Also, NASCAR's recent ownership of Grand-Am(which was only recent in 2008, long after 2003 when the DPs came along) had nothing to do with the design of the Daytona Prototypes. I only remember their efforts from 2000 to 2002(clearly riding the bandwagon success the Vipers had all over the world at the time) with Reynard 2KQs & rebadged Dallara LMPs.

BMW has been out of DTM for quite a while. Will have to check, but think it was the late 90's last they were in.

Why no DTM? Not sure. But, they said IF more of a production spec, they may join.

BMW now focused on GT2 M3 for Le Mans and ALMS. 1 3-series team in BTCC. Customer cars - new GT3 Z4, the GT2, probably a 3-series TouringCar.

Formula BMW is still running in Europe. Heard rumors it's in trouble in US.

Think that's it for now.

Need to check those facts myself.

I dont care what anyone says, that Chrysler Le Mans car is sorta cool, in an eara of chrysler building some of the most boring cars in history (with the exception of the Dodge OMNI Shelby GHLS) there racecars was still unique. Maybe you would have to be high to try to build it, but I think the first time someone wanted to walk on the moon or fly, people probably said they where high too. Imagine Chrysler rebuilding this thing and racing at Le Mans, that would be awesome.

I hope Audi can have a better 2010 than last year's Le Mans woes. I wonder how a 6-cylinder twin-turbo diesel would fare for the Peugeots along with a KERS system. Good insight on those notes on the Porsche GP car, Leo. I can now see how some teams can save fuel in F1 this season with that system. I know Chrysler made an LMP in 2000 and 2001, but I din't know about that hybrid. Leo, the Mooncraft Shiden is absolutely beautiful. Maybe the DPs could learn style from the Mooncraft Shiden.

2010 ACO LM rules call for all engines to go down in size, LMP1 mtrs will be current LMP2 and /or GT2 sourced [eg- prodcution-based]. So, Pug will likely move from 12 and be smaller, too.

The F1 teams chose to abandon KERS this year, not the rules.

I believe it is planned / required in the 2011 designs. With no fuel stops, fuel save mode plus power to pass option to allow diff race strategies - Just like Willams designed!!
