I've just discoverd on Y-Tube that Chick Henderon was also killed in the blitz. What are the chances of TWO great vocalists dying that way ? Terrible fate strikes twice. Love the sponteneity of this--can't imagine modern so-called stars doing this, they would'nt have the nerve---or talent anyway.
Al Bowlly and Monia Litter at the piano -- AWESOME combo!
Thank you for posting ! Al Bowlly, when this film clip was made, was mostly with the Ray Noble group. Ray Noble and Al Bowlly came to the US sometime in 1934. They opened at the Rainbow Room (top of 30 Rock), which had just opened. Ray had a mostly all new band featuring Glenn Miller on trombone, and other very notable musicians. From NY, they broadcasted over the NBC network and cut records for RCA Victor.
Brother Al, after all these years as fresh as ever. Keep healing the world, keep doing the good work, maestro, croon on!
