I realize I'm in the vast minority,but I think the English version is rather cute! It's very much in keeping with the jpop style of the time,but with more of a snappy beat to it. Yes,I've heard all the other versions. I do like the Spanish and Japanese versions too. I DO think that everyone's coming down pretty hard on the English version,though. C'mon,people! It ain't THAT bad!

When I was like....three or four...I had this version, and that's the only version I ever had.

And still now at the age of 30 I distinctly remember that as a little kid, I thought th is was like the best song ever created. All my life I had no idea there was a totally different opening that was the original.

I dig you. I like the sound b/c it kind of suits Candy's atittude of helping people out and just getting the job done. Candy is pretty out-spoken yet she had a soft side. In the Japanese version, her attitude is more subtle while her time period is more focused on.

OMG Candy Candy I used to watch this in Puerto Rico when i was 8. The spanish intro rocked. Aside from Telemuñequitos there wasn't much to watch where I lived on a basic local TV. It's definitely one of the most underrated anime of all time. They don't make them like this anymore. Everything is all violent or perverted. Very few decent animes that truly are worth watching nowadays. But Candy Candy will forever be a legend in its own right. Sad 2 say though the English version is not good at all.

The English version was released in VHS format by ZIV around 1980. I think they only did two or three episodes, and it was never broadcast on US TV as far as I know. I haven't seen a copy of the tape in twenty years or so.

A blue and a pink one.

The only problem is that they are only Jepanese but the view must be enormous.

I still haven't seen this at all (since it never even got shown on American TV besides a few VHS releases), but the theme song and the music was done by Mark Mercury, and the series was dubbed by ZIV International, who were infamous for ruining anime in the early 80's. I should put up some of their "Captain Harlock" nut jobs!
