Remember my first time playing this, having played Microprose Grand Prix for a couple of years prior. My mate and I went halvers on it and we headed back to his house (he had a faster PC) to get it installed. I was the first one to play it - first impressions were how brilliant the handling felt and how much more realistic the graphics/sound. I was blown away. It just seemed so real and so exciting!
@w0nderf1le nope... even after the fix codemasters released the pitstop at f12010 sucks baaad.. you can say goodbye to the shaved seconds of your lap times once you enter pits......
F1 2010 is a piece of shit against Geoff Crammonds Grand Prix series. The physics are in the GP games much better because of Geoff's knownledge. So throw F1 2010 away and reinstall GP4 and enjoy the real racefun!
The Microprose Grand Prix games always had so much lovely details. Pit crew, track marshals, the guy with the checkered flag. That are these little things which create a great atmosphere.
The funny thing is, most modern racing games still don't have a pit-crew that detailed. Most of them don't have any pit crew at all, the car just magically levitates so the wheels can be changed (magically, of course), and the fuel just appears in your tank with no hose or pump needed!
I soooo...miss this game. Played on PII 350 Mz system on the 95 platform. The successive generations were not as endearing. Gotta get me a USB steering wheel!
When they bought MPS Hasbro had 85 products in development, all with extrnal teams, with a handful of producers trying to keep track. The reporting structure meant that bad news (and some really really poor games)could be swept under the carpet, and it was.
They bought MPS. closed a studio whose project (X-Com Genesis) was on time, under budget and had a great projected sales, sold off the family jewels (Civ etc.) and worked hard to lose $170 mill in 18 months. Then decided they didn't like software, closed all the studios except the GP4 team. Then sold it all to Infogrammes who only wanted GP4 and the Atari name. (And they only wanted that so they could parachute their company seniors into Atari because Infogrammes was losing so much money.
I got Grand Prix 4 2011 and F1 Challenge 2011
and Grand Prix 4 2009 YEAH!

Grand Prix 2 in 1996 managed to let the Lollipop go up when you were able to leave the pits. However, F1 2010, 14 years later, failed.

Nascar Racing 2003 has a fully animated 3D pit crew. Still, this was good for its time.
