  • Absolutely awesome video, keep up the good work!!!

  • I 'm a Real - estate agents . I make $250,000 + a year from myself and 2 other cadets cold calling for a total 20 hrs a week. Sorry but cold calling got me my new BMW , so yes it works.

  • Thumbs up if the marketing study case brought you to this video.

  • Simplistic. If cold calling as a technique was dead than nobody would use it still. But that is not true is it. Anyone who picks up a yellowpages and dials with the strategy being pure volume will have a negative feeling about cold calling and a low success rate. But if it is done intelligently it is an excellent compliment to inbound marketing. And certainly not a losers only game. That not backed up by facts.

  • Love it! Great video! HubSpot really knows how to put great videos together!

  • Funny, but misleading. Not every product or service is necessarily something that buyers are looking for on Google. My company generated over 1/2-million in sales strictly though cold calling. As munton5150 pointed out, the smart strategy is a one that combines various sales/marketing methods best suited for your type of business. Cold calling may not work for your business, but it's one of the most effective methods for ours.

  • @ChesterTheChinchilla People will do ANYTHING to avoid the hard work of selling, including buying the idea that there's a magic way to create all the business you need without calling people. If their system was bringing in so much dough, wouldn't they be able to afford a professional video?

  • Apples to oranges. A smart strategy is a combination of cold calling and web marketing- the latter to be requalified with a phone call. Many prospects that click on a Google Ad are not qualified opportunities. Not every decision maker out there is willing to "hand" their business over by filling out a web form. Some of them understand that the vendors who"ask" for their business may be the ones they will award it to. There is no substitute for asking for net new business.

  • great post

  • Who is that stud on the right?

  • An talented actor and all around nice guy!

  • Totally Clever.. Well done.

Budget doesn't matter when you have a good idea.

    Marketing 3.0

  • Funny video. Gets the message across. All businesses should be this creative. HubSpot has acting talent as well as marketing smarts! Kudos to you guys!

  • This video is ridiculous!

As an entrepreneur or someone who is self-employed, this may be an option that must be undertaken. Open those minds, opportunities are missed when not - but shame for them.

I'd be interested to see the raise of hands for those who are chained zombies working for others, being told what to do, not happy with their lives and jobs, and thus enjoy things like this!

  • why would that be interesting? 99% of people work for other people. You might be an entrepreneur but you stupid and a condescending little shit

  • Cold calling is very dead. Networking, meeting others, geeting connected is the only way it really works -- people do business with people they know, like and trust. Get out there!

  • Cold calling also works. I don't get why they are treated as separate "professions" why can't you be a cold calling networker? Instead of walking up to someone cold at a network event or tradeshow, you're calling them up and making a similar kind of contact. Some will bite, some won't, but you'll still generate revenue.

  • doesnt matter your all scum

  • fortunately not a wanker tho, like you

  • good one - still scum though

  • shhh

  • Ha! I'm cold calling for my party just for kicks tommorow. I just wanna piss off some Seniors In my hood and get some laugh's

  • I'm so thankful to be told what to think. Thank you internet, you have shown me that innovation means doing what others tell me to do.

  • It's also a paid stumble.

  • This video is one of the funniest I've seen in a looooonnnnggg time. It's SO true that outbound marketing is OLD SCHOOL. I've been a bona fide social media, inbound marketer since I posted my first article on AOL in 1998. I'm pleased it's finally becoming the standard! Great job, Hubspot!

  • wow hmm...u didn't cheat at all...all the comments are coming from accounts with nothing on them and all the same age...if this won 5000 dollars...u need to give your money back

  • yeah, nicely done :) shows how well a simple idea can work in video without a six-figure lighting budget. share! share! share!

  • What's great about this is that Dan ain't acting. I've personally seen him do this a thousand times. Go Dan Go!

  • Nice job! BTW, I don't think Dan would care about going to a Red Sox game since he's a Mets fan.

  • This is a perfect example of those who chase leads and those who have leads chase them Awesome presentation guys. Thanks for this...

  • Hey guys, go easy! Some of us still have to Cold Call. Not every company is innovative enough to conduct Inbound Marketing.

  • Coincidentally (wink)... HubSpot provides software and training so companies can start doing inbound marketing.

  • Great video. You had me up until the mention of the Red Sox... must it always come back to the Sox with you guys??? :-) Great job.

  • Yes, it must always come back to the Sox with us guys. ( - :

  • Good job! Congratulations - hope this becomes viral.

  • Awesome! Nice Mark and Dan!

  • the tickets for the Red Sox game are a nice touch

  • I will measure the success of this video based on the number of Apple lawsuits.

  • Loved it. Well said, well done.

  • Haha this is awesome - couldn't have made its point any more clearly.

    "I can't work with this ..."

  • Funny and gets the message across. Good direction. That's my girl!

  • The fact that Outbound is making his calls from the yellow pages is awesome!

  • the music makes this video...perfect

  • nicely done, hilarious! my fav part: "I hate you Inbound Marketing"

  • I love the fact that 38pages says it looks a little like an Apple knock off. Thanks Einstein.

Anyway, good stuff guys! That director is going places...I hear she's a babe too. ;)

  • hahaha, good stuff. The bloopers at the end are sweet!

  • Thanks for the cameo name shoutout.

I'm wondering whether the rest of the world will find this as funny as I do.

  • This is not necessarily a bad thing and may have been intentional, but it looks a little like an Apple knock-off. It is creative though... I think that the out takes at the end rescue it from being geeky. It is funny and overall I really like it.

    Nice job guys!

  • The bloopers at the end are hilarious!
