you fucking Rock my friend! consider yourself subscribed to and befriended, and that is saying alot as well considering i never subscribe to people anymore. 5 out of 5!
Incredible!! I don't know if I could ever learn something like this (on any instrument), it's just so hard to keep the rhythm in alot of zappa songs. I love it, but i don't even attempt most of his music!
Also, if you're starting to get into zeppelin, I (personally) recommend buying "the song remains the same" (the movie), starting it at track 12 and parking on the couch for a while. Once I got that movie, I watched it up through the end of stairway every night for weeks and weeks after work.
Sorry... no grateful dead stuff in my place. No offence, but I wouldn't be able to name a single song by the Dead. Keep in mind... I only started giving Zeppelin a chance a few years ago, so I've got lots of music yet to discover!!
Wow. Such wonderful things to say. Thank you very much. I'm not so good at King Kong, but with practice it could be do-able! I have not heard any solo Piano CD's, but the Ensemble Moderne is fantastic.
Hi there! Well, like I said.. this was a "Potential" explanation, so I never claimed to know it perfectly. But I appreciate your input, and I will try out your suggestions. After I recorded this video I saw another clip of the ending section and realized then that I was not even close to it. Your ideas at the 4:05 section will really help me get it right. How did YOU learn this? Just curious.
and third: the section at 4:05 is actually in 9 altough starting of with 12
A,E,B,G,C,D,G,C,B,G,E,C...and from there on:
A,D,E,A,D,C#,A,F#,D and with further modulations. The last group of notes is in 11D#,G#,A#,D#,A#,A,D#,C,G#,F,A#. The last section could however be accented as the common "one, two- one, two, three" all the way through. Cheers!
There are way too many explainations in this clip that are wrong.
To start with: The notes of A,G#,E in groups of 11th in the beginning (0:44) should only be repated four times. (Btw, the are totally wrong phrased at 0:33)
Second of all, the quintuplet-arpeggio at 3:00 should be played as
Thanks a lot... but I don't think I'll be having any luck with Drowning Witch! If none of Frank's bands played this part accurately, I'm pretty sure I'll fail miserably... but know... it would STILL be fun to try!
Thank you!! I've been now sitting at the piano for almost an hour trying to figure out the ending section. There is a Youtube version of this done by The Foolz and they do it nice and slow, and I STILL can't get the ending sequence of notes figured out. It's probably really logical, but I just can't get it by ear! It's driving me insane. I wish i could find the actual notation somewhere - just to put me out of my misery!!
I love you. ;_;

Great playing, anyone who tackles this premier league type of music deserves to be recognised as a somewhat half decent musician! 5*

Thanks for the input on the Zeppelin thing. I think I know what you're referring to, but I'll double check it.
Thanks again.

"good enough i quit"
well, it's was brilliant enough for me, absolutely loved it.
have you played KingKong? if not, please do
is there a recording/CD of some great pianist who has done some Zappa tunes? solo.
I hope Gail would consider it. Zappa at it's rawest form with Echidna's Arf, Night School, St Alphonzo, Sinister Footwear etc
I think it would be great.
Anyway, great clip, keep practicing. I would love to be able to play half as good as you but 1st must buy a piano :)

Brilliant! This piece sounds really beautiful on piano! :D
By the way, you should try to play the instrumental section on Drowning Witch (from the album Ship Arriving Too Late To Save A Drowning Witch)! ;)
