  • That does look pretty easy, do you add any kind of insulation around the new window?

  • @tszabo86 yes you do

  • Hi Bob. I have super old windows (the kind with rope attached to the bottom, that run up the inside of the frame) Will the method in this video work as well?

  • what do you do if you want to replace de old windo with smaller one? Thanks

  • Awesome.. he works so fast, you can tell hes a professional. If it was me Id shatter it... and then go to the hospital.. :(

  • try it on a 40ft ladder in the wind and rain and a little snow then talk to me about easy

  • @zizzybal Have you heard of this old saying: You knew the job was dangerous when you took it. :-/

  • @zizzybal that way of thinkin will get nothing accomplished ; 0

  • how do take out a window on a block home?

  • I know windows vary but I bought windows and changed them out from inside by removing the 1" wood stops and pulling out the old window. I screwed the new window in place, insulated, replaced the stops and caulked. 10 windows in one day....piece of cake. No saws!

  • @mrsparex yes, most replacement window jobs don't involve removing the whole window, just the stops to put in new window with screws through the tracks..

  • Thanks for that video.

  • Lol, "I FORGOT THE WINDOW!"

  • Askthebuilder.

I just want to replace some outside trim on two newer vinyl windows. How do I do this? The sides seam easy, but the bottom is tricky. It looks like there are several layers of trim used by the original home owners. Can I email you a picture?

  • where are the gloves? where are the protective glasses??? glass can break, be carefull.

  • no i don't think it hard to replace new window. but the way you do it will cost the customer more money. there is a easier way and less expensive way to replace wood windows.

  • Oh how I love comments like yours. You can't expect all of us, the people that view this video and myself, to just let you off the hook. If you claim there is an easier and less expensive way to replace wood windows, when will you have that video loaded to your channel? After all, that's what YouTube is all about - videos, not a 1990's forum with just comments. :->

  • @AsktheBuilder i have a window in my room that i want to completely close off, there are too many. how do i go about doing so?

  • Remove the window. Add framing to the opening. Insulate. Cover both sides to match existing conditions. That's the Cliff Notes version. Good luck.

  • Your right Mr Builder, life is too short to abide the dorkyschitt types. Your doing a great service. Please do us another one and go ahead and delete dorkyschit AND his other ID sexpianos.

  • Thanks. I prefer to leave the comments up so the Court of Public Opinion can rule on them. As you can see, the rulings are coming in just like yours. Let the man make a fool of himself.

  • @dhllby1

Tim, you are great on providing valuable experiences and knowledge! Thank you so much!!!

The dogshit has been in its dogshit business for more than 22 years and has never been able to make any valid point out of it's own shit! Leave it there as a joke so people know there's a shit like him out there...

  • I found this clip very informative, but at the same time I can't wrap my brain around the juvenile mindset of someone like "Dorkschneider".

  • thanks for the tip Tim...neva mind those dude aka "complainers".

  • Awe....Boo hoo on you Mr. Builder. You're obviously a charleton if you think plastic windows are ok. I've been in this business for over 22 years and I know they SUCK. (Especially when they're large) I wouldn't put them in my dogs house. And I don't even have a dog.

  • Did I say *all* vinyl windows are great? No. Did I show you how to discover ones that are fantastic? Yes. Did you ignore that advice? Yes Everyone who reads this thread will make up their own minds about your ability to have an open mind. Do you even know what AMMA stands for?

  • I'm sure the AMMA is just another corrupt, scam establishment. Wakey Wakey Mr. Builder.

  • Sorry, I goofed up. It's AAMA. Maybe that will help you.

  • To be truthful, in fact Dorkshnieder actually is right in some sense. Many vinyl windows can not stand up to mother nature's heavy "tests-of-stength". I do know of ONE good Vinyl-Window Distributer. Andersen, a reliable place. But, yet I have to agree with Dorkshmieder that the Vinyl actually fades and corrodes over merely a fraction of the time it would even take ordinary wood windows. That is why the best way to go is Aluminum Clad. Best of Luck.

    Marvin or Pella are good

  • You want great windows no matter what they are made from? Get ones with the AAMA label. Game set match.

  • Whatever you do...DO NOT put a vinyl window in your house. 99% of them suck balls.

  • You need to know I almost deleted your comment. For two reasons. But suffice it to say you're 100% WRONG.

Go read my past columns at my website about AMMA and NFRC-approved vinyl windows. If you don't, I'm quite sure those that read your rude, tasteless and inaccurate comment will.

  • Vinyl Windows are great! No one said that "you" have to use them. Just because you don't like them doesnt mean that everyone shouldnt use them thats obviously your opinion!

  • I have been putting off a window replacement for a couple years on my garage. I didn't know how to remove it. I was waiting for all the rest of the wood to rot so the window would fall out by itself. Now I know how to cut out the edges with a Saws-All. You're a GENIUS! Now I have no excuse for letting my old window rot any longer. It's coming out next weekend! Thanks for sharing the know-how.

  • My pleasure. They are great saws.

  • what if in the outside the of the house is brick and i don't have wood trims?

  • Those windows possibly had nailing fins if it is a brick-veneer home. Visit a replacement-window showroom and talk with a person there. They might show you what you are up against.

  • in the uk we drill through the wood into the masonary and fix with screws and plugs and we silicone to seal the outside

  • Wish I could help! Read many tips at my website.

  • Hohoho! this is my next proyect, remove & install a window...Thank you so much.

  • Do you have to cut the nails, could you pull them out with a claw hammer?

  • Hammering nails back out of wood can sometimes remove large chunks of wood.
