Well the wonder years finally drops next month and this vid is mad old and the sad part is that he took out the beat at the start of the vid and at the end and I've waited to hear that beat for a long time he never even leaked it so disappointed
the reason vinyl sounds better is because the grooves on vinyl are wide and hold alot more information and the needle goes directly on the recorded music as opposed to a cd that a laser reads the music . that is why you can muffle a sample and get so much bass out of it and your kicks are hard and heavy, snares are tight and cracking, and hi hats are crispy !
I could not agree with YG more on having game handed down to you. I've been djaying since 84' and nobody ever taught me a damn thang but I learned from listening to catz like Jazzy Jeff and Magic Mike from the tru sku era. Now I feel like master Yoda or IP man passin' the dj game down to the new era of crowd rockaz.
Not only that MP3s sound like shit and you get more shit when you sample them...But what is more important is your position as a producer / artist. It has to do with the culture of dance music / hip hop production. If you use vinyl or other anlogue equipment - it's a statement. Not only about your knowledge of (good) sound but also your way of creating your "art". Your music is more then just sounds arranged in time...There is always the person behind it.
@TheZay916 Crackle is one thing but warmth is another. Like sampling records in an 3000 just has a distinctive warmth that you just can't eq to match. Just typing. No biggie.
peace. the mp3 is a format of music is striped of depth in order to shrink the size of the file. when you convert a file to mp3 or sample from mp3 vs wav you loss sound. yet the ear is the most important too and can make music out of ANY sound
9th said on his twitter page like a month ago he was gonna leak that track at the end with Mr. Cheeks on it but he never did.....or he did and I juts havent heard it
anyone know where to find or buy the cd the white guy spoke of in the video to 9th Wonder, i believe he said the title of the cd was HEARTBREAKS or something, can anyone help...???
Come on man, MP3/Digital is the new age. We must move on from the old and on to the new. If a beatmaker uses an MP3 and makes a hot beat with it, who cares if it was a vinyl or mp3 sample...
haha you think im an elitist for taking the goddamn time to go around all the secondhand stores and find a record to sample, thus costing me my hard earned cash? come on man, get your facts straight.
in my opinion nothing beats the sound of vinyl, and i really believe that beats are more beautiful when they are sampled of a vinyl record. you just see samples differently with the cracks and the warm sound.
@LKSkre So you here the crackling noise. Wow. That does not make a beat better, it just gives it that dirty sound that for some reason everyone seems to be obsessed with, still.
@LKSkre No, I get it. You like crackling noises from the old dusty record. Shit, producers put their own crackling noises on CLEAN records. Its a certain feel that some people like, some people don't. Chill out, I know what you're saying.`
@NYSecond the point is that if you dig, you can find new records to sample much easier than if you download mp3s. you can download albums that people say are hot or have already sampled but it takes a little bit of creativity out of it and makes it harder to develop your own sound. it's not that big a deal but it takes that much creativity out of it which we need more of, not less of in this day and age. suck a nutsack.
@LKSkre Word. Nothing like record shopping. Especially when you guess what might have some dope stuff on it and it does. There is no better feeling then creating your own beat 100% from vinyl you dug yourself. I mean every kick, hat, snare. Vinyl is the backbone and essence of Hip Hop. Vinyl was there from the birth. Its all about the ear. The kids coming up now, its cool that they have interest in the art, but your missing out on a big piece of the culture if you dont d.i.t.c

This is ill!! 9th's a king in my eyes. Good thing i fell back into music, gotta alotta catchin up to do and this documentary right here looks really good too. ive got mad love for true skool!
9th being oldskool: let him. cats do what they feel is right and they are the ones that make the best stuff. the followers cant catch up and whine. i respect him big time. he inspires me to go diggin in music history and my mind's so split up i wanna go 8 directions with my music at once. pz
yall see that nigga 9th wonder groove to that 84bpm ish .. DAMN THAT BEAT IS FIRE ... thats right i counted the tempo lol .. im a 9th fan to the death .. check out my beat videos .. p3ace
You did an excellent job with the DVD, I'm a huge 9th fan and like him, I'm attached to soul music as well I would by any work that 9th is apart of because in my opinion he's the best in the business right now,
9th is olskool, hes used to cuttin records, so i doubt he'd change his style, n start downloading like us. At the same time u gotta respect his classic ways, hes still making mad beats
I cant believe dudes still go to record stores! LMAO
Every record on the face of this planet is on the site that i go to, Its the same one that kanye goes to. And it's all free music. This is retarded! LMAO
I used to waste crazy money on records and they took up sooo much space in the crib. Now i download albums of WHOEVER i want in seconds for totally free. Its amazing how much guys i see with deals that do this crazy shit!
You kidding me right - Sorry duke. I can't help you with that.
But keep in mind that most producers go to a certain website and download albums allday. Its crazy how i see dudes like 9th wonder who don't know about this shit!
Naaa i can't release that type of information duke.Just search the net. It took me 4 years to find that shit and i overheard a conversation with Kanye and Pharrel where he mentions the site and i went straight home and found the site. Now i'm sitting pretty. I gave all my records away and baught a 500G hardrive. Every album and software on the face of this earth is on that site and and software too. I laugh at 9th wonder yo!

This is ill!! 9th's a king in my eyes. Good thing i fell back into music, gotta alotta catchin up to do and this documentary right here looks really good too. ive got mad love for true skool!
9th being oldskool: let him. cats do what they feel is right and they are the ones that make the best stuff. the followers cant catch up and whine. i respect him big time. he inspires me to go diggin in music history and my mind's so split up i wanna go 8 directions with my music at once. pz

Hey Brittany,
You did an excellent job with the DVD, I'm a huge 9th fan and like him, I'm attached to soul music as well I would by any work that 9th is apart of because in my opinion he's the best in the business right now,
agilliam1018 3 years ago
9th is olskool, hes used to cuttin records, so i doubt he'd change his style, n start downloading like us. At the same time u gotta respect his classic ways, hes still making mad beats

I cant believe dudes still go to record stores! LMAO
Every record on the face of this planet is on the site that i go to, Its the same one that kanye goes to. And it's all free music. This is retarded! LMAO
I used to waste crazy money on records and they took up sooo much space in the crib. Now i download albums of WHOEVER i want in seconds for totally free. Its amazing how much guys i see with deals that do this crazy shit!

chickenwang4 3 years ago
You kidding me right - Sorry duke. I can't help you with that.
But keep in mind that most producers go to a certain website and download albums allday. Its crazy how i see dudes like 9th wonder who don't know about this shit!
mikeygeneral 3 years ago
so u guys dnt knw the website cs i usually jus look at kanye's samples credit n sample allthe awkward soundn stuff frm the artist
chickenwang4 3 years ago
Naaa i can't release that type of information duke.Just search the net. It took me 4 years to find that shit and i overheard a conversation with Kanye and Pharrel where he mentions the site and i went straight home and found the site. Now i'm sitting pretty. I gave all my records away and baught a 500G hardrive. Every album and software on the face of this earth is on that site and and software too. I laugh at 9th wonder yo!
Sorry son,but i just can't release that.
