In december 2001 cia field officer Gary Bernsten was on the ground in afganistan and his team knew bin laden's exact location.He requested a team of army rangers be dropped in to get bin laden.His request was denied and bin laden escaped into pakistan.

I've done some research into the diplomacy between the Taliban and the US concerning Bin Laden before 9/11. I would strongly argue that the Taliban was willing to hand over Bin Laden, providing some conditions were met. Even before 9/11 they were prepared to hand over Bin Laden to an Islamic country as declassified cables show. All these efforts were blocked by Saudi Arabia and Qatar probably due to US diplomatic pressure.

Also how does Bin Laden's death really change anything? What kind of people celebrate the deaths of their enemies? Is this something Christ encouraged his followers to do? As far as I know, this is opposite to the things taught by Gandhi and MLK, and just about every other significant person that stood for what is right.
