I got so excited after watching this that I ran out to try and learn the heel-toe in my Camaro. I bet my neighbors thought that someone having a seizure stole my car.
left foot braking is usually used either in single sit formula cars(GP3, GP2, FR V6, F2 and of course F1) where there's no clutch paddle or in the front wheel drive touring cars for weight shifting while keeping the engine in power range.
most of the GT cars and prototype cars are real wheel drive with sequential gearbox, you need to clutch in while down shifting, therefore heel-toe is a must in order to keep the car balanced under braking phase.
@1995MattyD Having said that, I can't hear anything like what I used to hear in F1 when they had traction control. What impresses me most about this video, after having the telemetry and being able to see his footwork, is Akira Mizutani's driving. He is very smooth, consistent, and patient. I think it's his car control and footwork that are the biggest factors in controlling wheelspin.
@pmgarrett13 The only times he starts to get loose are when having to break a little harder than normal because of traffic ahead and after his pass into second position where he goes up on the curbing a little. All other times he seems completely in control.
I read somewhere that Porsche uses engine ignition electronics to act as traction control. There certainly seems to be no tire spin at the start even though it looks like he just nails it.
It does not require clutch engagements with sequential gearboxes. The pedal is only a dummy for the driver to continue the heel-n-toe habit like with manual gearboxes.
Not its not a dummy. Mechanical sympathy ever heard about it? Yes you can do change down without the clutch, but not mega for the gearbox. Nothing to do with the continuing the habit. What if you use a crashbox then? Stil H-pattern but you don't use clutch on the way up. No clutch means auto-blip on the power so you can left foot brake - but harder on the box. Like most singleseaters these days.
i was having shit on fanatec H shifter then after seeing this video I changed to sequential shifter and my heel toe practice has improved...im talking about forza 3 ... :)
