  • tom cruise sayd some shit that was so real it convinced jamie fox to crash on purpose

  • Philosophical sparring in a LA cab.

    Hitman vs Driver.

    Mind-breaking personal epiphany.

    "...Twilight Zone sht...go fck yourself..."

    Total awesomeness!!!

  • that move with the car wanted balls, i admire Max, i could never do that.

  • One of the best movies scenes of all times.

  • its not your film . but your good we are in this together ,

  • audioslave - shadow on the sun

  • whats the song where the wolves come

  • Max shows more courage in this scene than a dozen conventional action heroes.

  • EPIC scene (Y)

  • scenes like this made this movie great - the dialogue between Vincent and Max was so suprisingly good and Mann's use of night time, almost grainy in its look, is terrific.

  • What the fuck are you still doing driving a cab?! powerful...

  • Great scene. The dialogue, the lighting and the score, sets the perfect atmosphere

  • woah man that line that Cruise put down was deep... Had to stop after that and think...lol That's show what a great movie this is

  • @epajrgolf right?

and that bit at the end. just replace "driving a cab" with anything. everyone here could probably find something in their life that they're using as an excuse not to move forward.

  • Notice how the car didn't explode into a 50 foot fireball. That is very realistic, and again proves that this is a great movie. Car's rarely burst into huge fireballs, because the gas tank can withstand a lot of impact, and there isn't anything to ignite it. My cousin slid upside at 70mph with his truck's gas tank ruptured pouring gas on his head, and it never caught fire. :)

  • I love how both of these guys psychoanalyze each other successfully in this scene, just the blunt truths

When Max brings up Vincent being institutionalized, 1, he probably was in an institution, & 2 maybe Vincent didn't always have his sociopath personality, the whole nature vs nurture debate: maybe he was always this way, or something changed him into it.

    Amazing film.

Also, can someone explain the Sigmund Freud meets Dr. Ruth comment? what that means?

  • @crb396776 The Sigmund Freud meets Dr. Ruth comment was said because after Max Psychoanaylised Vincent he asked him., "And why haven't you killed me yet?"

Vincent did like Max for some reason. Not sure if he would have let him lived after his hits. I think the chance would have been 50-50.

  • @LucidDragon22

No we would've killed Max. During the movie the cop mentions that a mysterious killer did a series of hits and killed a cab driver a while back. It's the scene where they are investigating the 1st murder.

  • What's the song that straits at 2:07?

  • Whenever I feel bad about life or that things never seem to go my way, I remember to watch this. You make your own breaks in life. Go out and get what you want. You don't have time to feel bad about yourself.

  • You don't see many films that have dialogue this sublime, fantastic film and performances.

  • @JorgeEFM what are you talking about ? if your talking about this movie why would you waste your time watching videos of it if you dont like the movie?lol

  • @JorgeEFM

Your either a troll or incredibly retarded with the most God awful movie taste in the whole universe.

  • @JorgeEFM

Not enough patience? What, are you used to movies with no thought, only back to back action and cliche jokes? Guess what, there's more to a good movie than those things. Collateral is brilliance and if you can't appreciate it, that's really too bad.

  • @JorgeEFM Jorge I'm a film student and studying film for college and I have to say that you are absolutely wrong on this subject, you must have extreme form of ADD to not have the patience to watch this movie because to be honest this is an awesomely well written story with great lighting and effects to match, go out and make a movie if you think that it sucks that's better than this because I can assure you that you'd never be able to make something half this good.

  • Love the movie but the best scene are then they cross the lights and the wolf passes by..

  • fantastic scene. vincent the cold blooded killer shows pain when max said that vincent was emotionally scarred but it is no excuse to be hired killer.

  • These cab talks were the best parts of the movie and the most important. They demonstrated the true themes. Vincent sits in judgment of Max, picking apart his whole existence and questioning his life, but isn't ready to deal with someone willing to push back and he starts to care what Max thinks of him. Meanwhile, Max, feeling he's going to be killed anyway, actually figures out Vincent on a much deeper level than Vince ever figures him. He evolves, Vincent doesn't.

  • I feel like Tom Cruise has done a scene like this before.

  • Mann movies always have the grey on white suit combo. Also, this movie begins at the airport and ends on the subway. Heat had an airport ending with a begin on the sub. Note this Mann fans.

  • "What the fuck are still doing driving a cab?"

that line gets me every time

  • Really really love this scene. Thanks for uploading. Shadow on the Sun in the background is the perfect song for this scene and the coyote scene.

  • @smokeyou85 you got it, man. It's practically art.

  • The only scene in a movie where the bad guy tells the good guy how to become truly happy and live a life he deserves

The writer of this scene is a true genius, vincent is this messed up asshole who knows right and wrong he just doesn't see the use of it, when he kills the jazz musician is where he shows some heart, the look on his face says " im an asshole for having done this"

  • @solarstone7 I like it.......but steady on.

  • My top 5 may b even top 3 movie part of all time. The first time I Watched this movie back when it was still in theators I said to my self Vincent cud be talkin to me.What he says about one day reallizing U hav let ur life pass bie cud'nt be more true. (Man ol man where does the time go)

  • Anyone notice STAPLES CENTER in background before the crash?

  • 2 people were the homies

  • @AdemaLevel LOL

  • Rocky Radio ,,,,,,,,, New News!!! HaHa!!

  • Look at the interior vs. exterior shots when Max speeds up. Interior, they're going about 20 mph in a straight line but exterior they're doing 50 plus and swerving all over the street. Jamie Foxx even does the classic 80s TV show trick of "driving" the car by jerking the steering wheel back and forth the whole time.

  • vanilla sky? why do people keep speeding their cars to try and kill tom cruise???

  • i really like tom cruise's voice

  • 2 people never realized theyr dreams

  • Rocky Radio ...... I am waiting for these 2 characters to be the main people in a New BEN HUR movie, Tom Cruse will be the Roman Commander & Jamie Fox will be BEN HUR. Who will play Jesus Christ - I do not know, but in the original Ben Hur Jesus Christ never showed his face. If they do it the same way it will not matter who plays Jesus as long as he has long hair. HaHa!! I should be a Producer or Writer!! haha! Especially in the chariot races!

  • @rocky4432901 Who the fuck are you and why did you bother to post this horseshit twice? What are you even talking about? Ben Hur? Seriously?

  • @harshlight7 HAVE U NEVER SEEN THE CHARIOT RACES IN BEN HUR??? THEY ARE FAMOUS!! HEY, I GET 2 THUMBS UP FOR MY COMMENT, HOW MANY DID U GET?????

  • Rocky Radio ...... I am waiting for these 2 characters to be the main people in a New BEN HUR movie, Tom Cruse will be the Roman Commander & Jamie Fox will be BEN HUR. Who will play Jesus Christ - I do not know, but in the original Ben Hur Jesus Christ never showed his face. If they do it the same way it will not matter who plays Jesus as long as he has long hair. • man i wish that scene was like 15 seconds longer to show when tom cruise goes "well that was great" and starts poking jamie fox with a piece of the taxi really hard. i laughed my ass off when i first saw that

  • Max points out of the flaw of critical nihilism. If life is so meaningless and we are so insignificant compared to the cosmic scheme of things, then why does it matter to Vince what Max does with his life? He has no right or position to judge Max in any way.

  • @323guiltyspark

You make a good point there, but in a way, they're both judging each other unfairly. Max looks at Vincent and says, 'professional killer? What kind of moral existence is that? What kind of way is that to make a living?' and Vincent is like, 'it's the only one I know, but look at yourself. You have the ability and the luxury to do things that don't involve gettin' blood on your hands. You can live clean and be successful if you want it...but you won't take the risk.'

  • @323guiltyspark You've missed the point. It does not matter to Vincent. Vincent was going to kill him anyway. It was a sort of pillow talk to keep Max' mind from thinking about doing anything - numbing him with argument.

  • the best movie iv'e seen :D

  • EXCELENT QUOTE

Someday? Someday my dream will come? One night you will wake

up and discover it never happened. Its all turned around on you. It never will. Suddenly you are old. Didnt happen, and it never

will, because you were never going to do it anyway.

  • @acomerla21 Story of my life.

  • @acomerla21 Man, how many real life people did he nail with that one?

  • what a fucking masterpiece

  • like how max turns it around a bit on ultimate badass vincent

  • Comment removed

  • 2 people have no taste in movie moments what so ever...

  • @MrFUNNYSHIT206 hopefully those dislikes were on accident ,lol.

  • TOM CRUISE.............ULTIMATE BADASS!

  • the first 4 minutes of this clip rank very high on the list as the best dialogue ever written then performed. Great music, great directing...amazing scene.

  • Collateral meets Creepshow 2= THANKS FOR THE RIDE, JAMIE!

  • Tom Cruise should have won an Oscar for this! Just perfect!

  • @maverickslb80 i agree with u on that statement

  • I love how at 1:59 Max is trying to process what Vincent said, because it sounds so soulless that he is like shocked.

  • @973JJJ It's not because he shocked by what he said, it's because of the shocking realization of what he himself Max has failed to do in life is hitting him like a ton of bricks and that is a hard thing for "any" man to face when you are a just a little bit past your prime.

  • Rocky Radio........ New News!! HaHa!!

  • One of the best movies ever. Got me into loving the acting of Tom Cruise.

  • This scene always gets me thinking :) what does it matter??

  • @SPIKES69696969 . yeah thats kind of the point

  • Rocky's Movie Review....... New News!!

  • 2 people have been hypnotized by daytime tv

  • Thakns for upoading, I was just hoping I'd come across this scene while browsing for collateral

  • love the image vince describes max, if you see the world like that, nothing matters anway, its all dark and all shit, so why shouldnt i just kill myself and drives in other cab, this scene has so much to say, real fucking awesome

  • Comment removed

  • yea the slow melody is called requiem and the rock song is called shadow on the sun.

  • @Hybridnight Shadow of the sun - Audio Slave

  • what the fuck am i still doing driving a cab...

  • Life in a nutshell. Powerful scene.

  • The performance, the sounds, the IMAGES/COLOURS...perfect!!!

  • Great writing and summary of the dichotemy we all face from within: interpreting life's value/meaning vs. life being meaningless. Vincent made the parallel that he was no different than than a person living a life of just "going through the motions" and not fullfilling their purpose thus killing that life. His point was that we all are murders (meaning killing a life) just like a paid assasin if we BS ourselves and loose perspective on life and live like zombies going through the motions.

  • RED LIGHT! ... "this Twilight Zone shit"...

  • Thumbs up if brad sent you :o

  • @roguedemon123 thumbs up if a good movie scene sent you*

  • I never cry over a film, ever. I never really cried at all. But the scene with the coyote going infront of the car ... man, wtf? I just started feeling upset. It was wierd, I mean I only really cried when a relative died and thats about it. Some things that happen are beyond my understanding. I wasn't stoned either.

  • I like this movie. Very cool scene. Thx

  • This is amazing... the turning point for the movie. MAx has been so amazed, intimitated, and frightened by Vincent because he seemed to be superhuman... but he's just damaged goods.

  • lmao at the 1 dislike

  • @PennyWisee14 hahahahaha it's still at one a week later...

  • brad sent me.

  • Love how he hits him with the flashlight to see how pissed off and incapacitated he is after this scene.

  • brad sent me with dora the explorer

  • one person escaped from the madhouse

  • Brad sent me!

  • Brad sent me...oh wait.

  • Brad is fuckin rad

  • Brad sent me

  • I got Goosebumps amazing performance.

  • Brad sent me.

  • Brad Sent Me

  • This is an extremely well made film, and is Tom Cruise's best movie to date. This is one of the best scenes, with the exchange of harsh home-truths between Max and Vincent. One of those twists of action where the business-like assassin of Vincent is suddenly caught out by Max burying his foot on the pedal and taking the control away from Vincent. A thoroughly impressive film in every way, this was a refreshingly different role for Cruise, and it absolutely worked 100%.

  • best action film ever

  • 0:00 To 6:03 best parts

  • does anyone know the song that comes on at 1:58?

  • What do you think is goin thru vincents mind at 4:36

  • @PennyWisee14 frustration. vincent is a poster child sociopath, and sociopaths are driven by motivations to win and or control situations. so to him he felt as if he was losing a game and was trying to figure out what to say to get the situation under control again.

  • @xXull thanks man

  • This scene always gives me chills. Vincent's empty eyes, the drowned-out sound of the passing traffic, and the score. This scene is the best, but the whole movie is just so sublime. Thank you for uploading this - next time someone tells me either Jamie Foxx or Tom Cruise is a bad actor, I'll bring this up.

  • song choices in this film were spot on!!!!

  • please type "COLLATERAL KASSEL" to youtube.

i think you really won't regret it...!!! ;-) spread it!

  • They both died

  • @AlcoholicSemenStain No, they did not. They both escaped from the car, badly injured.Vincent had run away after he heard police sirene, and Max (the cab driver) stayed with his car.The cop who came had found a body in the trunk of his car and plead Max guilty, but had tied the cop and run away.Vincent got into the building where Max´ love interest was staying, he wanted to kill her.Max came just in time and shot Vincent in ear.Vincent then followed them into the subway, where Max shot him 2 death.

  • excelente..!! me re copa esta escena..!! la pelicula esta muy buena.. !!

  • tom cruise should get an oscar for this performance...

  • For me one of the best (if not THE best) movie I've ever seen!

No other film had such an emotional impact and this is the best scene of this masterpiece.

    Thanks for sharing!

  • @MDMARaver i agree, this is officially my favorite, number one movie of all time

  • this why wolf because vincent gonna be the man life

  • @sanchirfrance i have no idea what the hell this means but it gets a thumbs up from me

  • @mreldude LOL

  • @mreldude HI IM SANCHIRFRANCE WELL ISAY JUST THIS ROLE OF REAL MAN

  • be and the only way to do that is believing in yourself. So keep the faith everyone and go for your dreams. We only live once. But in this scene also, sometimes people tell you the honest truth when you hit a button in them and they underestimate you. That is why i live by a golden rule " Never underestimate a person " Cus when you push em too far you see what happens....

  • This scene is great for the fact that even though Tom Cruise ( should have been nominated for a Oscar for this role by the way ) is a hit man, does not mean he does not have any intelligence on life and what he said to Jamie was the brutal honest truth. Because Jamie`s character is alot of people i see. Including how i used to be. Too afraid to try things cus you dont want to fail and that is why we sometimes as people do other things cus we live in fear too much. We can be anything we want to

  • Best scene of whole movie. By far.

  • This scene is so good in that it seems its like two old friends bashing each other and hurting each others feelings in some strange alternate reality kind of way.

  • such an underrated movie

  • @neonbible08 It's not completely underrated. It got really good reviews, award nominations and made a 100 million.

  • "Standard parts are supposed to be there in people, and you.... aren't" Really mind blowing. if i did hear it correctly.

  • IF they had a gun pointed to youre head and asked you what that guys thinking- That guy would be thinking THAT GUY HAS A FUCKING GUN ON HIS HEAD!!

  • Even after the great speech by Cruise, the line that sticks in my head is still "You know what Vincent?...You can go FUCK yourself!"

  • This is Tom Cruise's best movie. And Jamie Foxx's too.

  • favorite Michael Mann film

  • Look at the mirror...

    3:11-3:58

    So Deep.

  • you know what vince go fuck your self. epic

  • What truly makes scenes like this in the movie great is that you can stop right here and be satisfied. This could have been the ending and it still would have been awesome.

  • People who say Tom Cruise is a bad actor are completely clueless sheep. This is a masterful performance by both actors in the scene.

  • @askjiir I think you are 100% correct. A truly fine scene.

  • I absolutely love this movie. When I first watched it a few years back it was one of those eye-opening experiences that definitely had a profound impact on how I view and behave on a day to day basis. One of Cruise's finest performances.

  • my favourite movie of Tom Cruise... great vincent

  • Did anyone else think this would have been a good alternate ending to the movie if they both died?

  • Slow down!

  • lol i love how after spending a night with eachother they can sit in a car and exchange childish insults, kinda funny, likea sibling rivelry kinda thing

  • Everyone below me speaks the truth. Totally underrated film. I love Mann's work!!

  • Look at the mirror EPIC

  • I can never quite decide if Vincent is saying that he hasn't killed Max because he sees ability in him and wants him to use it, or if he hasn't because Max is already killing himself with his choices ("Don't you talk to me about murder") and therefore, is no threat. Either way, he's totally unprepared for the reaction, which also completely justifies Max's point, that he has no idea what's going on in someone else's head.

    Brilliant dialogue, and brilliant filming.

  • Very Cool Scene! Talk about "Tom Cruise being umplugged!"

  • '" Suddenly you are old" such a strong statement i think everyone needs to hear this

  • this was one of the most powerfull speach I have ever seen on movie. I t actually touched me, i got inside the Max head.. wow

"..what the f*** you are still doing driving a cab" - can apply to me, as well

  • "Red light."

  • probably one of the most underrated movies of this past decade. Both Foxx and Cruise stole the show in each of these scenes.

  • My brother's name is Vincent. Every time he does something to me, I'm like, "you know what Vincent? Go fuck yourself!" lol

Collateral is my favorite movie. I love LA.

  • I really love this movie

  • What does it matter? What do we have to lose anyway, right?

  • Possibly the best film ever made.

  • @thedonga838 ya this and ray is proally foxxs best movies

  • Will not argue that!

  • @thedonga838 Not ever made, but it is beyond one of the most provocative iv ever seen

  • @thedonga838 eh, one of the best.

  • @thedonga838 Possibly???

  • @thedonga838 This was a great film, no doubt, but the best film ever made? Jesus, dude, I can think of a dozen off the top of my head better than this.

Just say "I enjoyed this more than any other film ever". I've done that- enjoyed an excellent film more than any other film ('the Professional', aka 'Leon'), that I recognize as a great film, but I know it wasn't the best one ever made.

That's Collateral: a hell of a script, a hell of a couple actors (Cruise was better, tho), that's all.

  • @menckencynic Who are you to say what's the best film or not? In his opinion it's apparently the best film ever, so what? Do I personally agree it's the greatest film ever? No. But that's my own opinion. Don't try to justify yourself claiming your opinion is the right one. Saying a film is "the greatest ever" is strictly subjective. There's no right or wrong opinion. Stick with your own and don't criticize others.

  • @cb9603 I don't get you problem then- so you agree with me, but dispute my right to argue it?

  • @menckencynic There's the point right there... you're arguing with that guy about what's a great film and what's not, when it's clearly subjective. I'm not saying I agree or disagree with you, i have my own opinions on the film, but I certainly don't criticize or try to ague with others about their opinion on the movie.

And no, I'm not arguing with you about YOUR opinion on this film, I'm simply stating don't criticize others for their opinion.

  • 3:11-3:58

    FANTASTIC.

  • really gets to you....
