  • wow..Cool moves..never think of it..haha..thanx for the tutor btw..

  • Nice Video Jordan

  • Hi verdugodemagos,

I personally would say that it depends entirely on who you show it to. For magicians of these modern times, flourishes are a way to gain dexterity and nimble fingers that can help learn sleights and give an overall smoother handling.

You wouldn't necessarily perform flourishes to a layperson, but they are very fun to practice and can be beautiful when done correctly; like the cards are dancing in your hands. As long as you're having fun, there shouldnt be an issue.

    Jordan

  • @verdugodemagos it does'nt have too u could just do it for fun

  • i got like 40 from a deli next to my house.

u can get it from ebay, theory11, or amazon.

    what this you song?

  • nice video graphics...and smooth moves

  • so cool love this cut!

  • interesting...

  • You are doing it with left hand , at 1:17 ... you are rotating the J of clubs...

  • rotating? :P hes just extending ring finger.

  • Even though theres nuthing really universial about this cut it really fits your style Jordan, so cudos! ...

  • Hi Pauliwallnutz,

Thanks for the kind words fella. :)

I understand that this cut isn't particularly original; but you must remember it was (for this reason) never my intentions to "publish" it. But since the FISM Battle, there was surprising interest in the move. In the end I was asked to make a tutorial, and I thought Blackpool would be the perfect place for it.

    Regards,

    Jordan

  • nice cut jordan ... i really like it ...

but i have one problem that is bothering me for a long time ... when you rotate the card around my middle and 4th finger it always slips away .. what should i do ?

  • fast.

  • hey, can you tell me the font you used please?

  • Hi, Chinchillas96.

The font is Century Gothic - and it comes on a Mac.

It may have come with one of my applications though, such as the Adobe Design package or the Final Cut Studio.

    Allan | editor.

  • oh okay thanks

  • are wynns worth the money because i was about to buy them? do they spread or fan okay?

  • Hi Raiyanmagician718,

Wynn's aren't too shabby, I would certainly recommend them. They aren't the best decks for fanning, but for cuts they are very good cards.

"Are Wynns worth the money?" -- From places such as Kardwell, they sell Wynn's in pairs, bricks and bulk. You can get a box of 12 for $30.00 -- and that is hardly breaking the bank. I would recommend you get a couple, at least to try them out. If you don't like them, you can always sell them off again. :)

    Warm regards,

    Jordan

  • thanks a lot!!!!!!!!!!!!! you are amazing

  • what are better wynns or tally-ho's because i already have tall-ho's and you are awesome

  • Hi Raiyanmagician718,

I suppose it's down to personal taste; what I find better, other people may find worse. However, my favourite cards I use (in no order):

    1) Tally Ho Circle Backs (blue)

    2) Vintage Bicycle Fan Backs (blue)

    3) Vintage Bicycle Safety Backs

    4) Arrco US Regulation

    5) STUD (old, blue)

    Hope this helps,

    Jordan

  • thanks a lot but are wynns on your top ten?

  • Yes, they are.

  • ur good

  • hey jordan can you pleez put the finger exercice that is in the dvd?

  • Great Jordan... !!!Keep up good work! 5/5"

  • Finger exercice is kl but, I think its better to just play with ur deck of cards its the same thing as doing some finger exercice lolz.

PS: Great cut man keep it up.

  • i love this cut!!!

  • hi jordan where do you get that deck from oh 5 star amazing

  • Dan and Daves website, eBay or Kardwell.

  • Leave it to Jordan to name a cut "Ohh La Laa"

  • i think its a good name for a cut...

    very unusual... not like others

  • dear god, i am dumbfounded. so ingenious and creative.

    sweet and kick ass!

looks like an ace production, too.

um, i was wondering if you had the music made yourself, or if i could buy it.

    thanks!

  • The song was made by Allan Hagen (CardMagician). He has not published it as far as I know.

  • which program does he use to make music or he works in a record studio????

  • Why not ask him?

  • Jordan, what can i say? Lovely little move. I definately have a little spot for it in my repertoire =]

  • c

    o

    o

    l

  • holy ass

  • indeed...

    -Eugene

  • i would love to see how you do your ambitious card routine Jordan, thanks

  • very great!!!!

next time a bit slower wouldn't hurt though

    Best Regards

    Cardman1324

  • Beautiful! 100000/5

  • looks like an ace production waiting to happen

  • Hi Cruz7906,

Funnily enough I have used this idea before; and that is how the cut came about. I've since used other twists on that concept using three selections which are lost and immediately cut to in this display.

    Jordan

  • i hope one day you will make a video of a performance of the tamed spades trick..im sure that u can do it like anyone!!! please do it jordan..u are one of the best card magician ive saw! keep mkaing me fly with youre vids!! thanks for reading and i hope u will answer!

  • Hi CardShark212,

In a way, you're saying I should create something that is utterly revolting and inferior, as long as it looks difficult to do?

If so, I disagree with your views completely -- I feel that the beauty of flourishing is not to add as much (unneccesary) movements as you can, but instead to create something that is good-looking and has a nice flow to it. Hopefully - in that respect - I have succeeded.

    Regards,

    Jordan

  • youre right

  • I completly agree. I think it looks great! This flourish was done in the battle in 2006 fism right? I was dieing to find out how to do it! Thanks for posting!

  • very nice!

As you may have guessed, too complicated for me, but nonetheless, great!

    Regards,

    Dom

  • yeah... and people say you need to work on making your own flourashes.....

    Good work jordan

  • Is there a place where I can download the actual file?

  • Not yet, but I will make sure to make it available from my website when it gets back up again.

    Allan | Producer/CAndJ

  • Thanks a lot. Also, when your website is back up again, will you put up the Magic Weekend series? I have 1 and 3 but I missed video number 2.

  • They are up, you guys just can't access them. =( Ah well.

  • What you mean?

  • I mean that we should not keep a bloody conversation and spam Jordan's video. add me to MSN, if you've got. you can find my adress in my profile on Decknique or the Bucks' forum.

  • the display part is very nice for

    an ace production

    thanks

  • Indeed, shock4. Jordan actually included a "bonus performance" of OLL as a four card production in the original tutorial from 2006.

  • "ahh its not original, it sucks man, damn, pivoting damn cut, another cut sigh."

stfu :) I like it. nice job!

  • LOL, thanks Sjoerteh. :)

Glad you enjoyed it, we haven't spoken in ages!

    Take care,

    Jordan

  • Very, very nice cut and tutorial Jordan. I thoroughly enjoyed learning this. I also came up with a new ending to twist things around a bit and make it a bit "funkier"?! :P Awesome cut, keep up the excellent work. 5/5

  • Very well thought up cut Jordan! I really like the smoothness of this cut.

  • he ha HAA.. love this one dude! Good job Tam.

  • I think that I like Allan's music more than the cut itself. :D

  • Hi RichmanMatthew,

I'm sorry if you feel that way; you can't please everybody. I hope you enjoyed the video nonetheless. :)

    Warm regards,

    Jordan

  • I was kidding...

  • Hey Matt,

Ah, I'm sorry - lol. It's easy to misunderstand sarcasm online - I'm glad you enjoyed it though. :)

    Have fun,

    Jordan

  • LOL,

    It's fine.

  • The display is sweet and it even flows^^

    Thanks for sharing!

    -Emerson

  • hey jordan. i like your tutorial. that was awesome. =)

  • wat's the music?

  • Credits are in the video, but if u cant read text in video, it says that its Allans music. That means he made it.

    Stein

  • But then again if he couldn't read what was in the video, he probably cannot read what Stein just wrote.

  • Haha.. True.. You never know.. People read what they wanna read.

  • WOW! JL made a TUTORIAL!

    AND I LOVE IT!

    great work buddy! thanks again

    //CMS

    -Aviv

  • thanks for the tutorial :)

    i rly enjoyed it

    only 1 question..

do you know who invented or ''made'' this cut.?

    thanks

    lunamaniak AKA Rob

  • Hi lunamaniak,

I'm glad you enjoyed the tutorial. :)

As far as I know, I invented the flourish (with the exception of the first few opening sequences - that is Chris Kenner's). Although not very original, I noticed some people were interested and I decided to film a brief video showing how it goes in slow-motion.

Hopefully you guys have fun with it. :)

    Take care,

    Jordan

  • thanks for your fast reply jordan :)

    nice tut :)

ill look up Chris Kenner on youtube

    thanks

    lunamaniak AKA Rob

  • Huhg! A tut from Jordan! Awesome!

  • yay! i love it thank you so much jordan!

    Sam

  • I especially like how the display flows at the end and its production. Nice name to the cut hehe, thanks for the tutorial Jordan.

    Kate

    cheers,

    Ase

  • Love it.

  • Hey Jordan,

I was waiting for this tutorial sinds the video with you and Chris. Thank you soo much! its a great flourish!

    Barry

  • I also want to thank Allan Hagen for this! the editing and music rocks man! I'm waiting for THE blackpool video.....

  • Wow what a surprise!

    Thanks Jordan :D

Are the many more cuts that u have created yourself? Maybe showcase them in a video?

Anywho i'd be sure to learn this, thanks again

  • Tis very good Jordan LApping ;D

    -Max

  • simply amazing Jordan.

    Thanks a bunch mate :)

  • thanks for the tutorial Jordan... I promise that I will learn it :)

  • Good combo. Altho I like the version in Battle a bit more, where you don't stop, you just slide the packet down under, and let it slide back up again. I feel that when you stop to display, it kinda kills the smoothness.

Another thing i tried to do was actually doing a revolution cut instead of that one card flipsy-floop with the left hand(right for me). It also gives it more flow.

Good job, and thanks for the tutorial. I appreciate that I was being heard. Looks like ur my personal mindreader..

  • Hi Stein,

Thanks for the kind words, glad you enjoyed the cut. :)

At the end of the day, it is down to personal preference and how you choose to perform the cut is entirely down to you. If you find a Revolution Cut addition works best in your hands, then that's really great; it just doesn't really work for me.

Sorry we couldn't have met at Blackpool, it would have been a lot of fun. :)

    Warm regards,

    Jordan

  • Thanks Jordan! I love this cut! I have to learn it! =D

  • i loved this cut when I saw it in the battle, thanks for the tutorial jordan, it's sick

  • Wow, Jordan, this was beautiful!

Just a little question, when is your new Blackpool video coming up?

    Thanks for everything

    Elliot Carver

  • Hey Elliot,

Thanks for the kind words, I'm glad you enjoyed it. :)

The Blackpool 2008 video will be published on my YouTube page in around a week or so (fingers crossed). I've seen little bits of it here and there, and I can tell you - it's worth its wait! Allan is doing a fantastic job with the editing. :)

    Warm regards,

    Jordan

  • Unfortunately, Elliot, this is not the case. The Blackpool video is not being published QUITE yet, as I was set back quite a lot by technical difficulties. However, it will be here on this YouTube page, as well as mine and Chris Hestnes' YouTube pages. (And anyone else who attended and wants it, of course)

  • Ok, thanks for the info!

    Elliot Carver

  • So elegant and simple! I'll surely use it.

  • NIce!

  • WOW NICE! Thanks Jordan!

    Felix
