Hey guys! Im new to youtube and i bought a baby leopard gecko. I have started making videos of my leopard gecko. If you are interested in leopard geckos you have to view my channel. If you want to see him grow up and be part of a future breeding project then subscribe to my channel. I will be posting videos and updates on him and my future Gecko. stay tuned and thx for reading.
Okay, I believe my female is gravid with infertile eggs as I have not provided a male for mating. She's been lately not eating as much and laying in her moist hide/nest box a lot. I'm watching her dig and start circling then place a foot on the side of the box but do nothing else other than hover over the hole. Does this mean she's trying to lay?
Most likely not. If she was getting ready to lay she would be in the nest box digging. She may end up laying the infertile eggs or she could possibly absorb them.
No. For best results the eggs need to be removed from the egg laying box and placed in an incubator. If left in the cage they most likely won't survive and if they did the hatchlings would probably become food.

I heard females can lay infertile eggs without a male.. I'm positive my girl leo is going to lay.. How can I make things more comfortable for her? And when do you know they're about to lay? Like catching it on camera?
Females can lay infertile eggs without a male being present. She may lay them or reabsorbed them so the best thing to do would be giving her a nest box. This can be any type of small container that fits in the cage. Fill it halfway with sphagnum moss or peat moss and cut a hole in the for easy access. She will seek out this area to lay. When she is getting close to laying she will go off food and most likely spend a lot of time in the nest box.
@ProGeckos how long does it take till the leo gives birth and how do know if the egg is fertile and how long does it take does it take for the egg to hatch? srry about all the questions
A female will lay eggs every 4 to 6 weeks. The easiest way to tell if an egg is fertile is by candling it. This is a process in which you shine a bright light in the egg and a fertile egg will glow a nice red color and an infertile egg will be bright yellow. The day the eggs hatch depends on temperature. Around 82° will be about 60 days and about 88° will be about 40 days.
The number of clutches depends on the female but she will store the sperm and one mating can last the entire season. Multiple breedings won't hurt either.
No, once the babies hatch they should be housed in separate cages. Keep them like you would the adults just everything is smaller. If they are housed with the adults most likely they will become food.
been breeding one pair for 20 years and never caught her laying. Its bizarre to see her turning the eggs as I was always told turning them would somehow effect the outcome. Nice video.
Thanks! Once the embryo attaches itself to the side wall of the egg it should not be rotated. This happens within the first 24 hours so when the female is turning the eggs it should do no harm.
I have 2 geckos and had them together since i got them when they were babies, but i didnt know one was male, and the other femalee and they breed. so i removed the male but the female continues to lay eggs, is that normal?
@jordan8medeiros You dont need to remove the male actually its more stressful to remove them and than put them back together for the breeding season. I have my male and female in a huge terrarium all year round and they finally bred and laid.
Hey, i currently have a Male Tangerine and i want to pair him up with a female, not necessarily for breeding purposes, just so i can have two in one enclosure.. My buddies got a raptor for sale (female),if i introduce her to my tang, will there be any problems ? can they live together fine ?
haha just watched my leo lay her eggs 1st time iv caught her poopin them out haha then i was like WHA! she started beating them with her back legs! write a yeahoo answer trying to find out why, but seeing this video helps me :)
how do you know when they'll be born

@ProGeckos Can you just leave the females eggs inside its cage, so they can hatch on there own or do they have to be incubated?

ProGeckos 7 months ago
Hi umm when the geckos are born do u have to incubate them??
icecream211000 7 months ago
@icecream211000
You only incubate the eggs once the female lays them. After the eggs are incubated the babies will hatch and they can be setup just like the adults.
ProGeckos 7 months ago
when the female kicks the egg is that normal?
juju66ize 7 months ago
@juju66ize
Yes, it is normal. It seems to be their way of drying the eggs.
ProGeckos 7 months ago
@ProGeckos thanks

That is a SMALL laying box
DmanM16 8 months ago
@DmanM16
It's sufficient for one female but multiple females would need a larger lay box.

That's completely normal. Females will retain sperm and continue to lay several clutches of eggs through out the year.

is it easy for them? Looks like it.....

It's a stressful process on a female so I would guess it's not easy.

@ProGeckos You could have just taken the eggs and made yourself an omelet instead.
