I personally am a PADI diver and have successfully dove with many friends who are SSI divers. The training may be different but despite where you got trained diving is the same! Why people get excited over stupid stuff confuses me. The only issue I have run into with diving with SSI certification is it isn't recognized in a few locations where I have been and my friends had to stay on the boat which was abad experience. Apart from that there are no big differences that I can see.

Seriously folks, SSI is an elite program, turning out safe, confident, skilled divers that are respected by dive operators around the world. Diving is an awesome sport that can be enjoyed by most people, providing views and experiences most people will never have in a lifetime. Check out a Try Scuba course at your local SSI dive shop!
easy calm down, my apologies that i offended u. for your information though, i have over 150+ dives and am only 15. im sorry if my opinion has offended. and no im not a know it all, i absolutel love diving and continue to read heaps about it. i just thought that i was a bit short on info.
