  • Beware of the FAN!!!!!!! Mine died and i didnt realize it, NO WARNING, until i skimmed across the Control Center and notice dmy GPU was at 96 celcius!!!!

I had to remove the fan, and electrical tape a cpu fan over the shroud and remove my x-fi card to make room for this mess until my new cooling solution is chosen....

    DAMN CHEAP FANSSSS

  • Do you how well the Gigabyte 5830 will do in crossfire?

  • this isnt a review.. its just stating the obvious...

  • here in germany its about 160 $ (117 €)

  • @Alililele man...put the link of the store....i need one..thx a lot....

  • Great Video Keep up the good work 3DGAMEMAN

  • This is my rule when I go to buy a piece of hardware: If Rodney hasn't done a review of it, I ain't buying.

  • @IBILacIKx You do realize he doesn't base the products on a 1-10 scale. He gets payed to say good things about it.

  • @iwantpk2 I have realized that over the past 2 MONTHS, but still, this helps me on screening the things before I buy then, have a better idea of what to expect.

  • @IBILacIKx Ok, cool, just saving you.

  • holy fuck!!!jet engine right there!

  • i bay the 5830 for 160 $ and oc it i hafe almost the same test specs as the 5850 and is 250$ dis card is bang for buck !!! i love it

  • Anybody nows if the thermaltake thoughpower 650watts can handle 2 5770?

  • @lodovico95 Yes, easily. Just make sure you have enough power connectors.

  • @zemaken I have 1 6pin and 1 8pin, the 6pin is for the 1°5770, the 8pin can be adapted in 6pin mode for the 2°. Is that safe?

    thanks

  • would someone recommend me to crossfire my 5850 with a 5770. or my 5850 with a 5830?

  • @CaNxYoUxStoP

You can't crossfire two different cards.

  • ►►can someone go to my channel and check at my computer specs and please tell me if i can crossfire my 5850 + a 5830? and can my PSU handle both cards plaus everything else????. i have a 800watt power supply

  • Price/Performance=SUCKS

  • @keshaz12

Really? I got mine for a $180, and most of them costs $200. How does that suck?

  • very hot card , but i have it :)

very nice Graphic Card . ☺☻®

  • PLEASE TELL ME WHAT PSU YOU USED IN THE TEST SYSTEM , PLEASE , I REALLY NEED TO KNOW!

    TNX

  • @Akyy09 shut the fuck up and stop writing in CAPS, who cares, any decent 600w PSU with 40A on +12v at least will do fine.

  • 4:30 omg i didnt know vaccums had dx11 support haha im pugging my vaccum into my monitor!

  • Would a 550W Power Supply is enough to power 1 of this card?

  • @cjgan80 it depends, on a generic 550watt no, do u have moe info on what power supply.... I atuacly tested the 5770, 5830, and 5850 on a very cheap generic power supply, the 5770 worked, the 5850 worked, but the 5830 had a few issues because it uses more power than a 5850...

  • @neonzion7 Cooler Master Extreme Power 550Watt

  • @cjgan80 oh yeah itll work no problem

  • no point in buying 5850.... better to buy the cheapest 5830... save that extra for the coming soon video cards.... or just wait... just like what i do i wait... lol

  • is there a BIOS update/mod/hack for this ? i'm limited in terms of OC'ing and core voltage ..

  • regret buying this card, should of got 5850 :\

  • I'm buying this card Thank you 3DGameman

  • @1015287 Honestly, If you Were gonna Buy the 5770 and Don't Already have MW2 GET THIS CARD!!! Simple as that(not rlly)

  • please help me !

    ATI HD 5770 = £130+

    or

    ATI HD 5830 = £190+

    ?

    please no fanboy's !!

  • @NitroProffin 5770 is better bang for buck. Next step up is the 5850.

  • Id go with the 5850 if you were going the ati rout.

  • @NitroProffin i bought the 5770 to save the 70 euros that the 5830 costs more. and i also think that the 5770 is enough, it runs great! i recommend that you check out the wikipedia site for the 5000-series cards to compare the values to check if the 70 bucks are worth it, or not ;-)

  • @Sicklehead88 hi mate =] but you are too late because i got the 5770 =D and i will never look back as i usto have a 9400GT and it sucked compared =]

  • @NitroProffin i had an hd3450 before. i always thought it would be enough (bought 2 years ago, 512mb ram, etc.), but when i played the crysis demo, i noticed that i had to buy a new card. and the 5770 is really awesome (as you also know of course). and if you compare it with the 5830, the 5830 is not thaaaat much better ;-)

so we made a good choice, greetings from germany :-)

  • @Sicklehead88 damn cyrsis is a beast when it comes to gpu's =D that's the first game i had to give a go when i got my 5770 and i was stunned at just how easy it plays cysis warhead on max settings =0 so we sure did make a good choice =] also as the 5770 will eventually drop in price i might crossfire 2+ of them depending on what would be the best option at that time as the 5870 is a great standalone card, and as you are from germany did you watch the world cup game? (greetings from the UK :-)

  • @NitroProffin yeah i also thought about a crossfire config, but that's not necessary now and i would also have to buy a new card, new motherboard, new case and a new power supply. would be a bit much since i bought a new psu together with the 5770 ^^

yeah, i try to watch all the WC games. the german game was just awesome, hope serbia's gonna get their asses kicked tomorrow :D but england's game was not thaaaaaat good ^^ but i think you're gonna make it to the next round, anyways ;-)

  • @Sicklehead88 hah i would have to do the same thing ;) my psu is only a 480W and i only have a DDR2/AM2+/Single pciex motherboard but it has a nvidia chipset and i am running a ATI =P so i will need to upgrade for crossfire but i want to go to DDR3/sata3/usb3/crossfire either way so im set for the next gen gaming etc =]

I watched the germany v australia game as germany are always fun to watch but what is worst is that if "crappy" england come 2nd in the group i think that we will get germany =[

  • @NitroProffin yeah, i bought a 550 psu and i also have am2+ mainboard. if i'm gonna buy a new one, i'm gonna get usb3 and ddr3, but i won't care that much about sata3, since i'm also gonna buy an ssd drive. actually germany usually isn't that much fun to watch, but the game against australia was! fuckin epic. hehe, if england will have to play against germany, you're probably gonna hear "10 german bombers" again, when our anthem is played :D

  • @Sicklehead88 aahh yes but im sure a SSD will soon benifit from a sata3 board (correct me if im wrong) so it's always good to be future proof =] oh and im getting a SSD soon just for ARMA2 because it needs a SSD for smooth frame rates as it streams the textures straight from the drive and not memory =] noo from what i have seen germany always are fun to watch but remember that i watch england so i will say no more =P hahaha 10 german bombers i respect the germans they put up one hell of a fight!

  • @NitroProffin well, i dunno if an SSD can benefit from a SATA3-board, i'm not a pc expert ^^. but you're probably right, cause i think an SSD drive is also connected with a SATA connector...ok, i'm also gonna get a new mainboard that supports SATA3 :D

  • @Sicklehead88 haha, it does use a sata connector so guess it would be the best thing to do plus im sure all boards that have USB3 and DDR3 will have sata3 as standard anyways as they are all future boards =] so i guess you have no choice ;)

  • @NitroProffin ok, i surrender :D do you think that i'll still be able to use my AMD x2 6000+ processor?

  • @Sicklehead88 as far as i know AM2/AM2+ will not work in a AM3 board as the AM2/AM2+ cpu's only have a DDR2 controller and not both so it can't be used in a DDR3 board =[ but a AM3 cpu will work in the latest AM2+ boards as the AM3 cpu's support both DDR2/DDR3 as it has a controller for both =] so if you have a AM2/AM2+ cpu you won't be able to use it in a DDR3/AM3 board.

  • @NitroProffin hm, this sucks. actually i wanted to keep my cpu, but since i'm not gonna upgrade my pc in the next time, i don't have to worry about that yet.

  • @Sicklehead88 well if you are ever to upgrade your cpu and motherboard i would go straight for a 6 core cpu as the price at this time is no different to that of a 4 core cpu again it's being future proof then you can spend your money on games for the next 4 years instead of hardware =] but it's all upto you how much your wanting to spend and what you want to get ;)

  • @NitroProffin yeah, a hexa-core cpu was also my thinkin...btw: germany sucked today! :D but england wasn't much better ;-)

  • @Sicklehead88 6 cores is good, damn yes england sucked and gemany lost =[ england was poor and boring to watch i did not see the germany game but i guess i didnt miss anything good ;)

  • @NitroProffin yup and and the 2 available amd hexa-cores just cost either 200, or 300 euros, so really cheap if you compare it with the intel cpus.

yeah, germany was actually fighting really well, but we got a red cart after 20 min and we missed our first penalty after like 36 years. yeah, the referee really sucked, 7 yellow, 1 red card. total exaggeration. but that's the way it goes, next game against ghana will be better. they're losing right now against australia ^^

  • @Sicklehead88 i know intel are expensive, the refs are really f*cking up this years world cup with there constant yellow cards and red cards like the red card cahill got was rediculous, and ghana are not that good seems though they are losing against australia lol ;) so it should be a breeze for germany =]

  • @NitroProffin yeah, i checked it out, the i7 980X costs about 980 euros! and it's the only hexa-core from intel, right now (as far as i know). that's a pretty extreme difference.

now ghana has 4 points, germany, serbia 3 and australia 1 point. serbia's gonna kick australias ass, so we have to win against ghana. and england didn't play well, neither. they also have to win. what a crazy WC this year.

  • @Sicklehead88 AMD 4 life, cheap, pretty much the same performance all round but still better cpu for gaming and reliable. Crazy world cup all round =P england will be lucky to get in the top 2 as our last game in the group is the team that seems to be doing the best =[ but who cares england always let us down so if they don't make it then i won't be surprised lol, and how the f*ck are germany not topping the group ! ghana 4points in 1st place !? im really shocked =0 i guess it's brazil or italy

  • @NitroProffin yup, the amd cpus are great and always cheaper than the intel cpus. same with ati and geforce.

yeah, ghana in first place sucks, australia should have won, then everyone would have 3 points and we wouldn't need a win

  • dx10 looks better u should have chose a game like metro 2033

  • I have this card, on automatic fan control, in 10 min it have 82*C and computer turn off for next 10 min...

  • wht the difference b/w iCooler V & iCooler V turbo edition of this card.

  • @deluxe325 I think tubo is just overclocked with guarantee.

  • wht the difference b/w iCooler V & iCooler V turbo edition of this card.

  • wht the difference b/w iCooler V & iCooler V turbo edition of this card.

  • Can you crossfire an HD 5770 with an HD 5830?!

  • i got a 600w OCZ slient psu with two 6 pin connecters. so if i wanted to crossfire i could use molex cables for the graphics card?

  • @xRevelations1 U have in box 2x 4pin in, 6pin out

  • I would love to see people benchmark with Bad Company 2 and Metro 2033. Metro has great graphics but its not very optimized for anything really so I don't know that it would be good to test on and the fact theres only 4 major graphical settings.

  • whats wrong with my good old nvidia sparkle 8500 gt 1gb edition video card?? ( :

  • lol my ass faster cooler quieter,, look to the temp: 56 deg. C idle

  • Can i have coupon :)

  • nice stuff, big, fast and affordable, i like its design

  • unsubscribed

  • i prefer open gl because i code

but the fact that DX11 came out with hardware tessellation before open gl is impressive

though gl does have it now

  • lol trhe gigabyte version is better.. this is waay too loud. Good cooler my arse -__=

  • holy crap that thing is louder that a full sized fan that i have in my room

  • come on, i got that card upto 980/1250 on stock volts ;)

  • wow that thign is louader then my 2 XFX 5770s

  • @67CopperHead how far of a oc can ur 5770's go?? i know 5770x2 owns but if it can't oc then wouldn't make sense

  • this is a monster

  • damn Gddr5, can that work with most mother boards...I bought my pc in 2008....????

  • if u have a PCI Express then it can(mabie a bios upbade though)

  • um .. the links in the description are not for the right card / deal.

  • I like this card its much quiet than HD5870 on 60% fan speed :)

  • i can't actually FIND this product / deal anywhere.

  • LMFAO! That's why you READ the DESCRIPTION!!

  • @mindbocks it's on newegg now

  • This GPU is better then the 5770 right? Just checking :)

Great Review Rodney keep it up :D

  • wiw

  • @qbthething Troll harder faggot. Learn to use the word gay properly. ATI whips the absolute 7 shades of shit out of Nvidia any fucking day.

  • I'll have another results video posted next week. comparing this video card to many other ATI 5000 series video cards.

  • @3DGAMEMAN What program did you use to control the fan speeds? Thanks.

  • ATI is GAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!! this crap cost the same as a 5850 when it first came out and now that they think they are best they raise the price. Fucking company. Us supporters been supporting this gay company for years when they are down, and now that they are up, they raises their price. Fucking company for real. For some reason, i just want nvidia to destroy the shit out of this greedy manufacture. coming from a ATI fan

  • wow thats pretty sad how you just rant about it here on youtube. shouldn't you have better things to worry about than putting homophobic, evil, and pretty much stupid. thus if nvidia stands and ATi falls, then nvidia has no competition and can put what ever price they want on their products. so if you want to rant about stuff, take it somewhere else because its not wanted here and its very stupid.

    ~cedar234

  • @qbthething Well there's no competition for the 5000 series at the moment, I'm sure when nVidia releases their dx11 cards the prices will drop.

  • I think I might buy this thing.

But I already have a 5830...tryin' to decide.

  • I think it would be cool if you added some Modern Warfare 2 game play at the end (seeing as you are called 3d'game'man!)

  • Rodney, please, benchmark with more than 2 games!! L4D2, Bad Company 2, ME2, AC2, MW2, Dragon Age, Dirt 2, Batman, etc. Thanks!

  • when will nvidia release new card??

  • @azim6709 26th march ;)

  • I think the Nvidia GTX 470, and the Nvidia GTX 480 is going to release at the end of March.

  • change your fucking intro its annoying as fucking hell

  • you say the same shit in every card review.. and that dx10 vs dx11 picture doesn't show anything

  • soon, very soon... Dx11 will show up

  • @ xxmastermixx

If you posses a better picture that represents the difference between dx10 vs dx11 sent it to him, if not then why are you complaining?

As to repetitiveness I'd have to agree, its about time for a new into/style/phrases.

  • The difference between DX10 and DX11 is not image quality...

    DX11 is a an API, a C based programming language, plus a C compiler.

What DX11 provides is a more advanced pipeline. For example, DX11 supports additional stages like a tessellation stage, or a extensions to the pipeline to perform non-graphics tasks, like DirectCompute.

  • But it can be represented by an image, take heaven benchmark for instances take a "pic" of dx10 walls/road and the spiky dragon and compare it to dx11 should give a basic difference for an average person to understand.

Thanks for the dx11 info though, very informative.

  • DX11 is a major step up from DX10 actually.

It allows to produce much richer geometry by an additional tessellation stage. Much better shadows and lighting effects, transparent textures, by using more advanced pipelines for the processes, which exist in the new compute shaders, Less CPU stress due to much effective fetching techniques from the main memory. Multi threading code streaming directly from the driver compiler, which technically results in better multi-gpu performance.

    So yes...

  • @xxmastermixx it looks better on dx11 tho.

  • @xxmastermixx

It's quite clear that you need to clean ur glasses little guy...1. look at the sky 2. mask filters are completely round and lighting is much more impressive. 3. What was once sharp, ugly lines ( check the shoulders and general outline of objects) are now smooth rounded surfaces making for a much sweeter looking game. ---

  • @xxmastermixx AY! Don't diss Rodney!!

  • @xxmastermixx are you fucking blind? it shows a significant difference, the image is so much smoother.. fucking idiotic cunt.

  • @LFCforEver12341 exactly, there is a significant difference with direct x 11, which is why im stoked about getting a direct x11 card in a few days..it will be so much better than what i have.

  • @xxmastermixx if you look at the edges then the direct x 11 is more round because it can handle more polygons. Also the shadows have better quality.

  • @xxmastermixx DX11 adds better quality usually, and dx10 is faster because it doesn't. So.... learn your shit, before commenting.

  • @YourJustAPawn you fucking idiot. i know what it does. im saying that the picture he shows doesnt show off the advantages od dx11

  • @xxmastermixx and if you know what it does, then why do you care? You obviously show no care for others by the way you post, and screaming at him won't get him to reply.

    Have a good day.

  • @YourJustAPawn that made no sense what so ever. just because i know doesnt mean everyone else does. if they see that picture they will think that there is no difference from dx10 to dx11, which is not the case. my point is that he needs to find a picture that better demonstrates its advantages.

  • Icooler, so far known as nice cooler, maybe its better to buy kinda lower version then you overclock it coz most of 58xx has reference board layout n it indicates they have same perform

  • thrusters at 90%... Huston we have a liftoff!

  • He talks faster and moves his head to the left, right, left, right, etc. XD.

  • Is everybody forgetting this card is om beta drivers...... We had the same problem for all the 5000 series cards and the 4000 series cards. There like wine they get better with age.

  • OK its an upgrade over my 3870 and my x1900xt. However I am not sure how much faster it is over my 8800gtx. Will still be hanging onto my 9800gt 1gb sli setup and my vintage voodoo 5 5500. All of which is overclocked. :)

  • nice review Rodney (I know I accidentally said review on the unboxin vid of this =/)

I don't really think this is good enough for the price in my opinion, it's suppose to be in between the HD 5770 and the HD 5850 so why is price only a tiny bit less expensive than the HD 5850?

I'm really thinkin of getting the 5850 but not really sure because I have a SLI motherboard =/

  • @Johny40Se7en the card closer to the 5770 than the 5850. performance wise. 5830 would be on a 3 - 4 if 5870 was 10 and 5770 was 1

  • @Johny40Se7en . hmm your right on that comment you did tho. pricewise this card is still to expansive and 5770 is a better choice

  • if y would buy this y would take off that plastic cover and fan and put a 120 fan on it:D

  • wtf its to big:)) and a bit worthless=)) in my country a 5850 in like 12$ more=))

  • You should benchmark Bad Company 2 as it is a DX 11 game which is quite demanding

  • @liamcollister it's not as demanding as crysis dx10. bad company 2 does not support all dx11 functions, dx11 in bad company 2 only uses it for soft shadows. not tess.

  • hey.. it is a detailed review.. the companies watch and its a good idea.

  • how much is it?

  • They go for around $249.99, the Power Color 5830 is the cheapest at $239.99. Its a very fast card for the money.

  • its 17% slower than a 5850 and 17% faster than a 5770...

  • I heard it was only about 5% better than the 5770.

  • and i heard it is worser than a hd 4890 O.o :D

  • I think itès about the same as a 4870.

  • it is better than an 4870

  • 5830 ist longer than 5850? thats stupid xD

  • and it used 157 watts ad maxload and my 5770 used 118 watts. thats not a big difference! i buy this card xD

  • ati has one big 58 series card they are holding back on and i aint going to tell you you will all find out in a few months time it was leacked in a pod cast from a really big hardware review site thats all im saying...

  • @aschris87

    Let me guess the 5890?

  • is it a 5890?

  • I will always have XFX in my heart, cause it was the card that actualy worked in my rig after 3 months of tearing my hair out.

I will never go threw all the junk I had to go threw again with a crappy brand of card just cause it looked cool and came with 4 games. =(.,,,

  • Wow 55C on idle, don't the 5870's get only somewhere in the 30s or 40s?

  • Can someone tell me what the major differences between the 5850 and the 5830?

    I just bought a 5850 and i feel a bit ripped off..

This seems like the exact same !

    Please reply :d

  • You made a good choice getting the 5850 its about %25 better for only $50 more.

  • I'm satisfied with my 4890 =D

  • me too :DD

  • Sounds like a F-15 Strike Eagle^^

  • im happy wif my 5770 =)

  • Nice review. Maybe you should start benching with MW2?

Oh and BTW, could you make another one of those "chart" videos, where you compare the 5000-series video cards?

  • MW2 isnt a power hungry game like Far Cry and Crysis. It also doesnt have a lot of graphics settings.

  • @lakeb0dom open ur eyes. it has enough settings

  • @lakeb0dom Far Cry 2 can easily be run at Pentium 4's at maximum. It requires maybe a little bit more than MW2, maybe even less, while Crysis is very demanding at higher settings. But on low, Crysis can be played on very cheap systems.

  • yes I know that, the engine is flexible but on higher setting crysis and far cry is a lot more demanding than MW2 on highest settings .

  • why does it say under current values gpu clock at 157 & memory clock at 300 ????????

  • @m2uk550

Because when in idle, all ATI radeon HD 5000-series go clock down to 157 core clock and 300 memory clock to control heat and noise output from the fan.

  • its because its not on load when it starts a game the values will go higher and so will the temps.

  • @m2uk550 Thats the Idle Clock.

  • Because it's underclocked to save power....

  • that are the 2D clocks

  • lol that card cant be that noisy, it sounds like a vacuum cleaner.

  • 100% speed, we have liftoff!!! Really noisy :)

  • image doesnt clearly show any difference except clouds

  • I hear a wind tornado coming through town lol i think it''s comming from rodney's house

  • Is the 5830 worth the price jump from a 5770 OC'ed?

  • no..

  • @cheese2396 you jumped from 128 bit to 256 bit and get 1/3 more performance for 1/3 more the cost i wouldn't purchase a 128-bit card for more than $150 but 256-bit yes

  • I don't like this card .. I think the 5850 is a much better deal.

  • is this faster than GTX 260? i have one and its not too old but if this beats it i might wanna upgrade

  • Yes, it is.

  • @lazyboi789 5830 is like a GTX 280 or faster 2 5830s will be liek 1 GTX 295 or higher
