If I hear this song from JET BIMBO, I think with pleasure of my childhood days. I heard this song in the 70th often on the German radio station "Radio Bremen Hanse wave" in the broadcasting "We recommending - you choose" with presenter Klaus Nelhiebel. At that time, in addition, in Germany an in German chanted cover version of the same name was to be heard often from the finnish singer Marion. Long it is, however, I think back with pleasure. Thanks a lot for uploadin' it from Germany.
This cover might have been "written" by Claude Morgan in 1974 or 1975. But the original was called "tanha shudham tanha" and was written by the afghan singer Ahmad Zahir in 1971.
Heck even that song can be found here on youtube.
In your face!
Google it. Wikipedia it or anything, but you'll come to the same fact.
End of story.
"The lion sleeps tonight", wasn't written by some american either
Kernkraft 400's "Zombie nation" was the tune to the videogame "Lazy Jones".
@McLarenMercedes Ahmad Zahir covered this song in 1977 (the year of publication of his Lylee album). He couldn't have sung it in 1971. The song is written by Claude Morgan.
Though Ahmad Zaher's version is lovely, Ahmad Zaher wrote Farsi Lyrics to El Bimbo, but not the music. He did the same with writing Farsi Lyrics to "Those were the Days my Friends" as well as "Que Sera Sera".
When I was there in October, that song was stuck in my head the whole week. It just seemed to blend with the whole mood of my experience there. You should go back and re-experience your youth. That little island is a timeless place...
is it ever nice to be abel to look for older music ,,and find them ,,thanks loads rolly

I don't like this version.... The movie one is better, but short and nowhere to get. Don't you know where could I get it?

the police academy's version made by Paul Mauriat.
but too bad, the exact version in the movie only made for the movie, not findable anywhere, not even as soundtrack:(
so sad...

Holy cow, I just found out this song is a cover of a 1971 song made by some Afghan singer.
It seems making covers has been around for ever. Sadly the original artists rarely get the praise for the song.

You are so right! Since the song was written by Claude Morgan, did your "Afghan" singer pay any royalties?
