i have a 94 buick roadmaster limited with both of the cats cut off and the mufflers too. just straight-piped to the resonators. anyway i was just wondering how you went about doing this
@powerpuncher1 Really? How can you tell? Especially considering the L99 (4.3l)and LT1(5.7l) are visually identical with the only differences being internal (bore and stroke). Figuring that I owned the car and you didn't, I think I would know what motor was in it. The SPID label had the LT1 option code listed and the car had factory dual exhaust at one point so it was most definitely an LT1 car.
Made it out of the inlet tube off a camaro I think, just band clamps attatching it to the throttle body and MAF sensor, and an off-the-shelf Spectre air filter. Cost less than $35 all together.
@low72 Never really did any sort of comparison. Would probably flow even better with a ram-air setup, but those fiberglass hoods are a little priceyfor me. RAISS makes a short-ram kit with an air dam and ducting you can hook up to a ram-air hood if it's in your budget.
this is my dream car, 1994 9c1 caprice with an LT1 350 engine.....my dad was a cop for 25 years and he said that these were the fastest cars the police department ever had from 1978 to 2002.
I haven't noticed any problems with hot air, it seems to be more "peppy" and responsive then stock, but I may eventually either fab a heat shield for it or just get some pvc and make a standard cold air intake so that the filter is behind the headlight.
nevermind i see the maf.....

thats badass, ive seen something like that on a '96 impala before. you think thats any better than an elbow intake?

win u put that style intake on wat do u do with the vacuum line on the right side that use to go to the stock air box?
LilWinn19 3 years ago
I just cut the line and plugged it with a small screw. Works fine.

If you run a non-catalyctic LT1 you can tell people it was made for out-of-country work, because they're import only.
Great way to lawl@noobs ;)

how much does the intake help you out for power
jspoo23 3 years ago
Probably like 4 or 5 hp, it's just enough of a difference to be noticeable while driving.

Because its the truth betta get you one. I drove a LT1 wagon that was misfiring, and it was still faster then a P71 car

awsome, im doing same upgrade right now using the Corvette Air Duct and open head filter with 3.5" Fbody MAF and 12" Extention harness
Do you have problems with hot air getting in from underneath? Im thinking of fabbing a custom air box RAISS style
