  • sh7e cant dance th7oug4h7....

  • I love Dusty.....

  • A great version of the song by a real women's libber. I guess Dusty really told it like it is on Born This Way on Reputation in 1990!

  • @BJM4441 Your so right...Dusty gets inside "Born This Way" from "Reputation" with so much passion showing that she is one of the greatest female rockers of all time...visit this performance often, love this timeless awesome singer!!!

  • Fierce & wildly soulful, Dusty simmers and soars & nails "I Am Woman" in a totally awesome version that I come back to over and over...RIP great soulful lady, you are the greatest and love & miss you so!

  • His her hairstyle called a 'shag'?

  • Yawn

  • I prefer this version to the Reddy original. It has so much bite to it, and that tiger growl towards the end...you go Dusty, the TRUE feminist, way ahead of her time in the music industry!

  • gonna play some black ops instead

  • awesome version!!

  • what show was this on??

  • LOVE IT!

  • I Wonder Why Dusty Chose To Wear Long Dresses?

I've Only Seen One Maybe 2 clips With Her In A Short Dress!

    Whoaaaaaaaa, Nice Legs!

  • @47yesican She didn't like her knees... said they looked like her dad's

  • @moose101506 Too Bad That We Are So Effected By Our Parents!

In The One Video, (antique car), She Had a Short Dress On.

    Fine Legs................

  • GOD DID I EVER NEED TO HEAR THIS 2NITE!

  • You are woman and in this world of scientific GOD likeness, one day you won't need man. And when that day comes, we're screwed on a par of the first thirty minutes of Maximum Over Drive.

  • Sing it sister.... Girls need more of her calibre!

  • strong voice

  • Lovin' the dresss!

  • Fabulous . . . !

  • I LOVE YOU DUSTY!!!

  • and she started singing with her brothers they were called THE SPRINGFIELDS

  • Whoever posted this... Thanks a million !!!!!!

  • A goddess. A beautiful woman with an incredible voice. What a talent.

  • love it!

  • most music these days the singers sing to the music, but Dusty was different she sang and the music changed according to her singing. This is so good, I reckon

  • Why can't girls look up to something like this rather than the crap of today like the Bad Girls Club show or Jersey Shore?

  • @wwedude1987 I do!

  • Part 2 @jtravis282 Let's see you say "Look no hands" WITHOUT A MESS. rotflmao. Most males think they are firemen going in there to put out a fire.pee all over. But, I will give all males credit. From the time of birth, when you catch a little chill, you can pee in your own eyes. (a buck shot and no hands) talent or skill?

    LOL ..Yes you are man!!

  • Part 1 @jtravis282 Don't think all women bathrooms are pink & frilly. We sometimes have to sing this song as we enter a filthy bathroom, don't even want my shoes touching the floor, let alone my drawers! LOL So been there done that. Just pull the drawers to the side, stand & pee. If we had to we can pee walking in the rain, you'd never know, skirts are amazing! YES I am woman. rotflmao..... (to be continued) ran out of characters

  • @jtravis282 With the greatest respect, that's just the kind of comment you would expect from a man, missing the point of the song completely, now go away whilst us intelligent folk indulge in the sheer class that was Dusty...!

  • All the people who voted against this video must be men!

  • @AngelaParkerMusic Perhaps they are. However, I've encountered many girls and women who aren't even cultural femenists. I like this song a lot; it's so much more than bubble gum music. This version is different than Helen Reddy's though. Even the lyrics...This was in the 80's? I liked Springfield in the 60's...

  • @K9spot66 I agree. Very powerful song and yes, I prefer this version to Helen Reddy's, even though both have good qualities. I believe this performance was in the early 70's?

  • I can do anything, I am strong, I am invinsible, I am Woman...

God I needed that song right now!!!

C'mon, turn it up loud and dance round the room.

    It feels great!!! xxx

  • @prankmasterjph It's not a contest, old boy. If you can get over your insecurity, you might realize that women and men are here together, to make the world work. Try to understand.

  • helen reddy's version sounded weak

  • @C00Lcat69 well dusty rules but helen reddy actually wrote the song so props to her too

  • christ dusty springfield looks like jil malloy ...

  • DUSTY<3

  • Even Helen knows she can't lay sole claim to this song. It has become every woman's song. No one sings it like Helen but yes it belongs to everyone of us sisters. And our true brothers too. A real man wants his sisters, daughters, mothers, to have equality too. And yes I have no problem making my finest lovin' man a sandwich.

  • @zamusicza what about a chocolate sandwich - chocolate sandwich chocolate sandwich chocolate sandwich

  • Oh sure, women have gained and are sooo-muchhhh better off since the early 1970s aren't they? haha

  • fantastic, thanks dusty!!!

  • @prankmasterjph u sad sad thing, who the fuck would searve you u ulgy lookin muppet, i bet u werent loved growing up...get a life,..

    GREAT SONG !!!

  • i like this song she sings this so good

  • @prankmasterjph-

perhaps if women and minorities had not been held down for centuries by white men, maybe they would have their own day. sorry...

  • @prankmasterjph You just proved why that day doesnt exist with your very own comment.

  • Dusty rocks and makes an anthem out of "I Am Woman"...stunning version is amazing to watch...what a soulful DIVA!!! This is the ultimate

  • @prankmasterjph Faggot.

  • @prankmasterjph what a nasty prick! Why dont you fuck off this site man... this is music here not for asshole rednecks!

  • Love this song... Drill dat SATC 2 used it was fab in the movie....

Know dat Helen Reddy wrote it, but think Dusty did it better :) xx

  • i love when carrie, samantha, charlotte and mirang sang it.

    sex and the city 2<3

  • Everyone knows Helen Reddy's brilliant version so it just shows how utterly amazing Dusty was to really make it her own. Great posting! Thanks!

  • Just Beautiful!!

  • Wow I've never heard Dusty sing this before. The Helen Reddy original is a classical but I now prefer this. But then she rarely does a duff cover.

  • GREAT !!!

    when was this ?

  • It would've been awesome to hear Dusty and Helen Reddy singing a duet to this. They don't make girl singers like them anymore.

  • I LOVE DUSTY !!! I'm 18 years and i'm not ashamed to admit it

  • @JackHauss LOL...

  • @JackHauss Your clearly dont get laid.

  • @lexi846 Your clearly what? You have fucked up your syntax, as all improperly educated ModLibs have done.

  • In those days, artists were known for their talent. Nowadays, a woman needs to show her ass in order to make it to the top. Look at trashy Madonna, Britney Spears etc. Now Madonna may be acting like Miss Little good shoes, but in her prime, she was America's number one whore.

  • Thanks for sharing flybreath - An Anthem for us Strong Woman. " I am Strong, I am Invincible, I am Woman". FAB Post

  • rockchick - thanks for sharing, never realised she was so gorgeous, had an image of her being miserable but no.

  • she came from an era where many aspiring singers could place their talents out there on so many variety tv shows of the 60's and 70's however when that dies so did so many avenues for aspiring singers today.this singers hit the pavement on so many tv shows to get their name and songs heard

  • classic

  • Dusty Springfield was a godess. There'll never be another white woman with such a voice. RIP!

  • @orvgg

    you said it!

  • @orvgg obviously loads of black woman with voices similar and better than hers though. idiot.

  • She was a very plain girl who decide one day it was up to her to make something of herself and look how she turned out...gorgeous! She had great fashion taste and wore her gowns like a millon dollars. So incredibly talented at so many levels and still a hero for many young singers, deservedly so.

  • yes Dusty does make these covers hers! Some of those peaches that I love to see and I thank the Lord that you are made!

  • I miss so much Dusty. You're still the greatest, most naturally soulfull singer. Happy birthday Sista!

  • wow ... what a great TV studio band... the guitarist and bass player are amazing... and dusty RIP never forgotten XXX beautiful woman !!!

  • love the dress...=)

    like a princess

  • Dusty IS and WAS and ALWAYS WILL BE the Queen! I love all her covers, she really makes them HERS!

You can really hear the feeling in her voice...Such depth (and with THIS song there's MANY levels of WHY and HOW she sang it)

  • My mum used to sing this when she was getting all feminist on it. When I feel feminist I sing Peaches.

  • Damn she was hot, hear me roar :)

  • Best Voice ,white-chocolate!.....and truly great moves (the arm alone!) Praise Dusty.

  • I must not have lived in this planet. I found out tonight that this great singer has passed away. Rest in peace Dusty. I passed my youth with your music. Love you for ever. Anoosh

  • i love her voice and the music

  • a voice like silk

  • lovely dusty as ussual! a very good version,! infact i like it more than helens version!

  • Ray, relax with the comments. Make some room for us other Dusty fans! :D Beatiful song, i really must say.. and WHY does McDonalds "cover" this song on their commercial? "oh, yes I'm a man, i admit i've been feed quiche"!?! my lord.... love you, Miss Springfield!

  • Much, much, much, better than Helen Reddy's version! I love that gown!

  • I love Dusty... but this is Helen's song.

  • I think this is the best version of this BUT helen Reddy must be recognised for writing this !!!

  • Well, I love Dusty but I don't agree. It would be like me saying I prefer Helen's version of You Don't Have to Say You Love Me over Dusty's!

  • well , did you know that YDHTSYLM was an italian song , first performed by jody miller in italy and sung in italian , and dusty saw it got it translated to english by napier bell ( i think )

  • Well, to me, anyway, You Don't Have to Say You Love Me is Dusty's song...period! Same can be said for "I Am Woman". On top of that, Helen won the Grammy for her vocal performance on "I Am Woman".

  • and her manager Vicki Wickham

  • Agreed. Dusty doesn't sing it with the same conviction as Helen Reddy

  • maybe because its such a shitty song?

  • RIP DUSTY

  • An Angels voice .....Who is now singing with the Angels. Thanks for this video

  • Happy 70th Birthday lass and I'm sure I speak for all your loyal fans, I'm sure you're smiling down on us.

    Love you Dusty, Ray♥ X X X

  • "Is she JEWISH ?"

  • bird in bush road 34 to hampstead heath

  • Damn she was cool. She just kicked fucking ass!!!

  • Gosh...first time to hear this and loving it

  • Even more fugly retarded men Virgins like tomatocanibal6847

  • Burn!!

  • I like this version better than the original

which was more a condencending song in a way

  • What do you expect!!!

She was fighting for womens rights!

  • There is no comparison, dusty takes this song to the next level. Helen sings it as if she were around a camp fire at a girl scouts camp. Bland and generic. Dusty has attitude, charisma and style. She sings it EXACTLY how it should of been. Helen's nursery rhyme version is just plain inferior.

  • Anyone know when this was taped? Looks like early 1970s. Dusty still looks great and sounds wonderful. Really like this version. Thanks for posting this!

  • What a Voice.

  • Such a good voice! gosh, her hair is so straight, i adored the beehive!

  • i am woman

    hear me roar. yeah!

  • Such a great song, yet. without such a powerful singer, one can never hear the fiery emotions that this song promises. Dusty, URE THE BEST!!!

  • Helen Reddy's dreck is turned into something far more elevated by Dusty.Imagine if she had a more sympathetic backing similar to the Memphis sessions. This could have been a real stunner...

  • I love Dusty, but please don't insult Helen. She had more hits in America than Dusty did, but I'm not here to compare... Helen was great and doesn't deserve your vitriol.

  • My apologies. I have Helen's albums "I Don't Know How To Love Him" and "Helen Reddy". Her versions of "No Sad Song" and "How?" are sung with great feeling. Dreadful arrangements and 'singalong' type songs bedeviled her work. She had more hits in the US than Dusty. But, chart success is a limited criterion for measuring soulfulness. What sets Dusty apart is her ability to turn a stinker into something sublime and moving. Helen was often at the mercy of bad arrangements and poorly chosen songs.

  • Soulfulness is not the criterion by which you measure a good singer. If soulfulness were the criterion, we'd have to say Judy Garland, Barbra Streisand, Ella Fitzgerald, etc. were bad singers. Helen had some songs I could do without, just like some of Dusty's... you should listen to Helen's album cuts more than just her Top 40 hits.

  • You mentioned chart hits, not me. I mentioned 2 album cuts by Helen that I consider very good. In my opinion, soulfulness is the criterion - it is "just" an opinion. It's okay that your criteria differ from mine. BTW, Helen's song Summer Of 41 ranks as one of my all time favorites.

  • "Summer of '41" is an awesome song and thank you for acknowledging it. Interestingly, Helen wrote it.

  • ella had soul! and artists are judged on a PERSONAL level...beyond the basics of pitch and volume, everything else falls into the timbre you prefer...TECHNICALLY, they are both great singers! forget about chart toppers...make your OWN judgements

  • Thanks for posting!

This just shows that despite all her 'difficulties' during the 70s, Dusty never lost it at the time.

Anyone know what tv show this is?

Is it 'They sold a million'?

    ;-)

  • it was on the tom jones show. i have the dvd, it's "Dusty Live At The BBC"....xoxo

  • 'difficulties' ?

  • I always thought this was such a stupid song, probably because Hellen Reddy is such a mediocre singer, but Dusty is so good that she can manage to salvage it.

  • I couldn't agree more! She adds so much attitude to the song.

  • She seems to really be enjoying her self, yet again a cover that sounds better than the original. :)

  • HAHHAHAHA!!! the end of that song is priceless! the only men dusty loved was mostly gay! she was in no way a man hater...BUT....DUSTY LOVED THE LADIES!!!

  • I've never heart that! Very interesting!

  • Lol, seriously? Dude, if you're interested enuff, pick up a copy of her biography, Dancing With Demons. You'll find out just how much she loved the ladies & so much more, trust me!!!...xoxo

  • So what? No big deal.

  • no one said that it was a big deal, i was just stating a fact, in fact, i find it makes Dusty all the more beautiful to me. not that she wasn't beautiful before i knew that about her, it's just one more thing, one more reason to love her....xoxo

  • Okay all you cultural analysts. How about considering this as a live performance? That there is a rhythm section, orchestra and living, working vocalist. I prefer sounds closer to '66, myself, but this Seventies wall-of-sound is still awesome. Now back to the cultural analysis. Nobody stages anything this way anymore--by which I mean BIG. And it's not the amplifiers particularly that are making for bigness. No one seems to have the interest or resources to do it in this manner.

  • I'm a guy and I like this song. Dusty looks sooo much different in this video than she normally does. What a beautiful lady.

  • I'd hit it.
