It's easy to do on any video editing program, but it'll either crop or distort the video and that is inferior quality.

We'll probably shoot in widescreen with new vids but these old ones are probably staying square.

Just think of the resolutions - going from a square-ish source (640x480) to a rectangular output (640x360 or 1280x720 for 720p HD) the extra image has to come from somewhere, you either have to stretch what you have to fit or crop (cut) some of the image away to fit the new rectangle shape.

I'm an image quality whore :p

Um. Not with these ones. All you gotta do is to make the frame canvas longer from the sizes and color the empty area white, or light gray, the same as your background color.

Although, it doesn't matter to me all that much, they're full of awesomeness nevertheless.
