If they were smarter, WABC should have adjusted the "Curtis and Kuby" show with an earlier slot with a 9:30am ending (instead of 10:00am) and have Imus start at 9:30am with a longer, generous time stint for his program. Then, WABC would have dominated the morning and pre-noon audience listener share. WABC did not execute well and may have shot themselves in the foot.
WABC made a real stupid move by dropping the morning talk show of "Curtis and Kuby". Curtis and Kuby were always entertaining, thought provoking, and very likeable. Sportscaster Warner Wolf and occassional fill-in Mark Simone added to the fun and morning debates. Imus will not draw the audience numbers that Curtis and Kuby did.
The decision to "can" Curtis and Kuby is a mess. They beat Imus in the ratings; and always gave one both entertaiment and good solid New York news and emphasis.

Ultimately I think we all lose. We lost choice. Syndication killing talk radio. All station will be same old BS. Less opportunity for new fresh voices.
You can say what you want, my victory is NOT lost. For me, Imus is always a new, fresh voice and perspective. Many people who want him to come back feel that way.
It's not about Imus being a shock jock, it's about him being a brilliant political satirist. If you don't think Imus is a very smart guy there's no point argument, and I suggest you pick up a copy of "This Honky's Nuts." I couldn't believe I'd ever say this because I'm a big George Carlin fan, but Imus beat him to his own game. Carlin wasn't nearly as good as Imus in 1974. You can fuck off if you're going to be nasty...
