@ajakghazaly79 This ONE of the TWO version made by FWM (Boston tea party). The other one is much more soulful and powerful. Have a look it's in your right, the 2nd display.
i had'nt heard this version before now , i heard the boston tea party version or atleast another take from that set of recordings . thank's for sharing!
lol, someone screwed up the chord change around 1:00 or so.. you can hear john trying to figure out where they hell they are for a second. love this song though
The Greatest tone there will ever be.. saw him last year in Manchester, England. He's not "mental" he loved lcd there are millions like him, the guys a genius and he's had an amazing life. He doesn't play like he used 2 but he still has an aura about him, if you get the opportunity 2 see him, do it. You will sill come away thinking Wow!! &.. for the rest of your life you will be able 2 say that when it comes to blues guitarists, you saw the best. bar none. love ya greeny !
@itsnotinthisbox I've heard those rumors about him playing again. That would be a marvel, and I'd love to hear him live before one of us does buy the farm.
Thanks for uploading this. this guitar riff is most likely the most over played riff in the history of the blues, but his singing to this riff, is one of the very best" in this riffs history. not to mention his unbelievable guitar playing.
Neither Eric, Jeff, Jimi or Mick come close in the slightest - At All- to this version of Mr. Peter Green playing... Jumpin' At Shadows in his own way
Someone was arguing in a thread here, that "soul" can not be perceived in playing. It is all just a matter of technique. I beg to differ, and THIS is my argument. Thank you.
@HarryCat101 Sorry, my first reply had a glitch. Maybe you're thinking of the "Madge Session, 2" that Sam1985 has uploaded, or "My Dream" from Then Play On. :-) ~b
yes, I know he is still alive, but the golden day passed away yust some time before.
I still love and I have a great respect for Peter. He was one of the best., nowaday I am 'sorry but I did not appeciate wihth his LAST performances, and I'm very sad , Excuse me but this is what i think truly.
@SilverWolfMoon... unfortunatley he went a bit mental and he's not really the same person anymore. More unfortunatley(for me), he's certainly not the same guitar player. :(
He [Bennett] was exhausted after a gig and was driving back in his van. He started nodding at the wheel, lost control of the vehicle and ended to collide with another truck. He was 6 months shy of his 30th birthday.
I had the pleasure of seeing Duster Bennett in 1969 at a pub venue in Southend, and visually he was amazing, a one man blues band, playing guitar drums hi hat and harmonica all at the same time. Sadly he died young, not sure how but what a talent.
Well SWM I'd like to say firstly "thank you" I will enjoy this and some of your other contributions many times. As to which performer is the better or best, surely it is all a matter of personal taste. My taste is neither better nor worse than that of anyone else, just different. In the 60s the letters page of MM was full of arguement on the relative greatness of - Clapton, Hendrix, Green, Lee etc. It was pointless then as it is is today. It is cool to enjoy it all my friends.
Oh Man!! Peter Green Was One Of My Most Favorite Blues Guitarists Ever!! I Just Loved The Work He Done With John Mayall & The Bluesbreakers & Fleetwood Mac!! This Is Just Fantastic & Brilliant!! 5 - Stars ***** !!!!
I think there are 3 versions of this, but the other two were released in the "Live" sets. They were all jumbled up also, not complete sets from each night. I think this is by far the best version I have heard. This is guitar playing which we will not likely hear again, my friends. Great touch, incredible full, woody tone from his LP, and Peter knows the value of space and dynamics (why did EVH have to come along to start the speed competition?).
When talking British blues (assuming there's a difference, which there may not really be), Peter Green belongs near the top, if not at the top, of the list. Clapton, Beck, Page, Mick Taylor, all got their props- and they deserved them. Green was a genius.
if any track made me think what the hell is this it ws this and albertross just brilliant i herd both of the tracks when i was maybe 15 16 im 26 now and i love fleetwood mac with peter green
Duane and Berry jammed with Fleetwood Mac at the old Sports Arena in Atlanta in 1970. I wish Duane and Peter had formed a band, what a trip that would have been.
I found Duster Bennett (RIP) who played with Peter Green is wonderful too, in Jumpin' At Shadows Peter acknowledges him Duster Bennett-I think you may enjoy his bluesy sound and lyrics.
@SAXONUK444 ive come to this conclusion myself he has a softer more emotional style with amazing light and shade way beyond technique and grandstanding, its pure emotion, he may be better than Hendrix
He also said, when questioned in 1969! " Are there any guitar slingers out there that give you competition?" He replied...." What's Peter Green doing nowadays?" True story...
Naw just look for the album Fleetwood Mac Live at the Boston Tea Party. I accidentally found it at a library and it is currently my favorite album ever. It's not this exact version of the song, but it's got all the classics on it.
Dead on explanation, man....from what I have read lately, Greenie LOVED his reverb and liked Fender amps for theirs....and Orange also. If he played through an amp without reverb he would use a separate unit. Now I know what BB Kings quote is all about. -. Peter Green's playing sends shivers down my spine whenever I hear it - especially this track - absolute perfection! Nothing comes close to this!
This incarnation - Green/Kirwan/Spencer + McVie/Fleetwood - is by FAR the best. I could listen to them all day. GREAT clip and some GREAT old photos - thanks to the poster for this one!
Peter is my #1, but he did get a few things wrong in life aye... saw him with Nigel and crew in Sydney 2002... some brilliant stuff, but off with the pixies every so often....still GREAT though!!..what about the ghosted stuff with Snowy White, my #2!! of those still with us....
You missed kenmere1's original comment, which he has chosen to remove.
Anyway, Peter was showing the grace that few musicians do in recommending that his audience, after enjoying Fleetwood Mac's performance, listen to the original song...
As I said further up, I got it from this album : "Show-Biz Blues: Fleetwood Mac 1968-1970 volume 2"
This was an un-issued recording from the Boston concerts, and I think there were another one or two on that album {all of disc 2 were live recordings}.
He was a monster musicians, one of the best ever. I saw him live with the Splinter Group in 2001 and believe me he stll gave me chills down the spine. He played a version of the stumble which was incredible.
I was at this concert, the Boston Tea Party,a fan since 16 when I heard "Supernatural"off John Mayall's album...and I can truly say we were literally blown away by the sound ,power and emotion of the band .We left stunned.
Does anybody know where and when this was recorded ? I've got a few versions but never heard this one.Green can break my heart with a handful of notes.
Peter Green was simply the greatest white blues singer/guitarist who ever lived. Anyone would kill to have his vocal ability, and they'd do the same to possess his guitar skills. He could do both. No one else has come close.
Having lived in the SF bay area during the amazing 66-68 period, when some of the greatest music ever made was there, one of my favorite moments was seeing the true Fleetwood Mac for the first time. I knew Green's work with Mayall, as I did Clapton's before him, and he was every bit Eric's equal at that time. Blues knows no color, but Green is one of the hues that makes it up. Just heartbreaking guitar playing, and I say that as a guitarist for the past 43 years.
