Their main selling point is that if u lose or break it your info is still their but that can be done with a normal laptop. Just use the free google services on a normal laptop and you'll still have all your info

@jacksoncapper not really. most places have password-protected WiFi that you might not be able to get into. I sincerely hope you can still at least use the chromebook to write documents, record audio/video, play games, and other things that require no internet!

Google is going to make the Google Docs app work offline, there are apps that can (or at least there will be, I personally haven't looked) let you record audio/video (and if not, i'm sure there's a website that will), and you can play games like Angry Birds offline.
