The UK monarchy is one of the most powerful familys in the world. If you think they have no influence then you should research Money! Man, the bailouts won't work. We r just getting deeper into debt and r now debasing our currency by printing money. Spent 3 weeks in France about 3yrs. back. We took the Eurostar & arriving in London for 3days was like being splashed with a bucket of cold water. I do like the UK and Brits, but after spending 3wks in France among the very courteous, & helpful French (mind-they like Cdns) & enjoying thr rich culture & good food, I was struck at how rude, off-hand & generally lacking in common courtesy the Brits have become. A big change from my 1st visit a few yrs back. What happened? The food was awful also.
the only thing i may agree with from this yanky doodle dandy is allowing some of the banks to actually go under.... and allow the shareholder to take the pain.. but his other talk, just yankey doodle waffle, bless the new world dopes! AND WHAT IS THAT BOW TIE? trying to have British Savile Row style? Yanks just can't carry it off! all that cash and NO clue on style...
Normally, I avoid ad hominem attacks but for just once I feel compelled to make an exception. You remind me of a British automobile reviewer who went on and on about how classic a high priced British car's wooden dashboard was and how declasse a BMW's was. All the while ignoring the mechanical superiority of German engineering and saying that British mechanical breakdowns were charming. In my experience, you can wear socks with your sandals as long as your money is good.
Dr! LMFAO again! you sit there in Canada, whose ass we saved from becoming Yanks by the way! and bemoan British made cars! NORTH AMERICAN CARS??? they are worst in world.. u get excited by petrol burning boxes! We STILL manufacture the best quailty cars in the world. TVR, MINI, Range Rover, Jaguar, Rolls Royce, Aston Martin, Lotus etc.... ALL MADE IN BRITAIN! name some Canadian makes? Might not all be owned by UK shareholders, still made here. And then you laugh at our fashion? Lumberjacks?
Love the UK. Was one of the greatest countries in the work. An important part of half our country's heritage, part of my heritage, but to use the word quality & British made cars in the same paragraph is an excellent definition of an oxymoron. Expensive - yes, cachet - yes, successful branding - yes, quality - absolutely not. Economy - IMO - religion is an opinion, economy is a fact. U can't measure god's grace; u CAN measure the value of an economy. This is serious & will get much worse.
I agree with your perspective Clichy. You have to be realistic and not be blinded by your patriotism. While we are on the subject of motor vehicles I'm reminded of Harley Davidson. I always said if I worked there I would put all my money in the bank (or gold, ha ha) because they are a fashion accessory for the upper middle class. One economic downturn and those overpriced rattling vibrating antiquated paint mixers are going in the tank.
Noo..My brother bought a land cruiser 2 years ago..it's been nothing but a complete disaster for him...I have 10 year old ford explorer (11 years old now) it has 148,000 miles on it...and never had a problem..the American cars have been given a bad rap becuase of the crap they put out in the 80s...look at JD Power for quality..you will see they have rated american cars among the best for the last 5 years or so...while British cars rate near the bottom
Ah, Mr. Iancoley, where to begin, firstly, I'm filled with nothing but gratitude for the gifts that remaining loyal to the British Empire has given Canada. Americans, for some reason think they vastly benefited from their revolution, I see no evidence of that. The commonwealth is not a competition, it is a mutually beneficial cooperation. Also, my comparison was between British and German cars not my Chevy piece of crap. In addition we are a small country not a superpower.
Nothing wrong Britain! This dope did not predict the US mess, and his type are the reason it happened! So one thing we should learn is that these types talk bullshit! This guy distorts facts, he is one who has made money from "confidence" crisis, why listen to some yank telling us what to do. we will survive, like we have survived every crisis. We don't need an investment guru, who has no morals to advise us.
Mr. IanColey please, you have to do a slight bit of research. Mr. Rogers has been one of the most public and vociferous predictors of this crash for years. Do a simple YouTube search and you'll see interviews Jim Rogers did years ago calling this crisis with astounding perspicacity.
drmodestoesq, LMFAO, there is always someone who can stand there and predict the world is nigh, and stand and say "told you so!"... look at religion, such as the Jehovah Witnesses, they have been predicting it aswell, it does NOT prove they are experts, this guy, like any such "expert" is partially to blame for this mess! sorry Doctor! this guy is so wrong, and sadly just says what the media want to hear, we need people to do stuff, not sit there &comment! He has made millions out of the mess!
You are right, anyone can be a simple contrarian, but when you look at the specifics Peter Schiff, John H. Kunstler etc.. used to describe the present collapse, well, its just uncanny. Point by point they nailed it. Also, I wasn't praising the fashion sense of the average Canadian, I was insulting your snobbery over Mr. Rogers choice of neck wear. I personally, wear my ignorance of fashion as a badge of honour. (Look at that my anglo friend, Youtube thinks you can spell honour without U)
Wrinkles old boy, why are you including the Northern Wastes along with Britain and the good ol' USA. We in Canada have two trillion barrels of oil mixed with sand, huge agricultural exports, massive amounts of uranium etc, etc, etc. We are perfectly positioned for the rebound of China and India and the rest of the world's domestic consumption. If your watching Jim Rogers you know he's bullish on commodities. A note to Mr. Iancoley, those lumberjack shirts aren't just a fashion accessory.
Well.the USa has masive shale deposits...but..it take many years to get them developed...anyway, what I was refering to was manufacturing business...and trade wth the USA......it's gonna hurt if the USA goes under...trust me
Dr, the raw materials you have do help you, a gift from the Brits "Eh?" I love it when the guys from the Colonies try to talk sense, like little kids becoming teens and thinking they own the world. They still lack experience and culture, finding their feet in the wilderness. And fashion? Canada? oh dear... no comment... Canada has only given one thing of worth to the world.. RUSH! and you still allow the French to dictate to you! LMFAO
Canadians think they own the world? Where do get your cultural insights? We think we're a insignificant country. You Brits on the other hand (like the French) still think you have great empires. And Fashion, I said we have no fashion sense! I also said nobody cares. As for the Quebecois French, they are our brothers and sisters who have fought and bleed beside us in every conflict we have ever been in. When will you Euros every get over your ethnic hatreds and think of the future.
My god man, American just elected a black president. What do we hear from you Euros? A constant stream of ethnic hatred which has benighted that continent for thousands of years. They strange thing is that you think your hatred of the French, Italians, Lichensteinians etc... is what differentiates you from each other. In fact its what you all have in common. Hell, soccer fans from Leeds pound soccer fans from Clacton on Sea. You're like the family of drunks that lives next door.
Dr! lmfao... your ignorance of the facts shows you up. Check you facts! I have to laugh when I read stuff from the new world colonies commenting on the motherland, the place from where you got the little culture you base you life on. We have learnt lessons that you have still to learn. I am not aware of any FOOTBALL (not soccer.. dope!) fans pounding fans from Clacton on sea? strange comment?? better that clubbing seals? eh? I am wary of the french! as you should be, not ethical hatred,
I agree that your hatred, or as you say wariness of the French is not ethical. As for learning lessons, here's a lesson you should learn from our tight fisted Scots bankers. (I guess all the good ones emigrated to Canada during the enclosures) Don't buy bad paper from the Americans. Oh, and our seals are in a state of overpopulation. Where are your seals, bears, wild boars, wolves etc. etc etc...Oh, that's right you reduced them to extinction centuries ago. My god, even beavers!
A method of discussing a subject which involves being as provocative as possible invites a response. If your definition of culture means covering anything edible with custard, dumping Ryanair loads of binge drinkers on the ancient capitals of eastern Europe, or men wearing bells jumping around waving hankies, uh, no thanks. In any case having an ancient culture doesn't seem to have given these old societies a firmer grasp of or a leg up on, common sense & wisdom, witness the UK economy.
I agree that thr will be a lot of pain, but Canada in a completely different position than either the US or UK. More than a decade of surpluses & debt reduction, our debt service ratio went fr around 70%, now round 30%. No toxic mtgs & our banks never tried to suplement thr balance sheets w/ derivatives. Our banks r sound. No credit to us but we sit on worlds largest supply of Uranium, potash. Also timber, grains. We deal w/ the world, not just US. World demand is still growing.
Preach brother preach. I never thought I would be grateful for the tight fisted Scots that run our banks. In addition, the balanced budget mentality has actually entered the political consciousness. A survey a couple of years ago (those were the days!) asked what we should do with the current government surplus. The answer, inexplicably enough, was "pay down the national debt." Talk about a challenge to ones misanthropy and pessimism.
Tight fisted, prudent Scottish bankers?! It was the UKs two giant Scottish banks that are toxic (RBS and Bank of Scotland). Plus our Prime Minister and Chief Treasurer are Scottish (Brown and Darling). Hardly prudent.
Mr. Funex, I noted (somewhat facetiously, obviously) that Canada got all the tight fisted Scots as a result of the enclosures of the 18th and 19th centuries. Also, I hate to inject a serious note but as Niall Fergusen says the issue is not to regulate or not to regulate financial institutions. The point is good regulation and bad regulation. Look at the sub-prime crisis. The same companies that were selling them were also rating them. What a laughable conflict of interest.
I live in London, but, find the Scots a bit of a handful: coming down here taking our jobs spreading their toxic debts all over our fiscal system: leaving shortbread crumbs everywhere.
The Romans got it right: Hadrians Wall. It just wasn't high enough.
LOL are people seriously having an argument Jim Rogers vs the UK? Arguing with Jim Rogers and Marc Faber is pretty much the dumbest thing you can do in terms of investments. I would suggest people who are angry about hearing the truth go long commodities, Asia and short US long term treasury bonds. Then you'll feel better.
I always watch JIM ROGERS, MARC FABER, PETER SCHIFF and RON PAUL at financialtruth0.blogspot . com because they post all the latest videos there. Thanks for uploading anyway!
JCSY44 - what would you suggest 'Jimbo' should do? - invest all his wealth in a shite failing economy like America's or Britain's - because THAT would be like shuving bamboo shoots up his peehole......you and the rest of the public that has blind patriotism is part of the trouble in this world.....
JCSY, you're free to take your money out of american and britich currency too. Jim Rogers' isn't some special magical person that makes him the only person that can do this. He's just smarter than you.
Dude, don't hate on people who are successful just because they are successful. It reflects poorly on your character. Jimbo doesn't owe you or me anything but he still takes the time to talk to people on TV.
So you want him to be stupid and keep his money in an economy thats gonna have hyperinflation and every step theyre taking is destroying the banks and the economys. Theyre destroying the tax payers money and throwing it down the drain. Is that a good thing in your eyes?
Gee whiz, the man has the foresight to look after himself and you hate on him. Dude, this guy is doing his best to inform the world about what is happening. Stop drinking the socialist Hatorade and listen to him. He's doing you a big favour. Unless you spent all your money and expect the government to save you... if so you basically deserve what's coming to you.
doomed, no future, what future, lawlessness, this is a nightmare, I feel like shit. I am really concerned. HELP

Britain does not make anything anymore. It has nothing to sell.
Britain has gambled two thirds of its economy on the financial sector, which is utterly stupid.
Hardly surprising though, as we Brits prefer to make quick bucks through gambling rather than actually innovate like the Germans and Japanese.

TVR, MINI, Range Rover, Jaguar, Rolls Royce, Aston Martin, Lotus etc.... ALL MADE IN BRITAIN! name some Canadian makes? Might not all be owned by UK shareholders, still made here. And then you laugh at our fashion? Lumberjacks?
iancoley 3 years ago

In addition we are a small country not a superpower.
drmodestoesq 3 years ago
Nothing wrong Britain! This dope did not predict the US mess, and his type are the reason it happened! So one thing we should learn is that these types talk bullshit! This guy distorts facts, he is one who has made money from "confidence" crisis, why listen to some yank telling us what to do. we will survive, like we have survived every crisis. We don't need an investment guru, who has no morals to advise us.
iancoley 3 years ago
Mr. IanColey please, you have to do a slight bit of research. Mr. Rogers has been one of the most public and vociferous predictors of this crash for years. Do a simple YouTube search and you'll see interviews Jim Rogers did years ago calling this crisis with astounding perspicacity.
drmodestoesq 3 years ago
drmodestoesq, LMFAO, there is always someone who can stand there and predict the world is nigh, and stand and say "told you so!"... look at religion, such as the Jehovah Witnesses, they have been predicting it aswell, it does NOT prove they are experts, this guy, like any such "expert" is partially to blame for this mess! sorry Doctor! this guy is so wrong, and sadly just says what the media want to hear, we need people to do stuff, not sit there &comment! He has made millions out of the mess!
iancoley 3 years ago
You are right, anyone can be a simple contrarian, but when you look at the specifics Peter Schiff, John H. Kunstler etc.. used to describe the present collapse, well, its just uncanny. Point by point they nailed it. Also, I wasn't praising the fashion sense of the average Canadian, I was insulting your snobbery over Mr. Rogers choice of neck wear. I personally, wear my ignorance of fashion as a badge of honour. (Look at that my anglo friend, Youtube thinks you can spell honour without U)
drmodestoesq 3 years ago
Well..you may survive...but you and the US/canada...are headed for complete financial collapse..depression...and long term pain
wrinkles1931 3 years ago
Wrinkles old boy, why are you including the Northern Wastes along with Britain and the good ol' USA. We in Canada have two trillion barrels of oil mixed with sand, huge agricultural exports, massive amounts of uranium etc, etc, etc. We are perfectly positioned for the rebound of China and India and the rest of the world's domestic consumption. If your watching Jim Rogers you know he's bullish on commodities. A note to Mr. Iancoley, those lumberjack shirts aren't just a fashion accessory.
drmodestoesq 3 years ago
Well.the USa has masive shale deposits...but..it take many years to get them developed...anyway, what I was refering to was manufacturing business...and trade wth the USA......it's gonna hurt if the USA goes under...trust me
wrinkles1931 3 years ago
Dr, the raw materials you have do help you, a gift from the Brits "Eh?" I love it when the guys from the Colonies try to talk sense, like little kids becoming teens and thinking they own the world. They still lack experience and culture, finding their feet in the wilderness. And fashion? Canada? oh dear... no comment... Canada has only given one thing of worth to the world.. RUSH! and you still allow the French to dictate to you! LMFAO
iancoley 3 years ago
Canadians think they own the world? Where do get your cultural insights? We think we're a insignificant country. You Brits on the other hand (like the French) still think you have great empires. And Fashion, I said we have no fashion sense! I also said nobody cares. As for the Quebecois French, they are our brothers and sisters who have fought and bleed beside us in every conflict we have ever been in. When will you Euros every get over your ethnic hatreds and think of the future.
drmodestoesq 3 years ago
My god man, American just elected a black president. What do we hear from you Euros? A constant stream of ethnic hatred which has benighted that continent for thousands of years. They strange thing is that you think your hatred of the French, Italians, Lichensteinians etc... is what differentiates you from each other. In fact its what you all have in common. Hell, soccer fans from Leeds pound soccer fans from Clacton on Sea. You're like the family of drunks that lives next door.
drmodestoesq 3 years ago
Dr! lmfao... your ignorance of the facts shows you up. Check you facts! I have to laugh when I read stuff from the new world colonies commenting on the motherland, the place from where you got the little culture you base you life on. We have learnt lessons that you have still to learn. I am not aware of any FOOTBALL (not soccer.. dope!) fans pounding fans from Clacton on sea? strange comment?? better that clubbing seals? eh? I am wary of the french! as you should be, not ethical hatred,
iancoley 3 years ago
I agree that your hatred, or as you say wariness of the French is not ethical. As for learning lessons, here's a lesson you should learn from our tight fisted Scots bankers. (I guess all the good ones emigrated to Canada during the enclosures) Don't buy bad paper from the Americans. Oh, and our seals are in a state of overpopulation. Where are your seals, bears, wild boars, wolves etc. etc etc...Oh, that's right you reduced them to extinction centuries ago. My god, even beavers!
drmodestoesq 3 years ago

Clichyabarbes22 3 years ago
Preach brother preach. I never thought I would be grateful for the tight fisted Scots that run our banks. In addition, the balanced budget mentality has actually entered the political consciousness. A survey a couple of years ago (those were the days!) asked what we should do with the current government surplus. The answer, inexplicably enough, was "pay down the national debt." Talk about a challenge to ones misanthropy and pessimism.
drmodestoesq 3 years ago
Tight fisted, prudent Scottish bankers?! It was the UKs two giant Scottish banks that are toxic (RBS and Bank of Scotland). Plus our Prime Minister and Chief Treasurer are Scottish (Brown and Darling). Hardly prudent.

I'm Irish, living in the UK, despite what I've said I'm fond of the Scots.

KhmerD0g 3 years ago
What a laughable conflict of interest.
drmodestoesq 3 years ago
