wow...look at the differences in ping times lte vs. hspa+. when i tether my thunderbolt on vz i get 30-40 ms pings. handset is the same as yours, mid 60s to 80 depending on connection. interesting video. thanks.
The iphone 4S is not on HSPA+, it is on 3G, no comparison to any of AT&T devices that are on HSPA+, I have a Samsung Skyrocket with no LTE coverage here in Denver yet, currently get 10mbps on the down and close to the 3 range on the up. So if your connecting to LTE right now they may be throttling the speeds until the official launch
That's not bad I have Verizon and on my rezound I get anywhere from 17 to 40 mb down and 4-15 mb up here in Phoenix but if I'm in Tempe near Tempe market place I always get 35-40 mb and 10-20 mb up...
@thyp888 hmm noo haha on hspa+ 3G on at&t over here in los angeles i get 12-13 mbps and 5-6 upload, on at&ts 4G Lte i have gotten up to 40 mbps down and 25 up soooo yea its much faster than what ur getting in australia.
@MrMurder96 Not at all.Never received a text, email or call stating i'm using too much data.I'M glad i got two lines before vzw followed at&t and got rid of unlimited. If i need to travel outside the us verizon has some great global phones(droid bionic, upcoming droid 4).
i live in Australia and a state called Tasmania its a small island thats not very advance and doesnt have lte but i got 12mbps(download) and 2.8mbps(upload).......... its faster than Americas lte
Until carriers in the US move the data caps over 10gigs faster speeds are somewhat pointless. The advantage of LTE would be for tethering, streaming video/movies etc... so your video will look better as it streams at a higher rate but instead of 10 hours a month, you now get 3 hours as the bitrate is higher. Counter productive.
@nreek0000 noob verizon sucks and always will plus my phone is at&t and i get hspa on a 3G phone and no i didnt change or hack anything my proof being that when i go into phone status it says hspa o was it hsdpa in the networl status
@tha1b1 You guys are lucky you get that, is that with Bell or Rogers though? I live in NS we don't get those speeds unless you're in Halifax, which sucks.
Typo, HSPA+. But it's no wonder why AT&T is worst telco in the US. Still I wouldn't get to all hyped on 4G, battery life is still not there and speed tiers is coming.
@boriquapower AT&T actually has the fastest data speeds consistently when it comes to HSPA+. They are also the only network in the US to offer HSPA+ and LTE (two 4G technologies). Layered tech is the way to go. With Verizon, you'll see super fast LTE, then get whiplash when you slam into their sloooooow 3G territory.
Doubt you'll be getting those speeds consistently once it officially goes up and their are a ton of people hammering on it consistently.
BTW, very disappointing HSPA+ results for the iPhone 4s. I get 4.1Mbps on the iPhone 4 on 3G. Is that a normal speed test for HSPA+ on your phone Jon?
@chadwad12 AT&T expects LTE speeds in the 5-12 Mbit range on a loaded network. As for the HSPA+ results those are rather weak, I have pulled down 6 tops and average around 4-5. Just varies from area to area I guess.
im in LA In zip code 90022 and my lg nitro started showin LTE Dec 8. and speed varies with full bars i got 39 mbps , 2-3 bars i get around 20-25 , 1 bar i get 8-12 , much faster than my friends droid razr. even on 3G i still get 8-15 mbps the same he gets on his razr with full bars of LTE lol and thats just hspa+
@omar79161 That's because there are few people on the network. When it goes live for all Cali, you'll never see that kind of speed again. Take a screen shot while you can!
@dakevingarnettjr this market is still in testing phase as it isnt official yet, and 3x faster is probably in a better service area, on att 4G LTE ive heard speeds of up to 60 mbps which is tremendously fast, just sayin
How about Nebraska? Yeah, didn't think so. AT&T's HSPA+ is MUCH faster then Verizon's 3G CDMA but with 4G LTE in Lincoln and Omaha now I don't have to worry about that anymore! And wherever I go I almost ALWAYS have Verizon 3G/4G. My friends on AT&T loose signal as soon as they leave city limits... All I'm saying is AT&T have some catching up to do...
I have an EVO 3D on the Sprint network, and live in Louisville, Ky. That garbage Wimax that they have the nerve to label 4g, which is only in two tiny parts of the city, only hits speeds of 3.5 down, 1.5 up tops. The 3G speeds are so slow that they aren't even worth addressing. The iPhone speeds in this video are better than my fastest option on Sprint. That's pitiful.
8 Mbps down is horrible for LTE. I'm getting between 5-6 Mbps on a iPhone 4s in Pacific Beach, California. HSPA+ is suppose to be 14 Mbps down. So LTE should be way faster than 8-10 Mbps. Hopefully this is just because it's not fully active yet.
@ZaWlady because we have 10 million times the people you do and the network has to be deployed all over north america not some shitty country like yours
If you have a iPhone or iPod touch download the app "app trailers" and enter the code freeitunes50 and get 50 dollars worth of iTunes cards hurry before they fix it!
Verizon has a better LTE network at the moment because they have had a year of deployment on AT&T. Now if you roam outside of an LTE area which is pretty much anywhere outside of metro-areas you will drop to the SLOW 3G of CDMA. At least with AT&T you will drop back to HSPA+ which is still drastically faster then 3G.
Just tested Verizon's lte just south of Dayton, Ohio and got 16mbps down and 4 up...a high school let out not very long ago that has 3000 students too...I've tested up to 28 down and around 20 up
