does it make a difference if you put it in the freezer for 2 hours and then warm it up? heheh.. I would probably would do the same thing that you did since I wouldn't want to wait for 2 hours! haha

i think the reason why they freeze it is so the cake will "set" and then when you nuke it in the microwave, the entire cake will get hot and the fudge will melt completely--my method, the cake is actually room temperature and not "lava-like", haha. but then again, you don't burn your tongue either!! so it's up to you :)

i guess you could probably bake it in a square pan, cut it up into squares and follow the rest of the steps accordingly...it'll all taste the same no matter what ;)

I like it because I'm a lazy baker and this is so easy to put together. OH, i just had another idea: you could try using fun shaped cookie cutters if they're deep enough to cut into the cake. Or even a drinking glass to give you that perfect circle shape.
