Chains do stretch, but the idler should be able to make up for it.
yeah! i was so supprised. i really thought as soon as i started it, there were going to be crazy grinding sounds, and the chain breaking or popping off. I Have to get that half link, master link, and take another link out of the chain. its just a little too lose. it kinda hits the other side when its bouncing around all crazy like :)
yeah, thats what these were. I really HATE tractor supply, because its like somekind of redneck haven place... they play country music and stuff, and just think they are cool because they think they are redneck. the whole scene disgusts me. they don't have hardly anything at all for tractors, goes against the whole name of the fucking place. it should be, Farm Supply. or something like that. REALLY pisses me off. they did have the weldable parts for me :) Keep Belts From Slipping In Water
LOL! Yeah i hear y- but they do have some good deals tho sometimes- i can bear the country for a good deal....i buy alot of belts there on clearance- always check thier clearance area- next i want to get there is a spool of bulk battery cable and when im ready the sprockets.
I just bot another grease gun there- also bot my hvlp spary guns cheep there as well.
Nice! yeah, they do have belts kinda cheap. bastards don't have a good selection of 5/8 belts though. no place really does, thats why i had to switch over to the 1050 style bolens, that use 2 half inch belts at the same time, in place of the 1 5/8's belt at a time. couldn't really find them anywhere. and they broke so often too! last year i must have spent over 200 dollars in belts that all broke... this year... maybe 80 bucks. and they didn't break yet :) Except one...
Well, you guys go to the extreme with your tractors- ive herd like red and green belts ( kevlar) belts are best for like racing/hard use - but they come with a high dollar price tho for thier long wearing.
the gates belts i normally use are green. not sure if they are kevlar or not. the blue ones at tractor supply might say kevlar. they're made by gates though. yeah, we are hard on them i guess. i i really don't think we're hard enough on them for them to break. because they are so short you know? and they have clutches, real clutches. not the fake belt tensioner clutches that mowers have. I can see belts wearing down and breaking alot when your slipping them for a clutch all the time
Thanks man! yeah, thats a pretty crazy deep hole, and you have to use all of your body weight leaning WAY over the other side to keep it from tipping :) crazy stuff fun stuff
We actually took the headlights out, so that when smashing and bashing goes on, they don't get destroyed, like they always do :) but that doesn't have a charging system right now, so no juice for the lights. but night time romping is awesome! true though, it doesn't work out well with night vision :( but its still fun! :)
ahhh, but it won't work on a non hydrostatic thing. because it spins the transmission all the time. pushing down a sears clutch pedal, which loosens the belt, would not do anything good to the chain :)
Hydrostatics are good for pulling stumps and shit. Haha I've pulled a few stumps with a hydrostatic mower....didn't work out so well, because it was an open transaxle, but I got a few out with a few hours work of work.
They are awesome! Its actually my friends, and his parents needed a car, so i had to give it back, but the thing is nice :) stick, with 5th gear missing. :) i think it is an 89 :)
yeah! its a decent bit faster. definitly more dangerous. It really is pretty much unstoppable now... except for the ignition stuff not liking the water. have to work on that.
fucking awesome! and who's that guy? seems cool.

would it make the tractor faster if you regeared it to turn the pump faster or would it burn up the whole hydraulic system?

real neat and good idea.
Get the kit perfected patent it and sell them on ebay as conversion kits : D

Get that hole filled in then take it to the limit in the water!

Y went to TSC? Yeah thats where im gonna get my sprockets- the weld together type.
Y might want to keep an eye on the chain- they stretch a lil after time-
Thats a cool idea- keep y from having to buy belts.

So it's pretty much unstoppable...

Actually a smaller sprocket on the trans and larger one on the motor make it faster.
