you could say, the aluminum piping came from an ebay turbo kit.. and the turbo itself is in fact a chinese turbo.. they run beautifully.. you just need to know how to install it and tune it. some parts are extremely cheap, like the oil return line, is terrible.. you need to put better parts on yourself, but everything else... works perfect !
@LURKINGFOOTY 1,000 bucks plus replacing some parts to make sure nothing goes wrong with the kit.. so like 1600 bucks... total .. if you do the install yourself.
i have raised the boost up to 16 LBS @ Willowfield - did a few runs at 16lbs there - but for normal driving condition to and from work as my daily driver car, 7 - 10 lbs is more then enough especially with traffic the way it is here and the other dumbass drivers.
You do realize that psi means shit without cfm, right? 10psi out my gt3582 was enough to put me in the 300+whp range while 14psi out of a stock 16g per say is barely enough to get into the mid 200's
On what car, a 1.8L? Cause a Big EVO III 16G on a tC runs 250whp/260+wtq at only 7lbs of boost (I would know, that's what it dynoed). On 10 PSI it puts the tC at 300whp/300+wtq. Then again, the tC's motor is a 2.4L. So, don't know what was wrong with your 16G, or which ever version of the 16G you had, but that's not the case with the tC.
My 4g64 is a 2.4l as well, if you don't mind me asking what version of a 16g did you have since the stock wastegate opens well over 10psi? Did you weld the stock wastegate flap closed to let it hit such a low boost level? You can't base hp on psi. The 16g only flows so much cfm. My turbo at like 5psi flows what a 16g does in the 10's. Good to see another custom builder though. All in all it depends on the tune. That's not an SAFC in the vid is it? :X
BIG Evo III 16G rated at 380whp. Every 16G found on a tC is not running the stock WG. You are correct, the flaps are welded shut, and running an external gate. I could have sworn the 4g was a 2.0L motor. What year/model car you drive?
As in 3g Eclipse? Not sure how much potential those motors have, but I rarely ever see one that has any work done to them. Either way, still holds true about the 16G on the 2.4L 2az-fe tC motor.
Wait, is the 4g63 in the Evo's? Or 4g64, I think I got my engine codes backwards. Nonetheless though, in the Evo package SURE who hasn't seen a built Evo. But a 3G eclipse, no one I know mods them, no one I know races them, and I never see that many vids of any fast ones.
Can't compare PSI for PSI though as it's different motors. But with that said, the tC puts down what I have mentioned with the 16G. Same tQ or more. I don't know why you were barely able to break 200whp, that's just the nature of your motor I reckon. Not the same on the 2.4L tC motor though.
Man, I was checking around, and looking for videos just to see what the 3G does on boost, and I have to say, they don't make a whole lot of power. What gives? Ran across a video of one dyno'ing 230whp @ 10 PSI on an SC61. 230whp? I would be a little disappointed in that.
Volumetric efficiency... A SOHC motor will never be able to cram the amount of air that a dual cam would. I've gone 1mm over on the ports, polished everything, bore out. We're looking to make in the 500's on race fuel with no nitrous. Lowered compression I'm boosting 15psi with the GT3582 on 93 octane. She moves. Just got hit with 2 snow storms in a row so so much for dicking around with it.
It's weird how the compression works for NA cars even after a turbo upgrade. I run a GT30r now and even with such high cfm I'm still able to hold 24psi with just IE rods for internal work.
Cubic feet per minute (CFPM or CFM) is a non-SI unit of measurement of the flow of a gas or liquid that indicates how much volume in cubic feet pass by a stationary point in one minute. The higher the CFPM the better the suction. To convert cubic feet per minute to cubic meters per hour, multiply by 1.699.
The manifold is a cast iron manifold, mimics the treadstone manifold..
@ Filthyrich13, yes it's my daily driver.
