  • This is weird as hell.

  • Immortal Giant Of The Musical Art.

  • ever listened to this song (or any other of the Magic Band instrumentals) played in reverse? it's like alien contact all over again...

  • Guaranteed to clear the room. Captain, you'll always be the captain.

  • Now, If you can appreciate this music, and this song, like me, you have a good and "unusual" taste of music ;)

  • well this is my first time listening to this album, and at the halfway point I gotta say I enjoyed safe as milk more, as much as I hate to say it, milk was more-erm accessible. I never thought I'd say I liked a more accessible album more. but maybe when I'm finished with this one I'll change my mind

  • Now i'm totally bummed-.There will never be another Beefheart..Just blanks copying other blanks."FIN"

  • I wanna try PROPERLY learning this with my bands guitarist...I dunno how close we'd get but if we got the wierd riffs bang on and a few of the discords I'd be happy

He doesn't listen to Beefheart at all...what chance do you think I've got?

  • @addylewis If you're both any good, you should be able to make it. This should make it easier: each guitar is in it's own channel, so, each of you should just learn stuff from your own assigned channel. It took the band 8 months to learn to play the entire album, you should be able to get this in next to no time!! Good luck with it!!

  • Rest in peace, your art is immortal.

  • RIP

  • Funny you mention getting rid of guests.... I too used to put on a side of TMR late in the evening when the gang was hanging too late. It had this way of making most everyone uncomfortable. They would all-of-a-sudden get up & leave! End of party!

    Brilliant, amazing music!

  • If you liked this listen to a couple of his later instrumentals. I recomend, "A Carrot Is As Close As A Rabbit Gets To A Diamond," and, "One Red Rose That I Mean." Both, incidently covered by Henry Kaiser.

  • Now Ican appreciate him .Used to play this to get rid of boring or uninvited guests.

  • @TumbrelJockey LOL that will do the trick

  • @sloanmidwestXTC If that did not work ,I'd bring out my chalkboard !

  • @TumbrelJockey TMR, Lumpy Gravy, Weasels Ripped My Flesh, and a few others had a similar effect for me. The funny part was I played them because I wanted to.......I didn't give a shit who left. RIP Don.

  • @TumbrelJockey ahahaahaha!!!!!

  • @TumbrelJockey LOL I used to use Zappa's Billy the Mountain the same way. Now? I know that song by heart.

  • @KingOfWhiteTrash1 Grew to love it -the more atonal/discordant/dissonant the better. Now I'd play Beefheart to attract ,rather than repel.
